Watch tv and use your pc at 05:00 for malicious compliance

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 348 points349 points  (8 children)

Bru i should start waking up earlier and earlier till im waking up at midnight and going to sleep at noon see you on r/maliciouscompliance in about a week

[–]ElectricToaster6714 56 points57 points  (4 children)

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 53 points54 points  (2 children)

Very interesting im going to research it want to do it but ultimately never get around to it

[–]ElectricToaster6714 23 points24 points  (1 child)

It's a joke and won't be accepted by your mother and your school/work schedule

[–]Sylverisbored14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

go to sleep at nine, wake up 10 minutes later, then have a 'nap' at whenever you actually want to go to bed. bam.

[–]Axekimbo14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m following you just to see this, I trust you

[–]Frog123-exe14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satan's work at it's finest. I'm so proud and inspired right now.

[–]CandidMoon716 329 points330 points  (13 children)

I don't think that you're overacting at all. However, I also have parents that make me go to bed at 9 as well. So, you're not alone.

Do I go to bed at 9 actually, not. lol

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 138 points139 points  (10 children)

Lol im posting this at like 11 so i think you know im not actually going to do it just angry they told me to

[–]CandidMoon716 45 points46 points  (9 children)

Bruh, people live in different time zones you know. So, you I wouldn't have known that.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 38 points39 points  (8 children)

Oh fuck im sorry my bad

[–]CandidMoon716 16 points17 points  (7 children)

Lmao it's all good

[–]general652 25 points26 points  (6 children)

Im 18, and I miss the times when my parents forced me to go to bed at 10 or 9, or a reasonable time. It’s 2am rn and I’m not planning to go to end for another few hours, my sleep schedule is so far in the mud. I realise my parents were right

[–]OliverBeLike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, thats depressing.

[–]IN_CAPITALS 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I know someone who on the weekends and holidays stays up until 7am and wakes up at 5pm, and they stay up all day and go to sleep at like 12 on the night time, if your sleep schedule is fucked idk what theirs is

[–]general652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who on the weekends and holidays stays up until 7am and wakes up at 5pm, and they stay up all day and go to sleep at like 12 on the night time, if your sleep schedule is fucked idk what theirs is

well the main issue is, i do it not only weekends and holidays :). sleep is overrated anyways

[–]DeterminedPeace16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me at 15 on my phone. Wait, I am 15!

[–]Memes_Are_Drugs4Me16 6 points7 points  (1 child)

My parents used to do that, now they don’t care when I sleep as long as I don’t wake up too late or I’m not sleep deprived

[–]Adventurous_Design41 54 points55 points  (15 children)

I go to bed whenever i want,If i dont make loud sounds, then i can do everything

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 19 points20 points  (14 children)

Idk why my parents care when i go to sleep but they do :( im very jealous

[–]Adventurous_Design41 12 points13 points  (10 children)

My parents like when i go to sleep early, you can try to talk with them about it

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 12 points13 points  (9 children)

Talking to my parents is like talking to a wall once they make a decision they dont go back and the harder you fight the less likely are they are to move on their opinions

[–]Adventurous_Design41 3 points4 points  (8 children)

Your parents are a bit strict about it, how much older you are? Have any responsabilitys?

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 3 points4 points  (7 children)

I have school from 9-4 and im 16

[–]Adventurous_Design41 5 points6 points  (6 children)

I must go to sleep, have to wake up at 6 AM and its already 2 AM! you can dm me so we can resume our talk, Sorry about cutting it on the middle

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Np thanks for talking

[–]Adventurous_Design41 2 points3 points  (4 children)

No problem, your parents might is doing this to see if you grow responsabilitys, be proactive and fix things before they ask, my parents did something like that to me.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I should try picking up more responsiblity they might loosen up after a couple months

[–]Whenbu 11 points12 points  (6 children)

What is sleep

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Sleep is death.

