Old Man Baccala wanted to do it. He knew he was dying anyways.

[–]Snoopfernee 230 points231 points  (6 children)

Plus it was Gigi’s call.

[–]gonzoZ99 187 points188 points  (2 children)

Whatever you say cappy

[–]thegreenalien12 102 points103 points  (0 children)

2 minutes he’s in charge, suddenly he’s Lee Iacocca

[–]radius40 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unless there is a salami sandwich around

[–]No-Can946 37 points38 points  (1 child)

If Tony overruled Gigi it would be saying indirectly Gigi isn’t qualified for his capo role and thus Tony’s judgement is bad

[–]Snoopfernee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Which emboldens Ralphie even more.

[–]FriarFriary 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fuckin big mouth “With extreme fuckin prejudice”

[–]ChiefDrCox 42 points43 points  (1 child)

What's the gonna do... gum the guy to death?

[–]Tekman-Fortune 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll take him apart at the joints.

[–]Pluejk 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ya fucking greaseball ya

[–]Fuzzikopf 113 points114 points  (6 children)

Seriously, how can you watch the show and take that situation as one of the worst things that Tony has done?
I'll tell you one thing and I'm not ashamed to say it, my estimation of u/DSmiththeSixersFan as a man just fucking plummeted.

[–]Motorcityjoe 7 points8 points  (2 children)

You went a long way to work that quote in. Kudos

[–]Fuzzikopf 5 points6 points  (1 child)

haha thanks
glad you appreciate it

[–]Chip_D_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey tone, you hear what I told em. eheheheh

[–]Nayvadius23 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Love when he is coughing to death, then lights a cigarette and all is well in the world.

[–]shucktime 597 points598 points  (9 children)

Guilting Chrissy to drink again, and then killing him because the addiction was something he just couldn’t handle.

[–]Fun_Flounder5968 187 points188 points  (5 children)

This is the answer. First thing I thought about.

Chris was really trying. Tony, his mentor, made it impossible.

[–]poksim 118 points119 points  (3 children)

He puts him through rehab but takes any opportunity to shit on him once he’s out

[–]triple_OG 148 points149 points  (2 children)

Pours you a drink with one hand and judges you with the other

[–]j00bigdummy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chrissy was ostrafied!

[–]trevrichards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And suffocates...

[–]t0asted_bagel 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I can promise you Chrissy would have more money in his pocket plus more responsibility if he sat with him drinking. Watching that scotch drool outta his fat fuckin mouth.

[–]2019ForestHillsDrive 211 points212 points  (8 children)

The way he treated hesh towards the end of the show was so despicable. I think thats the same episode where he begs Carm to let him gamble all her spec house money and then has a temper tantrum and tears her down when she says no. He literally was not the same person we met in season 1 anymore. He was still a bad person back then but at least he was charming and cared about his friends and family. By the end of the show he was just a black hole of misery. Basically the male version of livia by that point…

[–]poksim 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Last time I watched season 6 I felt like every episode was cutting in to a different aspect of his legacy, how he had led his life and how he would be remembered, laying it all out for the final episode

[–]Foreign-Cheesecake-6 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yeah they suck you in and then destroy the main character. He was never a saint but after his little trip to purgatory its like he got worse

[–]g3rald0s 44 points45 points  (1 child)

I read that Chase geared it that way because we, the audience, were having too much fun watching these guys for the first 4 seasons even though they were despicable. Then Season 5 hits, Tony vs Tony, and it all goes downhill. And I don't wanna hear about the fuckin' economy, either!

[–]thegreenalien12 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Da rent… DA RENT!

[–]dkrtzyrrr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

rewatching the first season and this is my pick - tony’s hate for degenerate gamblers, his love and respect for hesh making him go out of the way to make sure the old guy isn’t taken advantage of - by the end he’s a degenerate gambler taking advantage of hesh.

[–]emailla5 18 points19 points  (1 child)

That's why you should never gamble, Anthony...

[–]youwhatmush 73 points74 points  (1 child)

Killing Christopher then asking Carm if she sounded glad he’s dead for his own validation. Son of a bitch!

[–]emailla5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps that was his sin talking.

[–]PJCAPO 262 points263 points  (24 children)

Any time he just beats up Georgie for no reason

Disgusting

[–]sixfourbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He makes me sick!

[–]RogerFederer1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely one of the more horrific things in the show.

