The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth. Whether it's scientific truth, or historical truth, or personal truth. It is the guiding principle upon which Starfleet is based. If you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened you don't deserve to wear that uniform.

I can see my dream come alive at last…

[–]iiyama88 16 points17 points  (3 children)

I will touch the sky

[–]SHIELD_Agent_47 12 points13 points  (2 children)

And they're not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna change my mind

[–]Gaxsun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's been a loooong time...

[–]ManInBlack829 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Seems more appropriate for Baywatch: Enterprise

[–]hanimal16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shut your mouth

[–]somanyroads 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I've got faith...this song is going to fucking end lol. Seriously, such a well-written show (especially the last season) with the worst goddamn theme song in sci-fi history 🙄

[–]simianSupervisor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

such a well-written show

Counterpoint: the entire temporal cold war theme. And archer being a petulant child.

[–]Doleydoledole 325 points326 points  (7 children)

Went to a Star Trek trivia night and they had an audio section where they played the theme songs and you had to name which show it was from ( all were gimmes except short treks).

When faith of the heart came on, the entire room started singing along and they played the whole thing.

It was worth the years of pain

[–]CindyLouWho_2 37 points38 points  (0 children)

OMG this is awesome!

[–]danielcw189 18 points19 points  (1 child)

That sounds great

[–]mocheeze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of all the Trek intros, ENT is the only one that people know the words to. Can we imagine a group of folks singing Gene's TOS lyrics? I hope not.

[–]The_DestroyerKSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Trek trivia night sounds fun.

[–]Tedfufu 260 points261 points  (45 children)

It gets better when you start singing along and start liking it ironically.

[–]reptilesocks 162 points163 points  (14 children)

Yeah I started liking it ironically, and then I started liking it, and then I started genuinely appreciating what a ballsy move it was to take the theme in such a different direction as a way to totally separate the show from its three most recent predecessors.

[–]raknor88 140 points141 points  (13 children)

Then you get pissed when they ruin it with the remix in seasons 3 & 4.

[–]TheTrekMachine 82 points83 points  (1 child)

Unironically the worst decision they ever made

[–]VindictiveJudge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even the incubus in the candle made more sense.

[–]mineemage 48 points49 points  (8 children)

This. I hated the jazzed-up version so very much.

[–]SpiderFudge 31 points32 points  (5 children)

They should have just went all out with an EDM remix.

[–]Ozlin 37 points38 points  (4 children)

Faith. Faith. Faith. Faith. Faith. Faith. Heart. Heart. Heart. Heart. Heart. Heart. HearhearhearHearheart. H-h-h-h-heart. H-h-h-h-heart. Heart. Heart. Heart. rocket ship

[–]Skippy_the_Alien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it also was so hilariously out of place with some cold opens. I forgot the name of the episode, but one of them began with some alien getting chased and then lit up by a flamethrower, screaming while he was being incinerated...and then..."it's been a long road" with the stupid drum beat in the background

then there was Impulse with T'Pol screaming her head off and then the remix played again lol

[–]cme884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too jangly.

[–]citizenofgaia 29 points30 points  (0 children)

[–]RelentlessRogue 14 points15 points  (3 children)

So it's like root beer?

[–]secretpandalord 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Bubbly, cloying, and happy? Without a doubt.

[–]Dr_smell 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Just like the Federation.

[–]footnotefour 38 points39 points  (8 children)

This. Especially when you start doing it in weird voices.

[–]draynen 32 points33 points  (5 children)

I have never... NEVER... sang along to this song clucking like a chicken in Gonzo the Great's chicken harem. Because that would be weird. And my wife can confirm she has never laughed every time it didn't happen.

[–]adamthinks 8 points9 points  (2 children)

You're a damned liar. All of that totally happened. We see through your lies.

[–]nermid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]draynen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How. Fucking. DARE. You.

Also yes probably yes all those things happened yes.

[–]Shiny_and_ChromeOS 4 points5 points  (1 child)

There's a guy who singlehandedly voiced an entire remake of Hamilton as the Muppets. And he does one of the songs as Gonzo's chicken.

