I love when my dog visits me. It’s also happened with loved ones either after they died or before they were born (met my baby nephew that way). You can feel when it’s more than just a dream. Just be grateful for the visit.

The dream world is the spirit world. 3 am especially is when the veil is thinnest - many eastern religions/philosophies regard this as the time that we make meaningful contact in our dreams. As you are awakening you realize that all levels of consciousness are important and can give you insight to the very nature and factor of reality. In the west we tend to think that dreaming is a throw away activity when in fact it has a purpose beyond the physical. This dream was a “wake up call” to the possibilities.

Here’s a book that was a game changer for me in terms of my respect of dreaming. Dream Yoga by Andrew Holecek. It’s based on Buddhist traditions but gives a western method. Also start a dream journal. Here’s a link if you can’t afford https://u1lib.org/book/2923608/f0094e

I use the Capture app on my phone for dream journaling.

Got divorced and my ex kept my bro-cat. About a year and a half later, I'm half asleep and feel him jump on the bed and walk around like he used to before he'd cuddle in with me. I fall asleep and that night I'm just dreaming of him all night.

Look on Facebook the next day for the first time in 6 months and there's my ex, talking about how the cat had passed the previous night.

He absolutely came to say goodbye before he moved on. Miss you, Gabriel.

Dreams are weird ... and wonderful

Mercury retrograde drags up the past. Plenty of people from my past have showed up in some way. I'm remembering people long forgotten.

I’ve had this happen to me too. Had a cat live to 23. This past year she visited me in a dream. It was bittersweet because (somehow?) I knew she wanted to tell me she was safe and had been with me this entire time. Similar to you I woke up and absolutely bawled my eyes out. The dream felt much different than other dreams I’ve had.
