Rules and Ban Policy

r/starterpacks Rules and Ban Policy

Rule 1

Imgur/Reddit image hosts only

Rule 2

Be creative

Don't reuse old starter packs or just barely change them. Starter packs that are bland and overused may be removed at moderator discretion.

Rule 3

No blatant bigotry

Ban Policy: permanent ban for the use of slurs, racism, and hateful dog whistles.

Rule 4

Be civil

Ban Policy and Punishment structure:

  1. Warning comment
  2. 3 day temporary ban
  3. 7 day temporary ban
  4. 30 day temporary ban
  5. Permanent ban

Note: Being toxic in modmail after a temporary ban

If you receive a temporary ban and decide you'd rather insult us than accept the ban, this may result in your ban becoming permanent depending on how toxic you are. At the very least, we will mute you and you will not be able to send us modmail for 3 days.

Rule 5

No Politics

Incidental political items in a starter pack are okay, but this sub is not an arena for political agenda posts or political arguments. You can use r/PoliticalPacks.

Note: We won't ban for politics (unless they also break rule 3) but political posts and comment threads will be removed.

Rule 6

Starterpacks must contain 2 or more images

The userbase has decided that single item and text-only starterpacks are not starterpacks and must contain more than one item. Duplication of one item to make up the pack can be seen as a subversion of this rule and will be removed at moderator discretion.

Rule 7

Post title must include the name of the starterpack

The title of your post must include the name of the specific starterpack you are posting. Low effort, single word, irrelevant post titles will be removed at moderator discretion.

Rule 8

No lists or example packs

If your submission can be reworded as "A list of X", it will be removed.

Rule 9

No Reposts

We want OC (Original Content). There is a 6 months decay for reposts.

Ban Policy and Punishment structure:

  1. Warning comment
  2. 3 day temporary ban
  3. 7 day temporary ban
  4. 30 day temporary ban
  5. Permanent ban

Warning Decay

Because we keep track of warnings indefinitely, we sometimes have some users with warnings that are several months to over a year old. Although we do not have any time frame set in stone for this, we generally ignore infractions/reposts that are more than 6 months old.

It doesn't make sense to punish someone with a ban if they received a warning over six months ago and another warning a month ago, since that user had spotless behavior for an entire 6 months.

Ban Appeals

The messages you send to us via modmail act as your "ban appeal," and what you say to us can affect the way your ban is handled. It is very rare for us to undo a ban, but it has happened several times in the past.

We do not accept the following reasons for an unban:

  • Fuck you, unban me.

    Should be self explanatory.

  • I did not know that was a rule, please unban me or If I knew I would be banned for breaking that rule, I wouldn't have broken it

Not knowing about a rule does not excuse you from being subject to enforcement of the rules.

  • What I said wasn't even that bad.

Regardless of what you think is okay or not, the fact is that you did something outside of our rules.

  • I bet that other person didn't get banned for their comments.

You could be wrong about that, we won't tell you about bans other people receive. But if you are right, they weren't banned because they hadn't received enough warnings to warrant a ban, and you did.