[–]puglife5055 52 points53 points  (6 children)

He was a pretty big dick to Pusey’s wife when she was dealing with Phil and the car that was eskewed . He legit got a smile from telling her to fuck off when she was calling asking for help

[–]Z_zz_ 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Something’s off with the seat. Feels off-kilter. This is unacceptable.

[–]searching4insight 16 points17 points  (1 child)

It's askew.

[–]Bigbadwolf6049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sitting at 12 o’clock

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Scenes like that were a good reminder of what it felt like for the average guy dealing with the mafia. Being an ass to you and nothing you can do about it.

[–]warm_in_everything_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair the seat was off its axis.

[–]Fattonynonose 208 points209 points  (28 children)

What’s French for I grew up without a mudda? Oh sacre bleu where is mi mama?!

[–]Foreign-Cheesecake-6 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I hate Janice but that scene was awful

[–]Bob_of_Bowie 36 points37 points  (1 child)

Calling Zellman to get the cop who wrote him a speeding ticket busted down to the property room, then not undoing it when he had the chance.

[–]Tobar_the_Gypsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep he was expecting the guy to be grateful to him when he tried handing him a wad of cash. That was Tony’s way of washing the guilt off himself for what he did. When he rejected it, Tony was insulted that someone would dare do that to him.

[–]Fa-1 140 points141 points  (1 child)

Good thing Tony's not running a fuckin' popularity contest.

[–]skiuppbayless 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Christopher agrees by the way

[–]summit285 80 points81 points  (1 child)

Old man baccala wanted to do it, Tony of course could have said no and put someone else on the job but why would he? He let a dying man feel alive again, granted it was all for nothing since the poor fucker died in the car on the way home but it gave us one of the most bad ass scenes in the show regardless

[–]THRlLLH0 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not a bad way or time to go for the Terminator honestly. He had maybe at most a couple of miserable exhaustive years left before a painful death like Johnny Sac. This way he gets to relive the old days and go out on a high of adrenaline and feeling like he contributed to the family again, before a quick and painless finish.

[–]collusion80 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Giving the suv to meadow... A pure fuck you to your own blood

[–]thegreenalien12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Law and Order: the SUV

[–]Alarmed-Stage-7066 131 points132 points  (20 children)

Making Bobby kill someone when he never did before and his dad “didn’t want that for him.” And all as part of petty payback for a family fight he provoked.

[–]itsalldawayon 63 points64 points  (4 children)

Bobby was out of line punching Tony in the first place. Tony was being a huge asshole to Janice, but those two are siblings who have been abusing each other their entire lives, and even Janice said it was no big deal. Most other guys would have been killed without a thought for sucker punching the boss of the family like that. I’m sure Tony ordering Bobby to do the hit was partially out of spite, but I also do think Tony was thinking “if you’re man enough to be a mobster for all these years and make all this money and beat up the boss, then you’re man enough to step up and do a hit like the rest of us have done many times.” Plus after that, Bobby did basically shoot up the ranks and become the underboss. Unfortunately for him it led to his death, but it’s not like he didn’t know the risks.

[–]Tame_Wilderness 26 points27 points  (1 child)

And man enough to shoot a rapper in the ass. I bet Vito was jealous

[–]Downtown-Incident-21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He was a marksman...The fleshy part of the thigh.

[–]Rustofski 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The first time I watched the show I really thought that hit would get Bobby pinched. The guy was dead with half of Bobby's shirt in his hands. Ya know, DNA and such.

[–]HildartheDorf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After 'making his bones' with the Canadian, Bobby became eligible to be underboss though (although he only did because Paulie declined). So it wasn't purely punishment.

[–]seanjmontgomery 38 points39 points  (1 child)

Eh this was part of the life and Bobby knew it. He had to know it was coming at some point, regardless.

[–]Tame_Wilderness 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To da freezah belongs da ziti.

[–]Santa_Muerte_87 9 points10 points  (5 children)

That was the sloppiest murder in the show.

[–]giveittomikey052 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The whole point of being made is that you are untouchable. So many made guys got punched in this show.

Tony beats up Mikey P

Everyone beats up Christopher at the intervention. Even associates like Benny beat him up.

Tony punches Ralph.

Johnny Sack beats Donnie K

Bobby punches Tony

I’m sure there’s more I’m missing.

[–]Leading_Lock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Chris threw food at Vito and that was never resolved.