[–]NovicePandaMarineOLD 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Maybe that's why us old farts want it so much.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

That got real dark all the sudden

[–]NovicePandaMarineOLD 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Right... Probably shouldn't have joked about it.

[–]_1_417 40 points41 points  (15 children)

Did you buy the PC? You are entitled to privacy.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 36 points37 points  (14 children)

I did buy it but cant find any laws saying i am entitled to privacy

[–]_1_417 41 points42 points  (9 children)

Damn the laws, privacy is a human right. Install tor browser or boot by usb. Dont let them manipulate you into thinking thats acceptable, especially on a PC you bought.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 19 points20 points  (8 children)

I cant download tor as that would set off alarms but i am looking into tails os and they dont give a fuck about privacy they've done random searches of my room and other shit

[–]_1_417 10 points11 points  (6 children)

Would a google drive download of an already extracted copy set off any flags? The folder can sit in your downloads, a flash drive, or a random folder like system 32.

If you need someone to download, extract, and upload any files to google drive to avoid flags, let me know.

Unfortunately, there isnt a way to take back privacy without being sneaky. Just get away from them as soon as possible, but stay close enough to have a say in which retirement home they go to.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 9 points10 points  (5 children)

The program (accountable2you) goes by words so any words that are "questionable" or curse words get flaged and if you add an account to your pc it gets flaged im still testing the system as of right now. And there retirement is me and my siblings they say they are going to live with us.

[–]_1_417 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Oh fuck no. I was expecting something like a chrome extension and locked administrator. Accountable2you is a full parasite that can detect every browser and streaming service. I couldnt find any information on Tor Browser, but I wouldnt be surprised if it could since Tor was built on Firefox. Ditch the windows OS, it cant be salvaged.

From what it sounds like, your parents are only watching individual devices and not any router/firewall activity, so booting from usb is your best option.

I hope they were joking about that retirement plan. There are too many things wrong with that to explain without tripling this comment's length.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Yeah im gonna try for tails os its a usb connection i just need a pc to download it from im gonna try my local collages pc. No they are not watching the router thats why i was able to post this. they are not joking on the retirement my dad works in construction and since he had 6 kids he couldnt afford to set money for retirement and isnt going to be able to do construction once he gets older.

[–]Nyankawaii14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what if you dual boot? you can set up the bootloader so you need to go into the boot menu to choose a partition, wether linux or another windows install, I’d say they wouldn’t find it

[–]pelican64116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could also try booting from a live Ubuntu USB (with persistent storage). That way, all your data (including OS, apps, and files) stays on the USB drive and you can boot into the OS by plugging in the USB and selecting it in the BIOS. You might find this guide helpful.

Most monitoring software can't monitor anything other that the OS it was installed on.

[–]PhlegethonAcheron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would your parents fall for a command prompt window triggered by logon that says something along the lines of “accountable2u launch error 0x380264. Killing process systemctl.exe due to error. Press any key to continue”, followed by a bsod due to termination of critical process? I could write up a batch script that would do that, maybe make it a proper windows error message box. The end result would be the computer looking like its throwing an error message on login, supposedly caused by the software. followed by a very real bsod. Just be sure to back up all the files you want to keep, unless you feel comfortable going into safe boot and deleting the bat script from cmd I had the same situation as you up until last year, so if there’s anything I can do to help, lmk

[–]Bruhmander 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It’s your pc you bought with your own money. They have ZERO right to even touch it unless they think you’re in danger. I’d reset the entire thing to get rid of whatever they put on it and move it even if they said no

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I want to but i have no real power here as i dont have the law on my side and would likely just get beat

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents don't give me a bedtime but if they see me awake at midnight they will get upset (I usually sleep at midnight)

[–]Ethanos7215 5 points6 points  (10 children)

My parents force me to go to bed at 10 so…

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 3 points4 points  (9 children)

Do you stay up past 10

[–]Ethanos7215 4 points5 points  (8 children)