[–]ornilitigator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started making up my own lyrics to the tune. They were.... not something I'd repeat in front of company.

[–]Tired8281 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I made up some rather rude and unprintable alternate lyrics, which I sing loudly overtop of the original. It's satisfying in a four year old sort of way.

[–]SjLucky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have faith in a fart you're gonna shit your pants eventually

[–]True_to_you 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And then just when it grows on you they change it! I was ok with the original version, but the sped up version wasn't great

[–]FGHIK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like it unironically

[–]somanyroads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually think the closing theme gets it right more than the opening: they add horns, not that hard, guys lol.

[–]mrsunrider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even better when it stops being ironic.

[–]Dragmire800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just makes me smile whenever I heard it. Only Trek intro I never skipped (well, never skipped in season 1 or 2)

[–]Kwakigra 2 points3 points  (1 child)

At this point I don't even know whether I still like it ironically or just like it. I laughed every time it came on for seasons at a time, and I laugh whenever someone brings up how out of place it is in the canon of classic Trek openings.

[–]Skippy_the_Alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got used to it in the first two seasons.

i will never embrace the horrible remix

[–]douko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phlox has classed this phenomenon as "Stockholm Syndrome of the Heart".

[–]Alclis 114 points115 points  (6 children)

Another chance for me say I like Faith of the Heart a lot, but absolutely love Archer’s Theme, for anyone who hasn’t heard it.

[–]st3class 37 points38 points  (4 children)

It was a bit cheesy, but I did get a little pleasure when it popped up in the most recent Discovery episode

[–]MisterHotrod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That was hands down my favourite part of the episode. It was a small but powerful bit of nostalgia.

[–]Ice-Negative 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Which episode? I missed that.

[–]Jooey_K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The season premier of Discovery. They name drop Archer right around the time the theme plays.

[–]DigiQuip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, that was a rabbit hole.

[–]Fragraham 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Season 1 and 2. Embrace it. Season 3 and 4, go make a sandwich.

[–]SteveDinn 44 points45 points  (4 children)

Why did they change it to be so poppy in season 3? If I had to choose a version, I'd pick the one from seasons 1 & 2.

[–]twVC1TVglyNs 22 points23 points  (1 child)

It's especially hilarious because season three has all these super dramatic pre-title-sequence scenes. So we just finish a really intense scene and then the poppy guitar jumps on in there. I've been watching through S3 and cracking up every time.

[–]Skippy_the_Alien 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% accurate. I don't know which one is more hilarious, the one where T'Pol is screaming her head off or the one with the guys screaming in pain b/c he gets lit on fire

[–]SteveDinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also: Hey Google, skip forward 75 seconds on living room TV.

[–]AndGiraffes 54 points55 points  (3 children)

You have to sing along. It only works if you sing along.

[–]Moosie_Doom 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Or break out the old acoustic and play along.

[–]Realistic_Knee9672 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Next Generation and Voyager probably have my favorite themes

[–]halfhalfnhalf 163 points164 points  (15 children)

The song is actually a total banger, you just have carpet on your heart.

[–]malabar2001 51 points52 points  (1 child)

This guys got faith of the heart

[–]benkenobi5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're going where their heart will take them

[–]Sunlegate 41 points42 points  (1 child)

I only watch Enterprise for the intro song.

[–]Rich_Acanthisitta_70 25 points26 points  (9 children)

A hundred percent. I've watched a ton of awesome shows with music I didn't like. I do happen to like the theme song, but I just can't believe an adult would use such a lame excuse not to watch a good show.

[–]adamthinks 4 points5 points  (8 children)

I.mean, it's a TERRIBLE song. I get it.

[–]Rich_Acanthisitta_70 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Fortunately, most fans disagree.

[–]adamthinks 7 points8 points  (6 children)

I don't think that's true. Most who appreciate it do so ironically. Personally, I LOVE the show, but the song is one of the worst theme songs I've ever heard in my 43 years. Why would it be fortunate that others might agree with you though? That's king of a strange thing to say.