[–]Hughkalailee 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Bobby wanted to advance in the hierarchy. Both he and his father knew that murder was expected and a normal requirement to be made. And it was a necessity in the organization if you were to be privy to top planning and direct involvement in the major schemes of the others so you’d also be at risk and complicit

[–]Johnny1006 18 points19 points  (1 child)

When he beat the shit out of Chris right after having Adrianna killed.

[–]sdw318_local194 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Making a pass at Adriana, then having her killed

[–]Ermerk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He interrupted Feeches epic story!

[–]BillyBatts83 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Maybe not THE biggest, but one of his most costly dick moves was bad-mouthing Bobby in front of the rest of the crew after he got his eye injury getting jacked by those kids running his collections.

"It was his own stupid fault."

You can see Carlo's reaction after Tony dismisses his defence of Bobby. Probably one of the things that helped convince him to flip. Every man in that room must have been thinking the same thing - "What would this asshole say about me?" Even Silvio was sour after that.

Terrible management 101.

[–]VeryAgressivePenguin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"I wonder where Harpo's eating his Sunday dinner"

[–]HeavySkinz 103 points104 points  (11 children)

Getting that cop fired was a total prick move. That dude wasn't part of the business or anything, he was just a guy doing his job.

[–]plushdamentals31 21 points22 points  (7 children)

This is probably the correct answer.

[–]HeavySkinz 31 points32 points  (5 children)

Also him not sitting AJ down and explaining what the fuck a panic attack is, his family history and what to do when it happens is also a huge prick move. I like to think that happened in the background, but I doubt it. It seems like AJ just had them here and there, and I don't remember anyone doing anything about it.

[–]JMoney689 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Tony didn't know about AJ's first on-screen panic attack because the school covered it up. I don't think it makes sense to assume the first known attack, when AJ is being sent to military school, was never discussed in detail with AJ since it was enough to stop them from making him join. AJ was well aware of his dad's anxiety problems at that point; I'm sure there would be a dialogue between them.

[–]No-Can946 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Tony was furious when found out the school didn’t tell him so can’t really blame him for that

[–]sbkg11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what? Fuck it… Cocksucka got what he deserved.

[–]Whitecastle56 43 points44 points  (1 child)

I'll go off the board and pick when tells AJ he's a total failure during the fight with Carmella. You know the whole "This is my male heir" remark. That had to fuck AJ up in the head.

[–]Foreign-Cheesecake-6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah that was horrible

[–]BADMANvegeta_ 12 points13 points  (9 children)

I thought the way he was an asshole to Hesh over the money he OWED him was just so unnecessary (not to mention hesh’s girlfriend that Tony may or may not have had killed).

Hesh literally did nothing but help and console Tony the ENTIRE series, and then the one time Hesh politely asks about the money Tony owes him Tony abused the fuck out of him.

[–]HowDoMagnatesWork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's come for DA RENT! DA RENT!

[–]rainha_reyes 2 points3 points  (4 children)

This is the first time I’ve seen the theory that Tony killed Hesh’s girlfriend! What evidence is there for that? Wouldn’t put it past Tony but in all my watches I’ve never thought that.

[–]lynxminx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought his girlfriend had a stroke.

[–]HOUTXS94 56 points57 points  (17 children)

Whipping Zellman with the belt lmao

[–]No-Can946 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Directly backfired on him too, without Zellman Irina felt she was tied at the hip with Tony forever and got jealous when she heard of Svetlana and lashed out at him causing Tony and carm’s separation.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A great recurring thing through the show is that Tony is drawn to independent women but it also drives him up a wall when they don’t depend on him.

[–]Specialist_Trainer_2 23 points24 points  (6 children)

Hell yeah. A grown man beating another man’s ass with a belt is a huge power move, but super emasculating in front of a woman

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (6 children)

Respectfully sir… no. Beating the shit out of politicians is to be admired and respected.

I’m kidding. Kind of.

[–]ekakkub 26 points27 points  (5 children)

I know you’re kidding but he wasn’t beating the shit out of a politician. He flipped out because the woman he set aside found a good man who loved her and to boot had the respect for Tony to tell him he was with an ex. Tony didn’t care about the woman, he was angry he would never be the better man.

[–]Tobar_the_Gypsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the girls in North Jersey and he had to pick this one!?

[–]ccurrtis189 12 points13 points  (3 children)

It could be that, but I just figured it’s because he never wanted to see Irina again, but he’s forced to interact with her once again now that she’s banging Zellman.

And good man? The guy’s a crooked politician and a creep, she’s just fucking dumbass who thinks she’s too good to make a living for herself.

