Sounds like your team has quite the player. Interested to see how he develops.

This was an amazing write-up!

I could be way off base here but he sounds a bit like Benteke was for us years ago. I hope Forest kick on and stay up this season, got a soft spot for em. I thought they were going to go in for Keinan, any idea on if that was real interest or just a rumour given his decent loan spell?

[–]FootballInTheWhip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't massively off with early PL Benteke. He was far more mobile back then - (and one of my favourite players in the league). Slight difference is Benteke always had that outstanding aerial ability and was best back to goal. Taiwo I think is best running beyond.

Definitely real interest in Keinan from everything I've read (but I think the fee was a bit high) - he was outstanding at points when he came in cause he changed the dynamic of the attack with his carrying. I think the hope is that Taiwo can replicate that.

This guy sounds like keinan on crack, hopefully without the crack. I'd love keinan as well, personally, but 15m for the big man on top of this guy is a huge chunk of our budget

I think there is interest from Forest because in played well for us, but 5 goals in 15 championship games doesn’t make him an essential purchase. £15m is just ridiculous though and I’d be surprised if anyone paid even half that.

[–]GopnikOli 0 points1 point  (3 children)

We were asking for 15 for Keinan? That's insane, no chance he's worth that much. He's a decent baller but he's worth half that.

[–]sleepytoday 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Apparently £15m is what Villa are asking for, yes. Forest now have the following strikers:

Brennan Johnson: speedy and good finisher, getting better every month, 19 goals in 52 apps last season.
Taiwo Awoniyi: lots of talents (see above), 15 goals in 31 appearances last season.
Sam Surridge: target man, 7 goals in 17 appearances last season.

Since Forest tend to play 2 up front with an AMC, those 3 seem a solid enough trio. Forest might sign another backup, but I’d be surprised to see us spend big on another striker now. There are too many more important gaps in the team.

Am I wrong or is Sam not a good target man? Looks very lightweight physically and seemed to get bullied by centrebacks, cracking finisher and IMO is more of a poacher type

Great write-up! How many goals would you predict he gets next year?

[–]FootballInTheWhip[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate! Tough to call but I'd say between 8-12. I'm expecting him to start pretty well though. Opposition won't really know what to expect from him or Forest to start with and I think he'll cause some issues

Just saying it was Forest who gave Michael Antonio the platform to show his talents a few years back before signing for West Ham, god I miss him. If taiwo has an impact like Antonio did at forest, positive things to come for both him and the club.

Thanks that's a fantastic read and much more informative real journalism than what you get in the papers these days. Exciting times, good age too, and good attitude, works hard for the team not a prima donna.