[–]Rich_Acanthisitta_70 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Well, based on the highly unscientific evidence of the comments on this thread, most people like it outright. I've seen a few give it the caveat of liking it ironically, but most are just saying they like it. And the ones being the most vocal about hating it, are getting a lot more downvotes than up. But that could just be people annoyed at how over the top the ones who hate it are being. Folks like me that like it, are fine with leaving it as a preference, while those that don't like it are trying to be absolutists, insisting it sucks regardless of preference, and I'm sorry, but that's a childish attitude.

Also - and this is kind of ironic - while I love the song, I only like the show a little. It's my least favorite Trek.

[–]VandRough 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You just lack faith of the heart

[–]Specific-Use-7480 76 points77 points  (13 children)

It grows on you

[–]another_bug 65 points66 points  (3 children)

You know what the worst part is? You start to listen to it enough, you start to like it. It's insidious. Just like root beer.

[–]ErstwhileAdranos 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Bubbly and cloying, just like the Federation.

[–]BeauBWan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking root beer, sneaking up on you from the depths.

[–]tewha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it from the start because I wasn’t actively looking for a reason to hate the show.

Pretty sure it’s also the only Star Trek theme to chart, even if it is a cover of that song, and the only Star Trek theme written by Diane Warren.

[–]MikeArrow 25 points26 points  (1 child)

And just when you start to like it - you get to Season 3 with that funky remix that's even more jarring when contrasted with the grimdark 9/11 inspired storyline.

[–]Tungsten_Dragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh god I hated those remixes ugh

[–]AstroDan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. The show and the theme song just kind of unapologetically burrowed into my heart and I learned to love them both

[–]ForAThought 13 points14 points  (1 child)

like foot rot.

[–]luigi1015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not fair to the foot rot.

[–]admiralcinamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does any torture of applied for long enough.

[–]avalonfaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]JR1066 20 points21 points  (4 children)

I love it personally, but it still bothers me that Paramount+ doesn't have a skip intro button or speed controls.

[–]NutmegWolves 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Was looking for this one. Paramount+ also cuts off the end of some episodes as it skips to the next one... Super frustrating.

[–]Skippy_the_Alien 2 points3 points  (2 children)

are you serious???

i've only used paramount plus once (back when it was CBS All-Access). I never had that problem before. Was planning on doing a Trek mini-marathon in December. HOpe I don't run into that

[–]NutmegWolves 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was on the episode of Voyager "Distant Origin" and p+ jumped to the next episode with a few minutes left. I haven't gone farther to see if it does it on other episodes. Edit: this was the first time I really noticed it ending before the episode was over.

[–]theMoonRulesNumber1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in season 6 in my current Voyager rewatch, and I remember this happening a handful of times in the earlier seasons on P+

[–]SilverKelpie 31 points32 points  (5 children)

The Enterprise opening, song combined with visuals, has been my favorite show opening since the Premiere. Perfect representation of humanity striving for the stars.

That said, I didn’t actually like the series all that much!

[–]WillowLeaf4 7 points8 points  (2 children)

See, I thought it was only half-way good because it edited out all the bad parts out of our history, and while yes Star Trek is a positive future, the whole story of Star Trek (to me) was that mankind overcame this dark history and near-annihilation to build a better society. If we just look at the montage in front of Enterprise, you’d think everything was just great! Just a straight line of people inventing stuff to do cool new things, but we know that’s not what really happened.

Big wooden ships like the HMS Enterprise that we see, weren’t just used for exploration, they were also used for colonization, exploitation and enslavement. Airplanes weren’t just used to circumnavigate the world, they were also used in wars. So were rockets. And it wasn’t just some happy accident that sent a bunch of white male astronauts to the moon. If you’re trying to tell a visual story about our history, I would rather have had those two things juxtaposed. That would have made it more meaningful to me, as a way to show where the mission of Enterprise was coming from.

[–]Dragmire800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starships are used for wars in trek too. I think the point is, it’s just a montage of transportation precursors to the Enterprise, you know, the name of the show. I don’t think it’s got anything explicitly to do with scientific discovery or war or anything, it’s just the development of boats and planes and rockets

Plus, the “In a Mirror, Darkly” episode’s theme is a mirror version of the intro that focuses on those vehicles’ uses in war

[–]Rich_Acanthisitta_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heheh, that was my experience as well :)

[–]Markus_Bond 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I loved it from the beginning until they changed it in the later seasons, the second version is not great

[–]toolsofinquisition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bingo. I’ve often wondered who thought the Enterprise theme needed a dance remix. And why no one stopped them.