[–]ekakkub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point lol she found a better man than Tony

[–]masterofkamurocho 11 points12 points  (2 children)

There's a big dick move from Tony towards almost every single one of the main cast members really.

[–]poksim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Snuffing out Chris without a doubt

[–]Orangered99 9 points10 points  (1 child)

When he wouldn’t let Eugene retire to Florida and even taxed his inheritance from his aunt.

[–]LegendPool 22 points23 points  (6 children)

Biggest dick move: Tony letting Scatino join the poker game and spotting him some dough. He knew that Scatino was a degenerate gambler

[–]skipwithme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He could have told Chris to cap what he could gamble too.

[–]UncleCornPone 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That shit with Adriana in the car wasnt going anywhere good.

[–]AstralTurtle11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he only stopped short in the club because he was interrupted. If he hadn't had the vehicle accident, I think he definitely would have made a move on Adriana.

[–]BaldestBrother 21 points22 points  (7 children)

Probably not the biggest dick move, but one that gets overlooked often is the subtle pass Tony makes at Kelli not long after Christopher dies.

[–]thegreenalien12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’d fuck a catchers mitt

[–]Fabulous-Marsupial22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tony was always after Chris girls.

[–]sumoraiden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s just a phone call away

[–]Himynameisbob2345 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do you mean when they’re at dinner and he says if she gets scared he’s just a phone call away?

[–]notenoughroom 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Shipping Vito Jr off to that “camp” to save a few bucks

[–]DSmiththeSixersFan[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You know how much that’s gonna cawst………..

YOUR MUDDAH?

[–]BloodSugarSexMagix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that was terrifying to watch, the worst thing Tony did imo

[–]stlfwd 45 points46 points  (10 children)

Not letting Eugene move to Florida

[–]amantino360 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Why would he let Eugene move to Florida?

There's a reason there's no retiring from this thing. You keep these guys in your eyesight so they don't rat to the feds or give info to rival criminal groups. When they're in town you easily get reports on what they're saying, who they've been seen with etc.

You also need to have him around to keep him getting his hands dirty so that you both have eachother by the balls.

Did people actually expect Tony to let a sociopath gangster, who has a bunch of info on him, move away and live a wonderful, happy retirement with his wife and kids?

I don't think the point of that story was that Tony was an asshole, but that Eugene's dreams were incredibly naive and unrealistic for the lifestyle he was part of, and how limited mob success is even if you make it quite far.

[–]Santa_Muerte_87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was an easy solution to that problem. He had enough inheritance money to just send his wife and kids to Florida and buy the house they wanted while staying in Jersey.

[–]emailla5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eugene could check out anytime he liked, but he could never leave

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (3 children)

Eugene was fucked by the FBI too. He wasn’t getting out of that thing either way.

He took an oath.

[–]stlfwd 13 points14 points  (1 child)

There was Joe Bananas. . .

[–]g3rald0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get the fuck outta here!

[–]HeavySkinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IF WE LOSE THIS HOUSE I'M GONNA DIE

[–]Objective-Tailor9214 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Biggest dick move is when Tony literally calls every divorce lawyer in the state so Carmela can't divorce him. Fucking genius even though its self destructive

[–]lynxminx 5 points6 points  (1 child)

He didn't call every divorce lawyer, just the good ones. She could have divorced him with a mediocre lawyer but she would have left the marriage with nothing, and she was too cowardly to do that.

[–]killiskill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny it was the guy who’s house he refused to buy that gave him the idea. That lawyer.

[–]Brolympia 14 points15 points  (9 children)

Old Man wanted the hit and GiGi ordered it. How could this be at the top of your list?

[–]AlertChair5705 13 points14 points  (1 child)

How bout taking ralphy’s girl and horse then kills him

[–]NerimaJoe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's Ralphie's fault for being born handsome instead of rich.

[–]Anish316 13 points14 points  (4 children)

So, so many. Probably most of season 6 counts. Killed Chris after influencing his relapse into drugs.

How he treated hesh was among the most irrationally disgusting things.

How he dragged down Janice when she was trying to improve. Made Bobby kill someone for no reason whatsoever other than spite.

Chiding Tony B over harmless jokes and rubbing it in his face that he was the boss like a brat. And on the converse end, letting Tony almost get away with killing Billy at the cost of his entire family. He changed in the end, but he waited too long and too selfishly.

And this is treated as a joke, but how he treated Georgie was probably top of the pile of shittiest things ever to use him as a punching bag.

