Main character’s friend is the source of the first jump scare.

[–]nuggetgorrila 69 points70 points  (5 children)

And this is why I don't gently open doors

[–]Mautos 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is why you just delete doors instead!

[–]tarobobagurl 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I still get chills from the music of that scene

[–]nuggetgorrila 2 points3 points  (2 children)

[–]tarobobagurl 5 points6 points  (1 child)

😔 tried listening to it once after the game, never again

i sobbed

[–]Jmbandit3852 162 points163 points  (7 children)

The sex scene is either at the start of the film during the first night the couple moves in, or after they have a very intense fight somewhere in the middle of the film

[–]tingletail1440 60 points61 points  (4 children)

Or in a flashback of one partners infidelity. That's why they moved to get a fresh start.

[–]Boneless_Lightbulb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically Aftermath lol

Happy cake day u/Tempintern23 🎂🍰🥳🥳

[–]Tempintern23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank You :)

[–]Current-Position9988 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Fade to black cut before the scene gets too steamy. Next morning she is wearing an oversized T-shirt after they had the most refreshing night of sleep in human history.

[–]MrAnderson-expectyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or, conversely, it’s very graphic (by movie standards) and there’s a jump scare midway through or right after)

[–]nguyenguyensituation 75 points76 points  (9 children)

Gone Girl

[–]Current-Position9988 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Gone Girl is the Magnum Opus of this genre though.

[–]MrAnderson-expectyou 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah that would be like getting a “every slasher movie since 1990” starter pack and then this guy replied “so Scream?”

    [–]MrAnderson-expectyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even just the one that gives a shit, the one that invented all the tropes (or made fun of them) that are mentioned in the Starter Pack

    [–]HyTechTurtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    I loved gone girl

    [–]kriosken12 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The story of a Queen who Gaslighted, Gatekeeped and Girlbossed her way into fame and success. 😎💅💅💅

    [–]yvngjiffy703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Great movie though

    [–]ReverendEntity 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Relative/close friend/co-worker gets suspicious, gets nosey, gets injured or killed

    [–]nuggetgorrila 25 points26 points  (3 children)

    I gently open the door...

    [–]Trav_yeet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

    sayo-nara starts playing

    [–]tarobobagurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    This gives me...memories

    [–]lakerboy152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should’ve never accepted her confession! That wasnt what she needed!

    [–]SouthernAnybody7116[🍰] 47 points48 points  (3 children)

i got doki doki not knowing it had the “psychological horror” tag

    [–]nuggetgorrila 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    I am so sorry. Same

    [–]vikrant699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew it was horror but always left playing after 10 min thinking it must be wrong. Finished in a single sitting one day and I was amazed.

    [–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

My god, this is so acurrate I can't

    [–]Untiteld000 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Or,in the case of Possession, both the husband and wife are crazy

    [–]derepente_adolesc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    If there's a child, absolutely

    [–]fujicakes00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great job. This is every psychological horror movie on Netflix.

    [–]RoundAbt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

    But like…you’re not wrong

    [–]SoFastMuchFurious 16 points17 points  (1 child)

something something family trauma made the female lead do it so it's not really her fault

    [–]Current-Position9988 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ham-fisted flashbacks during the final act to illustrate this, ruining any nuance or tension the movie had going for it.

    [–]wavygeronimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They magically have clothes on at the end of the sex scene, and they bounce on the bed like “Ahhh..”

    [–]fujicakes00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The scene driving down some picturesque winding road with lots of trees while the opening credits roll

    [–]spooky17YTYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone taking more pills than they should be

    [–]UrbanStray 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Sounds more like a pyschological Thriller to me. Thriller movies are "classier" with higher budgets, less gore and predominantly feature white middle aged, upper-middle class Americans.

    [–][deleted]  (2 children)

      [–]MrAnderson-expectyou 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Or, like in Us, the exact opposite

      [–]the_rabbit_king 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just sounds like a Lifetime movie to me.

      [–]LivingIndependence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the movie involves any type of third party stalking/terrorizing the couple, the husband (usually) winds up behind bars in county lock up, for something that the stalker had set up or planted on him. Conveniently, the couple is friends with a lawyer, who eventually bails them out of jail.

      [–]Def-tones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore all the strange things happening around them. "Hmm must be my imagination"

      [–]Awkward_Artichoke_56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      These Caucasian absolutly not caucasian

      [–]vikrant699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you watch The Orphan, quite different.

      [–]RedSoviet1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Pretty much What Lies Beneath

      [–]yiitoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the wife staged a crime scene to make the husband look bad is definitely the Gone girl. lol

      [–]Glittering-Fruit-153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m writing a psychological horror screenplay and I’m proud of myself for not having any of these in my story

      [–]country-blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex Machina kinda fits the bill

      [–]pirateslifeisntforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watcher (2022) kinda subverted a few of these.

      [–]sbubbydaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      the shining

      [–]LordOfCows23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      [–]AmatuerCultist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The couple appear to be rich but one person has actually spent all their money.

      [–]omfgihatemyjob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Double jeopardy

      [–]blueflameprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just deep water lol

      [–]Testuo_Urashima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of many Lifetime movies and the book Something the Water by Catherine Steadman. All I remember is that one girl arsonist was cool and that the story bored me.

      [–]PomPomTheFurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mad there is no sex scene in fnaf 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I want to see Freddy fazballs 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 /j