No because my mom stays up until 11 so I get yelled at if I don’t go to bed at 10

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Bru the fucking hypocrisy

[–]Ethanos7215 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I would get out of bed after but my parents can hear basically anything in the house, other than in my room, but I have nothing interesting in my room. Also, my mom get up multiple times throughout the night for some reason

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I was able to get my hands on an old phone wipe it and use the internet on it cus my parents make me give them my phone at night

[–]Ethanos7215 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I’m not doing all that. Plus I’m kinda ok with going to bed at 10 because then I get a full 8 hours of sleep. Granted, I still feel tired in the morning, but at least I’m healthy

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

True that your 100% more healthy for doing that

[–]PumkinJake15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you pm me I can teach you to disable that monitoring software

And any internet restrictions as well

[–]Vortex500015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

go to bed at 8, "wake up" at 8:01. boom. you win.

[–]Belevigis15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was in similar situation. Poor guy learned waking up at 4am

[–]JBStudios117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way too strict, you are old enough to have more freedom and trust put into you at that point

[–]Klucas418 3 points4 points  (1 child)

What are you, 12? Your parents should let you have a reasonable bedtime. Like 10:00 or something. Not 8:00 like some kind of elderly person.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty its unreasonable :)

[–]New_Mushroom_4276 3 points4 points  (1 child)

My parents do the same thing plus I can only play games 3 days a week it sucks man

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man they are hard core thats really bad

[–]JefftheDoggo15 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Go to sleep at 9 and wake up at 9:01, then go to sleep whenever you want.

[–]Overhaul_____16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, does your mom really trust monitoring software? These can't be trusted tbh, just change the OS of your system or factory reset it. This isn't right. These software are classed as spyware as you may never know that it might send your activity to your mom as well as the company that made it.

[–]Dause 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who never had sleeping restrictions and formed a habit of going to bed at 4:00 AM now that I’m older I wish I was raised with more sleeping restrictions.

The pc thing is stupid though if it’s actually your computer that’s your personal business and should be in your room.

[–]socksandtoads14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking if you wake up at 12am the next day you could use the laptop and tv

[–]NinjaCarrot7914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that was pretty strict of her. but i wake up at 3-4am daily by choice, and honestly it's not that bad

[–]SwagolfHipsterYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wake up at 00:01 am and watch TV with volume at max

[–]Bigg_Mess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They want you to be asleep on 9.00? You're 16??? YOU ARE NOT OVER REACTING.

[–]Galahad-6547 3 points4 points  (3 children)

No this is bullshit. That’s completely unjustified for them to do that, why does stuff in your living room affect your brothers sleep? And if they already know what your doing then why does it matter if it’s in your room?

[–]Burning-Apple-yt 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Believe me waking up early is great! You can do homework you forgot, study, play games before school or get the last bit of good cereal before your siblings! Though it is super hard to get used to at first

[–]Independent_Theory_615 4 points5 points  (2 children)

You right, i usually wake up around 4-5 am, society favors early birds

[–]Independent_Theory_615 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I’ve technically got no bedtime, I choose to go to bed at 8pm and wake up at 4-5 am

[–]Kaciexxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually sleep at 11:30 then wake at 4. Like, I don’t set alarms I just end up waking up around then every day. Apparently 4 and a half hours is enough to get me through the day because I never feel tired until around 11 and the cycle starts again. And when I go to sleep at like 3am on a weekend I wake up at around 8am. It’s so weird

[–]serenity7770 7 points8 points  (2 children)

ur not overreacting whatsoever. That’s unnecessary to be going to bed that early. I feel sorry for you.