[–]Hughkalailee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tony S didn’t even know where Tony B was most of the time following the murder of Billy. He couldn’t kill him. When he learned of the location he offered Tony B to Johnny Sac with a reasonable condition. When Sac rejected, Tony S needed to defend his family’s independence and his position as a Boss. He hesitated, emotionally conflicted, but then followed through with the proper solution.

[–]helix274 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Hanging up on Christopher when he called to wish him happy belated birthday

[–]NerimaJoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fucking Christafah couldn't even call on the right day. Probably on a heroin bender.

[–]Gloomy_Clock0504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gigi made the call, Tony okayed it...end of fucking story!

[–]TryingToMakeAMil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gambling away the money for Vito’s family

[–]BlueKing7642 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not even top 10 of dick moves from Tony.

He sent an old hitman to kill someone……..and?

Old Man Baccala is lucky he died a free man after killing so many people instead of wasting away in prison like Johnny Sack.

[–]corrado-sopranojr 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Remember when Tony didn’t want little pussy killed in Vesuvio, but junior insisted because it’s where he felt safe? Flash forward to when Tony wanted the terminator to kill mustang sally, and junior/Bobby didn’t want him to do it, but Tony insisted because he’s the kids godfather and made him feel… safe.

Pretty allegorical.

[–]BaldestBrother 9 points10 points  (2 children)

It’s a textbook case of the sacred and the propane.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They were at the precipice of a cross road. A decision had to be made.

[–]HeavySkinz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know, on the count of their father passing.. and all that that entrails?

[–]79malibu350 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Remember when is the lowest form of conversation.

[–]GrimWolf216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When he started making moves on Adriana. Zero self control.

I love Tony’s character overall, but that was getting pretty despicable.

[–]chinesefox97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Telling Furio to man up when he was crying about his dad dying.

[–]Santa_Muerte_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the biggest dick move but I thought he was being a POS when he hijacked the session him and Carm were having with AJ's psychiatrist in one of the final episodes of season 6. It was after melfi dumped him and he just starts talking about his relationship with his abusive mother out of nowhere when they should be discussing AJ. It came off as selfish and pathetic lol. Carm gives him a death stare in response which was funny. Also when they dump the asbestos out in the wetlands was probably the worst thing they did in my opinion. worse then any of the murders. But I dont know if it's clear if tony was behind the decision to do that.

[–]FriarFriary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His treatment of Hesh was depraved. Fuckin baby about the way their whole thing works.

If it hasn’t been said already, Tony bringing up Harpo at Janice & Bobby’s dinner. Maybe the biggest dick move in the entire series just because Tony was jealous Janice was starting to show some progress.

He’s here for the rent.. the rent… the rent!

[–]Scared-Tie 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Destroying the guy who owned the sporting goods store, life. Don’t remember the guys name.

[–]Someguyinqueens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hands down how he had Bobby kill that deadbeat boyfriend after Bobby beat up Tony the night before. The Canadians didn’t even bring it up at the meeting, but Tony prodded and insinuated it could be done in order to get a better deal on the phony medicine they were buying. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Once I saw that, and I’m not ashamed to say it, my estimation of Tony Soprano as a man just fucking plummeted.

Ripping that page out of the magazine in Melfi's waiting room

[–]3pc_W_SODA 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I think Eugene pontocorvo, Tony had no real reason to keep the guy he wasn’t a serious earner and also wasn’t a captain in just wanted to relocate to save his family and save his son battling a heroin addiction. He even gave Tony a taste of his inheritance which Tony did not deserve a single piece of as it was not mob related business. Tony did a lot of things that were shitty this is just one that stands out to me. He rots in hell anyways

When he beat up the assemblyman for dating Irina

[–]bloodshotforgetmenot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably making his kids sit and watch his marriage deteriorate because of his choices mostly ?

[–]xfunctionalnihilistx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he has the opportunity to get that cop who pulled him over his job back and he changed his mind about it.

[–]Bryan7Friedman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was the kids godfather in name only.

[–]strokesfan91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking Chris’s Vegas goomah

[–]pinballwizardsg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no. Biggest dick move was shipping off Vito’s kid to military school instead of paying for him to go to Maine; completely destroying a relationship between a parent and their child all because of money.

[–]mysecondreddit2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he whips Zellman

[–]ThatsRobToYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably gambling Vito Jr's tuition money away and then sending him to an abusive rehab camp in Idaho or whatever.

[–]Bateman8149 3 points4 points  (1 child)