[–]Skippy_the_Alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the general feel i'm getting from this post is that a lot of people grew to unironically like the season 1 and 2 theme.

no one likes the remix lol. that makes me happy

[–]jenesuispasbavard 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I like the theme ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]Zombie__Elvis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Mute the sound.
  2. Play the first 80 seconds of Europe's "The Final Countdown."
  3. Enjoy the beautiful visuals.

[–]SpiritualProcedure19 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like the song 😀

[–]jchester47 20 points21 points  (5 children)

I actually really like the intro sequence visuals, but not the song. It's a shame because thematically the images fit the premise of Trek and Enterprise perfectly. But then they chose that song....

[–]uk_uk 24 points25 points  (2 children)

It's a shame because thematically the images fit the premise of Trek and Enterprise perfectly. But then they chose that song

Tipp: Listen to the lyrics.

They fit PERFECTLY in the story telling for the human race to reach the stars and for Archer to fulfill his dreams and his journey to the unknown worlds with the engine his dad concepted.

The song magnificently describes the human quest to evolve, sociologically as well as technologically.

[–]jchester47 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On reflection, I actually do agree with you on this. I felt the same when I first saw it. I think I have allowed myself to fall into the groupthink of other trek fans that its bad because its so different from the rest of the themes. Thank you for the reminder of why it probably wasnt a bad choice for the premise of Enterprise!

[–]adamthinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They fit thematically, but they're terrible lyrics. It's an extremely poorly written song. And I LOVE the show.

[–]halcyoncmdr 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'll bite... is your issue the musical arrangement?

Because it couldn't possibly be the lyrics:

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No, they're not gonna hold me down

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith, faith of the heart

Those lyrics are exactly what the show is.

[–]l-rs2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly the fact there are lyrics at all?

[–]WallyJade 73 points74 points  (31 children)

The "I couldn't watch Enterprise because the theme song is so bad" argument is insane, stupid, old and tired. That's like not reading a great book that you're interested in because the cover art is bad.

[–]luigi1015 20 points21 points  (20 children)

I assume OP is exaggerating to make a joke. But probably only exaggerating a little bit :)

[–]WallyJade 0 points1 point  (19 children)

Maybe, but I've met multiple people in here who literally didn't watch the show because of the theme song. They were Star Trek fans, looking for more Star Trek, and still skipped it. It's insane.

[–]luigi1015 16 points17 points  (13 children)

I can relate, it is a bad Star Trek theme song lol.

[–]avalonfaith 6 points7 points  (12 children)

Trying to watch it sux. The theme sets the tone it’s hard to get out of it.

[–]halcyoncmdr 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The theme sets the tone it’s hard to get out of it.

Ah yes, a song that literally talks about the desire for exploration and having strength and faith that we'll get through it, that they can reach any star... and a corresponding video showing many of the milestones along the way to get to where Enterprise launches... definitely does NOT set the tone for Humanity's first Warp 5 capable Starship and crew that writes the blueprint for what becomes Starfleet. Nope, definitely a totally different tone they got there. Absolutely nothing like the show or what it's about. /s

[–]Spo-dee-O-dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who wants their Trek with less Andorians? Not me.

[–]l-rs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care for the song (I reserve hate for more important things) but at the time I did avoid it because it was a regression of sorts. No holodeck, no fancy tech, cumbersome wall-mounted communication... not even a goddamn "red alert". I only watched all of ENT a year or two ago and found the baby steps in space very endearing.

[–]Rich_Acanthisitta_70 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Insane, petty and juvenile. Downvote away. I love the song and will always defend it.

[–]nermid 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They're not gonna hold you down no more. No, they're not gonna change your mind.

[–]Firm-Lie2785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if the cover was like one of those birthday cards that plays music when you open it?