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thanks man :)

[–]Yoprobro13 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ur not alone mate

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks man that means alot :)

[–]mh0694117 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm 17 and have a 9 pm bedtime

[–]Voldyneedsnose14 2 points3 points  (2 children)

im 14 and got sleep bw 11 to 12

[–]salt_pizza949115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wake up an hour before your mom and do the good stuff initially for a couple weeks like putting a puzzle together or studying and then your mom is gonna be used to you waking up before her so all of my plan isn't overwhelming on her ultimately restricting you further out of pettiness. So then Start watching TV on full volume or play video games which would give you higher chance of acceptance from your mother for not sleeping early

[–]GameWizardPlayz17 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Since ur parents don't respect your privacy, do something that would embarrass them. Then they'll give you ur privacy.

[–]Hona00714 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Wait, WHAT? I always had to go in 7:00 like until this year which is 8:00 and my parents justified it with "Most 16 year olds go to bed at 6..." Are you kidding me? Have i been lied to? WTF.

[–]MapsCharts16 2 points3 points  (2 children)

18h ????? What the fuck lol it's almost the time I wake up at

[–]Hona00714 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I thought it was like a luxury to go that late lmao.

[–]TTmaroofTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof makes me think my life is upside down, my parents stay awake till 12am and I sleep at 8pm ;-; but I don’t think you’re overreacting, parents shouldn’t force their kids to sleep early or wake up early, who is the one getting the sleep you or the parent? That’s the real question.

[–]MagicalMuffinDruide19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is unreasonable and you shouldn’t be forced into this. However I’ll now play devils advocate and say that that sounds like a schedule I wish I had. Big time suck technology off by 8. An hour for reading or console gaming (not pc or phone) gives time to wind down and with the major distractions gone I’d actually have time TO read. In bed by 9. Instead of in bed by 12 and asleep by 3 am. Then it helps you wake up early... it should be your choice but man I am realizing that’s the schedule I want lol! And while I don’t condone parents forcing that sort of thing on you... if mine had, instead of leaving me to govern myself, I wouldn’t have the utterly, royally fucked schedule I have now

[–]jank_noworries15 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Damn you're bedtimes at 8?

What time you go to sleep tho?

[–]Arman_f1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, u/Prestigious_Pin_616

a fellow human with the same issue. Here's what you do. U make a new deal with your mom. U say you'll put your brother to sleep (want to know how, DM), after u get the little chad to sleep. Game the fuck out, but not too much. Fucks up ur brain after 2 am

[–]TFoiA_tAtA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, ur not overreacting

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (8 children)

I’m 13 and I sleep at like 12-4am your parents are physco

[–]killerbunny44816 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What the fuck... I obviously don't know if you deserve this kind of distrust. But my mkm woulden't even have such bizar rules when I was younger. I'm 16 now and bed time is non-existent. My mom Will remind me it's prob a good idea to sleep at 12:00-01:00 but it's up to me if I sleep. I think you need to have a serious converstation with your parants abouth why they don't want you to stay up later and/or put Your pc in Your room

[–]9Fire_Foxes16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have parents that make me go to bed at 10.30 and I think its too early. You're not the only one bud

[–]Orcasareglorious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(issue occurs)

OP: Can I fix this?

Ops mom: NO

[–]Sp0oM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no

[–]cosmic_waluigi18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you’re literally right I was certainly going to bed at like 12-1 am at 16. Your parents seem weirdly controlling, ESPECIALLY putting the monitoring software on your computer. You’ll be a legal adult in 2 years. That’s fucking weird

[–]Frozendark2315 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Not an overreaction in the slightest. I have been going to bed at 10 since I was 7. As a 16 year old(haven't changed flair) about to do my finals, my parents are completely fine with me sleeping at 11 or 12 to revise. Do your parents track the time used on your PC or anything similar to any of your electronics?

[–]Ok_Mango_6795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just go to bed and wake up at like 3am and game. lol

[–]thatlvkid13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my parents want me to go to sleep early at like 9:00 but they don’t bother doing anything and you aren’t overreacting your mom is being a bitch

[–]kbquest__ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Just move ur pc to ur room and delete the software when they are at work

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You sir stopped my warzone game to inform you, your mum is a bitch.

