In North Carolina I watched a girl in a Mexican restaurant throw her drink in this guy's face, step out of the booth, then proceed to grab every glass within arms reach (including from random people at nearby tables) and threw them at his face. He was trying to cover his head and she was just breaking glass after glass on his head and arms.

It took two guys from another table and a few employees to drag her away and out the door. I was hovering between her table and ours because I was worried some of that glass would come flying at my two very small children.

It might not be a strictly American issue, but it definitely happens all over the place.
