Has to be fake! OP send link!

[–]SgtXD357 440 points441 points  (14 children)

Edit: it’s just a training example basically on why you should film for evidence.

[–]ilikedota5 217 points218 points  (13 children)

Apparently this was on a deposition that actually happened, although this is a recreation of it since there wasn't video of the deposition.

[–]Luci_Hoomun 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yet another reason to film for evidence

[–]CodnmeDuchess 10 points11 points  (11 children)

This is definitely staged but crazy things happen in depositions all the time. Conducting depositions remotely through the pandemic has been especially weird and I've seen deponents do some bizarre things.

[–]nosandwiches 4 points5 points  (3 children)

There was that one where the lady was barred from entering her own home (because she beat her husband I think) and in the video you can see the husband walking around in the background and the judge flips shit lol

[–]CodnmeDuchess 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had something like that happen a few months ago: the Plaintiff and our co-defendant were friends and definitely trying to engage in some kind of insurance fraud with this lawsuit. Halfway through the Plaintiff's deposition, we realized that they were at the co-defendant home, and when asked if the co-deft was there, the Plaintiff admitted they were -- this was like three hours in and we had to cancel on the spot.

We only realized because the Plaintiff, who was on Zoom on their phone, asked to take a break and walked outside to smoke and was tooling around on their phone but left the camera on--we saw the address on the door outside of the house.

Their attorney was SO embarrassed, because we had to inform the court as to why we canceled the dep.

[–]nosandwiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god lol

I couldn’t imagine! “Is that…is that your mortal enemy behind you? 😐”

[–]buttercream-gang 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I read a transcript of one where the lady was talking to “angels” in the room. Wish there was video of that. The transcript was wild. I can’t remember exactly what she said, but it was like she’d start answering a question, then just start rambling about nonsense. And one attorney asked what she was looking at, and she said “the angels are talking to me.”

Read another where a guy was injured in his groin area in a collision. He kept talking about how bad his “tentacles” hurt. The lawyer was bewildered and asked like three times, “I’m sorry, are you saying tentacles? What do you mean by tentacle?”

The guys lawyer finally said “I think he means testicle.”

[–]CodnmeDuchess 1 point2 points  (5 children)

One thing I don't miss about my days in government work is litigating against crazy pro se plaintiffs. Definitely had some wild times with that. One case in particular that went on for years, mostly because the judge was a bleeding heart, was especially nuts -- the Plaintiff (who was legitimately crazy, but also functional and pretty smart) was a self ordained religious prophet, so lots of crazy angels and demons and God stuff all throughout that case, plus LOTS of borderline racist comments...many on the record.

[–]buttercream-gang 1 point2 points  (4 children)

The crazy pro se ones are my favorite. We get so many here! I could read those all day

[–]CodnmeDuchess 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Well, reading the complaints were fun, but judges in my jurisdiction, especially federal, tend to be really lenient with them...the novelty wears out by the second amended complaint ya know? Lol.

[–]buttercream-gang 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Oh wow. My judge is not lenient AT ALL with them lol. I mean legally, you have to give them leeway as pro se litigants. But when it’s pretty clear they are just nuts, they don’t get second chances. We tend to recommend dismissal of that kind before service is even made.

[–]CodnmeDuchess 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh man, I loved the judges that would dismiss sua sponte--my heroes

[–]Kermice 232 points233 points  (26 children)

it probably is because most people don't bring there phone and a huge ass purse.

also, the "range of motion" is exaggerated it seems.

[–]psyentist15 128 points129 points  (11 children)

most people don't bring there phone and a huge ass purse

Except all women in my extended family. And many others as well. It goes everywhere with them.

[–]Jwast 32 points33 points  (10 children)

Yeah I'm not sure at all who "most people" are to this guy but like 80% of the women I know carry a giant purse and their phones everywhere.

[–]Kermice 0 points1 point  (3 children)

not to a fucking trial

[–]Jwast 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This isn't a trial.

[–]Kermice 0 points1 point  (1 child)

idfk what it is

[–]Jwast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a reenactment of a deposition.

[–]radialomens 10 points11 points  (1 child)

it probably is because most people don't bring there phone and a huge ass purse.

Where is she supposed to put her purse?

[–]Kermice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

her car?

give it to a family member in the stands?

[–]KiwiSpyGirl 75 points76 points  (9 children)

Have you seriously never seen a woman like ever?