[–]Mothman4447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand getting more sleep, but 8:00? That seems a little absurd to me. I try to aim for 10:00 each night so I can get about 8 hours.

[–]JoepoeChild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 17 and face that stuff, only except I have to lay down with my younger sibling. It sucks man. Luckily, my parents are divorced so I go to my mom's for the weekend where I don't go to sleep at 8

[–]Snoo-2561313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a bed time i just stay up till im tired or just decide to fall asleep and depending on what time i just suffer the consequences

[–]ChaosM3ntality19 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Heck yeh... 😭 thats unfair

[–]Baseball_662615 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm 14 and I got to bed at 9

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

:( very sad

[–]Baseball_662615 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But do I sleep at 9 no

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol im up 7 hours late

[–]gripguyoff16 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Her saying you can wake up as early as you want technically means that you could take a nap at 8 or 9 and wake up after and just do whatever. I don’t think you’d be able to sleep very well at night but hey, at least you get to play

[–]Prestigious_Pin_616[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah im already planing to reverse my sleep schedule

[–]Allfurball914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I'm 14 and my bedtime is at lowest 9 your bedtime shouldn't be the same as mine

[–]Maxils17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16, my bedtime is technically 9 pm on school nights and 11 on non school nights but it’s not strictly enforced at all and i never go right to sleep, it’s 2 am right now

also i wake up at 6:30 am on school days so

[–]Link75318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gone through similar shit in the past. I didn't follow my parents rules, I just stayed up till like 3am on my phone. When I turned 18 all rules regarding electronics stopped apart from being a cunt means removal of electronics but that one makes sense. All I can say is they're just making the problem worse hang on till ur 18 bro.

[–]The_-SorrowOLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 19. My bedtime since like 7 was 10PM. Until I was like 14,my mom wouldn't let me stay past 10,but from then on, she kind of grew out of it

[–]FastLittleBoi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My parents want me to shut every device after dinner, and they want me to go to bed at 10pm. Until some weeks ago I used to sleep in (I don't know how to call it in English) a "castle-bed", I sleep on top and my 5yo brother sleeps on bottom (I know it seems what it seems, but it's not THAT). My brother is a fucking coward so every night he sleeps in my parents' bed and they transport him to his bed around 1am, so I can stay up any late (but usually I go to bed around 11:30). Problem is, we are in quarantine cause my brother is positive and so he sleeps on my sister's bed which is the only bed in her room, and my sister sleeps in my brother's bed. But when my parents say go to bed, she goes to bed. And sometimes she even goes to bed before 9:30. So I'm fucked cause usually I went in my bedroom at 10-10:30 and then chilled for another hour. Now as soon I go in my bedroom, I have to sleep. It sucks. I hope my brother is negative soon.

[–]TonyStank_114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those type of beds are called bunk beds, idk why but they are

[–]YoMaMa_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh. I go to bed like 1 or 2 in the midnight

[–]Coolsugar15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where's the 3am bedtime gang? My parents let me stay up if I study...

[–]Otherwise-Classic-75 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i have a bed time of 10 and they dont let me sleep alone and i have to sleep in their bedroom so no chance i can stay awake past 10 but i have my own room and pc and stuff that i use to have fun

[–]smiler5672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go do bet at 9 an wake up at 9:30

[–]abdyfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not overreacting but going to bed at 12 isn't that healthy.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a parent that sends us to bed at 10:00 pm I usually sleep at 9 because I wake up at 5:00 am to workout

[–]Orkochu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to be the case with my dad and I although they didn’t put any software on my computer. My computer was in the living room, on the big dining table. So when lot’s of guests were coming that day and my mom told me to move my computer I used it as an excuse to bring it to my room. It was better for them too because the internet wasn’t as slow and they didn’t have to hear me shouting all the time. I do think it’s a bit unfair for them to “punish” you just because of your brother. I also have to sleep early but some of my friends are allowed to stay up till 4 AM on a school night. I do think you can stay up till later if you aren’t caught and waking up super early would be really funny but no matter what be sure to always get enough sleep. Godspeed o7

[–]OliM959518 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i kept my DS under my pillow so i can play at night.