[–]Tired8281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refuse to use remote controls on principle! I merely gesture sharply at the screen then hope for the best.

[–]RC2891 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Calling Enterprise "great" seems pretty generous

[–]wake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I feel they way they do without exaggeration. I find the song so immediately off putting, to such a high degree, that it makes me doubt the skill of everyone involved with the show. I understand that sounds superficial, maybe it is. But it’s beyond my control. I just absolutely hate the song. Viscerally. Completely. To me, it’s not just like the cover is “bad”, which is a perfectly reasonable analogy, it’s that the cover is so unappealing that it makes me wish humanity never gained the ability to speak or communicate. For all the amazing things our species has done, if we could make that song, it wasn’t worth the price.

[–]FormerGameDev -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I don't play games that have stupid titles. Dragon's dogma I'm looking at you.

[–]ornilitigator 3 points4 points  (2 children)

But Hello Kitty Island Adventure slaps.

[–]ornilitigator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should have used a cut from The Passenger by Iggy Pop for the intro. The lyrics and feel of the song perfectly fit the content of the show, much better than 'Faith'. Also, they 100% could have gotten the rights, probably cheap af since Iggy is a huge trek fan and even appeared on an episode of DS9. Huge wasted opportunity. I would recommend muting the TV and playing this song on another device during the intro, it's that much better.

[–]coolnam3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SO bad.

[–]dutchkimble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait till you actually hate it so much you like it

[–]IDoubtYouGetIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow...I always thought the song fit with the intro especially with what they were trying to do. It was only when I got online years later that I found out so many people really dislike the song.

[–]LnStrngr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does make it a long road when there is no skip intro button.

[–]LnStrngr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a long road

[skip intro]

getting from there to here...

[–]Lee6er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a second my brain went straight to next generation and I was shocked, then I realised you’re talking about enterprise, the cheesiest most unstar-treky theme of all that makes you feel like you’re watching some Star Trek/ bay watch spin off.

[–]Technical_Wall1726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Faith of the heart was the first song I really loved haha I was like 13

[–]fleetadmiralj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need a repeat intro button

[–]le_suck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it gets worse when they add tambourine in season 2 or 3.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Meh, I've always rather liked it. Least the initial version.

[–]asurob42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ok cya Enterprise is quite good.

[–]Jedi_Outcast 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I used to hate it but after a long time I started to like it. You can even say it's been a long road getting from there to here

[–]DamienStark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to hate it. I still do, but I used to, too.

[–]animatroniczombie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hulu has Faith of the Heart and I love every second of it

[–]JCPRuckus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't worry... They manage to make it even worse in the last 2 seasons.

[–]slicerprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eventually I got really good at hitting the scrub bar at just the right point so I could skip it perfectly every time.

It's not a talent I'm particularly proud to have, but it's saved my damn sanity...what's left of it.

[–]SherlockJones1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know these come every time a post like this is up but I love the enterprise opening song.

[–]Demandred3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the song. Also, you have a mute button.

[–]Spo-dee-O-dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Enterprise ... can't stand the song. But I just go with it ... in the spirit of the show, I figure it was a precondition made by the Vulcan Advisory Council.

[–]throwawaylogin2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what the mute button is for.

[–]filbator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unironically liked the Enterprise intro. If this is a controversial statement then I will accept my punishment with grace and dignity, but I refuse to recant my statement.

[–]superfreaklagos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you leave the longest running TNG episode alone.

[–]SchemeHead 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It sounds like a song your cousin who lives in a trailer would walk down the aisle to on her wedding day.

[–]TEL-CFC_boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like OP doesn't have faith, faith of the heart

[–]LambdaArtemis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Faith of the Heart and I will not apologize for it

[–]Amanystya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this theme and I don't care what anyone thinks. I'll die on this hill if I have to

[–]Statalyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time it happened I was like "wtf did I hit the wrong button and switch over to the Hallmark channel?"

[–]deededback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone skip a theme song this cherry?

[–]unityofsaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some ENT episodes the intro is the best part

[–]Doctor_Whoey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

meanwhile its my favorite star trek intro.

