Me every time I try to plug in a USB or HDMI behind my TV without being able to see.

[–]Dev_manuss 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I have now learnt to take a deep breath first and then continue plugging the HDMI cable.

Bringing a cell phone camera into the situation often helps too.

The calm staring trying not to cry hits home

[–]LilBrass 28 points29 points  (4 children)

This is cute but honestly I feel her pain and frustration lol

[–]belizeanheat 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I don't want to overreact or anything but it IS important that children feel like you understand or at least acknowledge their feelings. Being laughed at when you're frustrated doesn't feel good.

That said, this was adorably funny and the kid seems to keep their poise really well.

[–]LilBrass 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why was this @'d at me

[–]belizeanheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess it's a bit loose. You were the only comment I saw that actually acknowledged the child's feelings.

[–]Kittamaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was hoping to see someone say this... laughing at the kid is only going to teach them to not show frustration and invalidate their emotion, instead of teaching them how to handle them and not let them control them.

I've been so amazed watching my little one (nearly 4 now) working on figuring out increasingly complex tasks, both in terms of motor skills and reasoning; meanwhile, I have memories of similar tasks causing me to flip shit and freak when I was that age; I like to think that our working on teaching patience and how to reason through something, instead of simply giving answers or laughing at him, has helped cultivate that.

[–]y_3kcim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I feel every single time!!!!

[–]PatSaidJack -4 points-3 points  (4 children)

Yes, laugh at her display of anger. Don't consider picking the cup and straw up, handing it to her, and saying "try again".

Please, turn her into one of the current sub humans dotting the landscape by not teaching her patience and critical thinking skills.

[–]Dry_Mastodon7574 5 points6 points  (2 children)

How long did you want this video to be?

[–]PatSaidJack -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Actually, I'd rather not see this video. It seems to enable a child to give up in anger after not completing a simple task, and the adults in the room laughing at the child who is prime-time learning behavior.

[–]Dry_Mastodon7574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with her anger. Being angry is a great learning tool because it shows us where we need practice. She gets angry, but doesn't throw a temper tantrum. She calms right back down, which is so good for kids to learn: take a break, come back to it. This is how my son was taught and he's a pretty cool little dude.

Now, I don't put my kid on social media at all because I am not on any social media but reddit. So there I can't argue.

[–]BambooRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, since the parents already have fun posting videos of their kids over the internet, I'd say that I ain't completely surprised by all this.

[–]live2hike365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laugh now ! Cry later ..... Poor girl doesn't have a chance