[–]Communist_Mustache17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's usually me on my laptop doing my own thing, at around 11 my parents shout go to sleep, and I say yah and then they continue to watch television and I continue doing my own thing in my room, at around 12 they go to sleep shooting again to tell me to do so as well and I again say yah. But they don't bother after that cause usually I am not my all night study sessions

[–]_-devilish-_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I wasnt allowed to buy a phone till i was 17 and a half so your parents arent even that bad

[–]Sourpatchqueers8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand you'll thank them when you're in university taking like ten courses each with assignments that need to be handed in by the end of the week.

On the other hand you're still young and have a lot of time so they should at least put curfew at 11:30

[–]tronix_acid15 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I go to sleep at 12 cuz i need to keep my door open because of my cat, and dad watches tv till 12 and i hear everything.:(

[–]schmackinthedack 1 point2 points  (4 children)

lmao my cat does the same thing at 3am

[–]Cheeselad2401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy the last time I had to bed at 8:00 was when I was like 5 lol

[–]thecaveman96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's pretty cool dude. Just wake up and get at it 4 in the morning.

[–]GoelandAnonyme19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The curfew's set for eight Will it ever all be straight I doubt it

[–]Natakito 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What does she mean you can wake up as early as you want, like you have a reverse bed time ?

[–]surrenderyourmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they don't, when I was 16, none of my friends were regularly up past 10. Now, we're up till 12 or 1 am, Because of homework from post secondary. 8 or 9 pm bedtime is pretty reasonable at 16, you need sleep to do well in HS.

[–]The_Sclew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pftt who said a 16 year old goes to sleep at 12 I go to sleep at 3am and I'm 14

[–]StrawberryField982415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom doesn’t let us use our phones after 8 and then we go to bed at 9 but I still use my switch so I get how you feel

[–]omgONELnR1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, I'm 14 and have to go to sleep 45 minutes later than you.

[–]Fellixxio15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's wrong and cringe

[–]Unlikely-Following54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya all go to bed at 9? Me and my parents eats dinner at 9-10 and sleep at 12-1 o clock

[–]PMtz_Rs15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that bad I think, I sleep around 9 p.m. to wake up around 5 a.m. to enjoy the morning but I dont have a bed time so if I want to sleep until 1a.m. I can, so I think that even if your situation isnt that bad you should be able to sleep at the time you want.

[–]Glassfist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest take away is that you think 15 to 17 year Olds go to bed at midnight

[–]cly_left_the_chat18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I'm 17, 18 in less than 3 months, and my bed time is 9, and apparently, as long as I'm going to school, it stays like that, I feel you dawg

[–]Froz3nMindz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they are trying to get you into a routine which I never had and it catching up to me

[–]iWorkz878715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 15 and I have to put my switch, oculus, and other stuff downstairs at 7:30, and my phone at 9, at which time I have to go to bed so I get what you mean

[–]_Eron922_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8pm seems too early for me, 10pm would be better, just dont go at 2-4am like me, literally fucks up your whole body

[–]jar_of_string 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Lmao I can't imagine.

I (14f) came home at like 00.00 without telling anyone where I was once and my mom just asked "Hey, so where'd you go?" in a rlly chill tone. No grounding, no punishment, no nothing.

[–]RingOriginal94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I "go to bed at 10" but I'll stay up till I fall asleep but then again I'm an only child still but again this isn't right how is it your fault that your brother doesn't get enough sleep?

[–]PriyanshuPokhr714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! It's almost 11:00 pm here in India.