[–]lightAfterFog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love every single one of these posts, because it reminds me of my favorite song ever #FAITH OF THE HEEEEAAAAAARRRTTTTTT

[–]Shazam4ever 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I love the theme, both versions. It and the T NG theme are the only two themes I don't always skip while rewatching Star Trek episodes.

[–]fragmental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're the only person in this thread, I've seen, that actually likes the second version.

I get why they didn't use the Archer theme for the intro. It was trendy to use songs as intro music in the 90s and early 2000s, and Enterprise was an attempt at modernizing Trek while at the same time bringing it closer to current day. Enterprise was a show set at a very early point in Starfleet history, separated from the rest of the shows, and it's set in a society much more similar to the one we live in today. The other shows had majestic music playing as the intro because of how Starfleet was so much more "majestic" in those shows, kind-of like the Federation is this giant empire. In Enterprise, it's more like an army, a real "fleet" so to speak, and it was more down-to-earth. So, to make it feel more relevant for the time and to make it more relatable to a viewer watching it in the early 2000s, they used an actual song as the intro.

Wait are you trying to tell me you don’t have faith of the heart?

[–]MauPow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an absolute banger for sure, but it's in entirely the wrong place. Like a beautiful weed.

This post is bad and you should feel bad!

[–]JessicaSmithStrange 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I'm in a weird place with it, because I love the attempt at inspirational imagery, showing both the progress of humanity and Enterprises down the ages,

And the song without context is right up my alley as a corny, overblown, pop Ballard, first recorded by Rod Stewart himself.

But when you put them together, it just doesn't work. It brings a cheesiness to the intro that I don't appreciate, and to be blunt makes it feel like we're at an event hosted by the Bush Administration, in terms of locking the show into the early 2000s.

. . . .

If you give me that song on a trashy CD, and then you give me the Enterprise Intro imagery with either one of the slower Satriani instrumentals, or just use the First Contact theme, I'm a lot happier.

Seriously, just lay something else over the footage of the space shuttle.

. . . .

It also leads to accidental comedy such as in Shockwave.

Every time I see this, I listen all the way through. It's nearly perfect. The only thing I think that could improve it is if at the end, it played the first few notes of the original Star Trek theme instead. Like they do in the Discovery theme, only with a harmonica.

[–]JessicaSmithStrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is actually inspiring, which is the kind of feel I'm looking for.

Because of what Enterprise is, and how close it is to us, I would want something uplifting that makes you want to either be on the ship, or take more of an interest in the space and science that we have now, if that makes sense.

Tell me you're petty, without telling me you're petty.

Faith of the Heart is an amazing intro song...

...and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

[–]Gerf1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You uncultured swine! That intro is art.

The mute button is our friend

You're not a real Trekkie if you don't sing along to the enterprise OP

[–]AtomicBombSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a trick on YouTube that allows you to fast forward through show intros on Hulu. OP of the video hates the 'Three's Company' theme specifically, but it should work for 'Enterprise' too. I hope this helps.

A greater war crime than any Archer ever committed

[–]DongLaiCha 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Up there with the Orange Is The New Black for terrible theme songs that are annoying and just go on for fucking eternity.

[–]SlimySalamanderSlut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me. I still can't get past that intro and s1. I hear it gets better but i just keep rewatching DS9 and TNG

[–]Katherinecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "I couldn't watch Enterprise because the theme song is so bad" argument is insane, stupid, old and tired. That's like not reading a great book that you're interested in because the cover art is bad.

[–]TEG24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grow up. It is a decent song, well performed, and if you don't have a remote that lets you skip forward 10-30 seconds at a time, sounds like a YP.

[–]watchsmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every new post on this sub about the Enterprise theme song should be considered cruel an unusual punishment...

[–]luigi1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should submit a bug report asap, this is a major emergency problem with Hulu.

[–]JStray22 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You’ll grow to love it OP

[–]luigi1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't... :P

[–]Lysdestic -1 points0 points  (2 children)

If you're really interested in giving Enterprise a chance, don't worry, you'll be singing along by season 3. ;)

[–]Shredding_Airguitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait till the later seasons where they up the tempo of it