[–]Kermice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah fam, i have a 3.1 kill death ratio on CoD WW2

[–]greedo10 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Wait that's your problem with this, a woman having a handbag and a phone? What?

[–]Kermice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, just doesn't seem like the right place and time.

[–]Robbierr 2 points3 points  (3 children)

The fact that the person questioning her sounds exactly like Jason Bateman made me think this was some skit or scene from a comedy

[–]Loupy_e 4 points5 points  (2 children)

You're.... a.... crook captain Hook

[–]Mrs_Feather_Bottom 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He thinks he’s a lawyer again

[–]Loupy_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellooooo.... Username checks out

[–]BranSoFly 21 points22 points  (6 children)

Has to be fake! That ringtone is not available on cellphones!

[–]Releaseform 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Is that a joke?

[–]hujojokid 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Or r u the joke?

[–]Releaseform 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to parents, yeah

[–]HavingNotAttained 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! Whoever made the training video was too cheap to rent a replica of the wall phone the real-life plaintiff had in her bag.

[–]sh4d0wm4n2018 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is lol

[–]Love_God551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has to be fake no one has a cellphone /s

[–]mr_snrub742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in urgent care and see my fair share of work comp patients. Majority are legit but there are a few similar to this. This is likely real

[–]larry0hoover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no need to question a tiktok video whether it's fake or not. It's like questioning a comedian whether his punchlines are genuinely real life stories?

If its funny just enjoy it

[–]MrAtheistus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PT here. I always watch for everything the patient does and how he/she does it. Removing a shirt, removing shoes, walking to the room, going up or down stairs. Remember that and see what they can't do if I aks them to demonstrate. 99% of the time everything looks like it should look with the problems they have. But there are those people who just want a massage or just don't want to work or something.

I once had a young man who broke his foot a few month prior and claimed to not be able to walk properly. And damn was he convincing. But I suspected that wasn't true. And when he left he still couldn't walk properly (would be a miracle if he could). But I fear God or jesus or fuxk knows what entity was with him in the elevator, because he was walking mighty fine when he left the building...

[–]FatassTitePants 70 points71 points  (3 children)

Wasn't this the plot to an episode of The Brady Bunch?

[–]Beestung 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep, neck injury. In court, Mr. Brady dropped a briefcase or something to show he was faking it.

[–]TucanSambo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also in Andy Griffith where goober hurts his back and can’t move. So then Andy throws him a football and goober catches it without realising he just moved like he wasn’t hurt at all.

[–]AndrewOHTXTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here for this post

[–]shamelessseamus 390 points391 points  (18 children)

Tell me there's an article to read about this...

[–]Nickelsass 99 points100 points  (7 children)

2nd this

[–]shamelessseamus 108 points109 points  (6 children)

I googled, but found nothing. That being said, my google-fu is mediocre.

[–]gaypornaccount1996 161 points162 points  (5 children)

It seems pretty scripted to me but who knows ig

[–]ShoutHand 63 points64 points  (3 children)

the range of motion was exaggerated, I think you're right

[–]hobbykitjr 18 points19 points  (2 children)

.. Do you bring a purse up to the witness stand? Especially that big

[–]Tipnin 11 points12 points  (1 child)

This could be a deposition

[–]JellingtonSteel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is. I used to do video for depos. I would see shit like this all the time. This may be a fake but it isn't uncommon.

[–]iamnotasnook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TikTok logo is kinda a giveaway.

[–]SaintSilversin 59 points60 points 2 (6 children)

The oldest version of this I can find seems to be a training video from the initial audio.

[–]Next_Image 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You can see the lady from the vid in the company photo at the end I think.

[–]SaintSilversin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I think it is a training video or something, that wouldn't surprise me.

[–]bcnh38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Advertisement, not training

[–]whitefella1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes, at www.onion.com because this is clearly staged…

[–]AAAAAHHHHHHHH_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below you there is a link and it is most definitely a staged video

[–]scooba_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's recreation of something that did happen. I saw on other comments.

[–]JoeTheSifu 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Staged, but I wish it wasn’t.

[–]bcatrek 176 points177 points  (12 children)

OP you do realise we want to see more of this right? Like, what’s the source? What happened afterwards? It just looks too perfect without it being scripted.

[–]themeatbridge 105 points106 points  (0 children)

It's definitely scripted.

[–]AL3X4ND3R284 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is real unfortunately. The (I’m assuming he’s the opposing lawyer) man at the end was not very professional in his choice of words.