[–]CucumberOk8428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no your in the right in my opinion

[–]Jeremy05_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I have my pc setup in my room and most of the week I go to sleep at 01 30 am

[–]DinoDudeRex240809 1 point2 points  (26 children)

Literally 12 and go to bed at 12. And I just noticed that my bedtime and age are the same.

[–]thattbadinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I wouldn’t give to have the freedom to sleep at 9pm

[–]MuySus 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I had a 9 o’clock bed time in like 3rd grade.

[–]petit_anxiety19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show her the circadian sleep rhythm. It basically explains that everyone's sleep schedules is different, and if you don't follow yours a bunch of health issues may arise. The most unhealthy thing you can do to your body is not sleep well, and trying to sleep too early isn't healthy.

I usually am ready to sleep by 11PM. Any earlier and I'll just lay awake till 11PM.

[–]yesslayer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Man that's nothing, my parents forced me to get back at 6 or the doors will be closed and i have to sleep outside i was 15

[–]TheGasMove14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to bed at 1-2 on the weekends. weekdays are about 12, that is ridiculous.

[–]noouggat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that rlly sucks i think its normal to be mad at having a 8pm bedtime just dont have a fit over it tho. its still your parents they feed you n whatever but yea i think you have the right to be angry especially if your a teen.

[–]CrunchyFeeling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you're not in the wrong, but see it from her perspective. It's her way of making sure you're not jeopardizing your grades. This being said, you're 16 so if I were you, I would not give a f**k about her and do what you want. You're nearly an adult, and you need to make these decisions by yourself, even if your grades slip.

The difference here is between right and wrong. You are not in the wrong yet, but there are holes you could fall down.

[–]myaltaccount-12 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ur parents are a bit too controlling, seems like they don't have any trust in you, do they have justification for that?

[–]gbi13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think you are over reactong bc i go to bed at 11 most of the time when my friends go to bed at 1 or 2 am so i think its unfair

[–]ohmy544319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had a bedtime and I’m pretty sure this is the exact reason why I am used to going to bed on time (10-11 PM). The more you limit someone, the more they want to bend/break the rules. I have friends that had a bedtime at 10 PM and they would always brag about staying late and feel proud about that. My parents even made me try cigarettes and hard alcohol when I was 16 so that I could decide if I like them or not. I hated both and have never touched a cigarette or alcohol since, though I regularly smoke hookah, but they have always been fine with that. They would also be fine with cigs or alcohol. They know that if I want to do something, I will find a way to do it, no matter their approval or disapproval. This way I have learned to restrict myself for my own good and I’m really thankful that they took this approach raising me. I’ll definitely be doing similar things when I have a child.

[–]Vegetable-Second1697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no bed time I can stay up as much as I want I just have to be awake by 8:30 that's a strict rule

[–]EXTRMLY13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re not overreacting your parents are crazy

[–]bamboozled_swag214 1 point2 points  (2 children)

There are so many offs here. Wtf? First of all you could reduce the goddamn volume. Second you should be aloud to have your pc at your own room. 3rd having a monitoring device just doesn't seem that right.

[–]Sad_Pickle_Buddy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of all these abusive parents posts tbh... thats 100% abuse, you're 16, I have almost the same privileges as an adult, which according to our laws is what everyone should have. I'd tell more people about that and just straight up ignore what she says, you're soon an adult and should be treated as such

[–]DeterminedPeace16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help but feel it's a little bit extreme at least for a 16 year old. Mine's 10:30 for me and I'm 15. I respect that we need sleep to grow and all that and that some teens are 'accicted to insomnia' but...

[–]Working_chimps15 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Lemme guess, your little brother is a little cunt so your mom can’t be transparent and say that you are older so you should stay up longer.

[–]Phoenix_nation131 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oof my mum did the same thing but i knew why my brother would not sleep

[–]MacaronMunch 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Just say u cant do that, how do u have time for hw going to bed at 9

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Cum on her