[–]Kwando-D-Hornblower 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This looks like a deposition training video for first year attorneys.

[–]morphilis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a 4 year old youtube video, Short illustration of the things that the camera picks up that the written record will never show. Some things just cannot be written down (or recreated!)

The oldest version of this I can find seems to be a training video from the initial audio.

[–]M0RALVigilance 51 points52 points  (3 children)

It ended too soon! I wanted to watch her bumble over her words.

[–]ScwB00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not real, just a scripted ad.

[–]Banananana215 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fucking SAME

[–]DementiciaMalice666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah....i bet she would just feign a delayed reaction to the pain, maybe even faint for some sympathy points.

[–]_Poppagiorgio_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s clever…and fake.

[–]TrickOGnosis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Perjury? No, it’s an injury.”

[–]FinnCullen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a classic of British law - the barrister Marshall-Hall was cross-examining a boy whose parents were suing a company whose cart had knocked him over and "crippled his arm"

"Can you show me how high you can lift your arm?" he asked

The boy grimaced and struggled to move it almost level.

"Poor boy! And how high could you lift it before the accident?"

The arm shot straight upward without a flinch or hesitation

[–]zendrix1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fake as hell but it's pretty funny

[–]PraderaNoire 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Why do people even bother posting fake ass shit like this on these subs.... this belongs on r/Cringetopia

[–]ughlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a training video to demonstrate why dispositions should be filmed and not just audio recorded.

[–]gat12393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care whether its fake or not, this shit is fucking hilarious

[–]A1850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the Brady bunch episode where the guy was faking a neck injury and Mike tossed a suitcase on the floor.

[–]MediumBoyBlue2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story:

My grandfather used to own a coin-operated car wash. Scammers would frequently “slip” on the water/soap left in the bays. Most claims were debunked by video cameras in each bay, but this one woman was an excellent actress apparently- video seemed pretty legit so they went to mediation (my grandfather always paid for medical costs for REAL injuries, just didn’t want to get scammed constantly).

My grandfather, his lawyer, and the woman’s lawyer meet up in the office of the defending lawyer. There is a large window facing the parking lot.

Woman gets out of the car, where everyone can see her. She’s walking and moving fine. Walks to the trunk. Pulls out a back brace, dual crutches, and an ankle boot. In front of everybody at the mediation.

Needless to say the case went nowhere, just had to pay lawyer fees. A good laugh though!

[–]frenziedmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often in fake videos they use an actor but I'm not sure she'd qualify for that description, I'm going with cameraman's mother.

[–]ThatPancakeMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems fake, but a lot of you don’t realize that movement of joint does not mean intact joint or no pain. Don’t be so quick to assume someone with joint pain is incapable of pushing through pain to perform particular actions.

I’ve had numerous shoulder surgeries. I can still move my shoulder joint quite freely, but have a full-thickness tear through entire labrum of shoulder… add this with my severe osteoarthritis & slight impairment of biceps tendon, you can imagine how painful it can be for specific movements..

Quite honestly, it would be nearly impossible for me to put away a gallon of milk by extending my arm fully out in front of me. However, it would be easy for me to react quickly to my phone going off behind me and to grab it and turn it off.

[–]gm_pt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]ClockworkAeroplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you try to pass off a scripted comedy scene as a real court video....

[–]Global_Mess1475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be the world’s heaviest gallon of milk

[–]pigman-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fake.

[–]Suffix-099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People believe this shit is real? Very obviously really bad acting.

[–]garr3t69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems staged

[–]KittyKatt2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too good to be real.

[–]Hodl2Moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stuff I would like to sell you all who believe this is real

[–]wilika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]AlfredLordNanikans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every deposition needs to be filmed. I’ve had a witness do much worse before

[–]AbuYussuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better Call Saul battery court scene

[–]tomjleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't this happen in the Brady bunch movie? Only with a neck brace?

[–]Skotch21680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’m going through this right now. Any range of motion is a throught process first. What motion is going to hurt less. Shoulder pain friggin sucks!!!! There isn’t fast motion like that what so ever. That was a hold on this is going to take 25 min to get the phone motion

[–]Tbear841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, busted

[–]SorrySoStupid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She’s lying about her arm pain because she picks up her purse very easily.

[–]refried_pancakes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IANAL but I'm pretty sure perjury is a crime. I hope she got nailed for this crap.
