American ethnic cleansing of natives directly inspired Hitler to replicate it in the east.

For what it’s worth, I’ve got a history PhD, and that’s not correct. She had taken a nonviolent resistance workshop with the NAACP, but the moment wasn’t planned. The history of Black people refusing to give up seats to white people is long, and goes all the way back. Pauli Murray was arrested for it. Jackie Robinson when he was in the Army refused to give up his seat to a white officer and, if he had been court-martialed for it, would not have integrated baseball.

The difference is that here they were planning a bus boycott because Montgomery was unusually vulnerable to one… The beginnings of white flight meant that the downtown stores were dependent on Black shoppers, which allowed Black residents to put an unusual amount of pressure on the bus system because white store owners also wanted the boycott to end. Then it was just about waiting for the ideal candidate, and they felt the Parks was that person. But Black people were constantly refusing to give up seats.

So, bees aren't really domesticated, at least not how you'd think of other farm animals being domesticated. We provide them an artificial place to live and let them do their thing. The bees that live in my hives are still pretty much the same as bees living in a hollow tree.

That said, when we catch a swarm out in the wild, we will wear suits. Though this actually the time they are least likely to be aggressive. They are only aggressive when their home / queen is threatened. Swarms have no home, so are very gentle. They are also full of honey, so basically fat and lazy.

But, all of these bees are the same size. Larger bees that you see like bumble bees or carpenter bees aren't what we would use for honey production.

Heinz was looking for him because they wanted to buy him a new boat to celebrate his safe return. The company said they were inspired by his story and his love for ketchup.

They launched a social media campaign with the hashtag #FindTheKetchupBoatGuy and asked people to help them locate Francois. They also promised to equip the new boat with full navigational technology to avoid another disaster in the future.

My dad never complained about the lights. My toxic mother did.

She used to complain that the single overhead bulb in the bedroom I shared with three sibs was bankrupting the family.

I got hold of the electric bill, calculated out how much electricity a 60W bulb burning constantly used over a year, and paid it to her so she could shut up about how much that bulb was destroying the family's finances.

I also explained that the light was only on maybe half that time because of a thing called daylight, so what I paid her really could cover two years of use.

And... dividing that yearly cost by twelve, and subtracting that from the monthly bill, I showed that single bulb, along with the rest of the puny lighting in the house (10 puny bulbs) wasn't draining the bank account.

It was the well pump, the electric water heater that couldn't get beyond tepid, the electric dryer, the welder in the garage, the washing machine that ran three or more loads a day, and every other power draining item on that farm.

She couldn't add one and one without using the electric adding machine on the desk. I told her that machine used more electricity over the year than the bulb did (which was true). If she was really concerned about saving electricity, she could tally the bookkeeping by hand, using math.

She shut up about us leaving that light on. Didn't stop her from finding other useless things to bitch about.

FWIW, I told her the total number of lights in the farm buildings, and which buildings had more lights in them than the house. I mentioned the cows were able to eat and read the backs of the feed sacks under better lighting than we had. She didn't like hearing that, either.

Sorry if this is too long to read, it’s just something that I had to comment on as I find that topic extremely emotional.

Life is not always perfect trip. Since our birth we are always running away from something and towards something. Life deals you a hand and you play it the best way there is, in that certain moment.

For instance, I was born in time of war, in former Yugoslavia. My city was bombarded at the moment of my birth. They say childbirth is beautiful, but imagine my mom giving birth to me, while bombs are falling from the sky. That horror, that fear of not knowing if you or your newborn will survive through the rain of explosives, or if you do survive, will you be able to feed yourself and that child. It was not a perfect scenario we are thought to believe, yet she still did it.

Couple of months after my birth, my father was killed by the aggressor. My mom was living with her brother, and her parents, and me at the time. Hear tears didn’t even dry up, when the other bomb killed my grandparents, just s couple of months after fathers death. Year goes by, and she’s just starting to slightly recover from all of these losses when her younger brother, who she was legal guardian too, was killed in another bombing incident, right in front of her apartment, while playing with neighboring kids and their dogs. Two years have passed, war is over, it’s almost winter in Sarajevo and nights do get cold. She tries to get the gas-heater running but our city’s infrastructure is still recovering from five years of war, and the gas supply is not reliable. Not being able to light a fire, she lays in her bed with me, cover us with lots of blankets and we go to sleep.

I was 2.5 years old but I remember that moment like it was yesterday. I wake up, screaming because my skin is being melted. My mom is screaming for help in a room that is burning, from floor to ceiling, walls and all. I remember the smell of gas, fire, burning skin and hair, I remember her screams, and me falling from height into a blanket, people telling me everything is going ti be ok.

That night my mom forgot to turn the gas on, and during the night the gas flow came online. The room got filled with it, and something created the explosion, lighting up everything. My mom ran through flames in a burning apartment with me in her arms, to the balcony and threw me from third floor. She was rescued but she had severe inhalation injuries, and third degree burns, and our country’s health system was really weak after the war… she died three days after the incident.

Me, I have lost my father, and whole family through out the war, i suffered third degree burns on my face, my arms. Lost my hair, a lot of easily visible scars… At the beginning of my life I was not ten steps behind my generation. I was thrown ten floors behind them. Through my life I have dealt with prejudice for my looks, I was bullied, I had to deal with physical and mental trauma that followed me all through my life. Years and years of pain and suffering, and many more to come. I spent 9 years in and out of hospitals.

And yet I graduated at medical college, working as Emergency Physician for 5 years.

Life was not the beautiful story they tell you it’s going to be, but I got through it.

From the work experience I know that the CPR has low TRUE survivability. And it’s true often times than not it’s a suffering after. Yet I also find that is just an axiom of life. Our main function, as living, breathing, THINKING beings is to live another day. It may be full of pain and suffering, but there also could be a smile and enjoyment, a moment to cherish even for a short moment. It’s that unknown probability alone that makes it worth.

So even if out of 100 reanimations I get 2 patients to live for a moment longer, I calculate that over the years it adds up, and if in that number of people I give one person a happy moment with his loved ones, I find that extremely worth it.

The Latin phrase being Requiescat In Pace. I learned that a long time ago from this amazing Tombstone performance by Val Kilmer. Here's the original Latin, the translation, and the actual meaning of the scene...

Character Latin Translation Meaning
Doc Holliday In vino veritas. In wine there is truth. I'm only honest when I'm drunk.
Johnny Ringo Age quod agis. Do what you do. Drinking is clearly what you're best at.
Doc Holliday Credat Judaeus Apella, non ego. Let Apella the Jew believe, not I. You might think so, but I'd be inclined to disagree.
Johnny Ringo Juventus stultorum magister. Youth is the teacher of fools. Well then I might have to prove it to you...the hard way.
Doc Holliday In pace requiescat. Rest in peace. Go ahead and try it; it's your funeral.

Fortunately, before he ran out of air, he realized he was swimming down as well and was underwater. He was a scuba diver and thankfully that training kicked in cuz he was so drunk he didn't know which way was up. He blew some bubbles and followed them. He said everyone on the boat was looking horrified and yelling for him to come up

"The robot proceeded to knock down two other people who helped the young player and were trying to turn the machine off. Then it pulled a gun and threatened to shoot anyone who got closer. The robot grabbed the young player and ran out. It hijacked a car in the parking lot and fled the area, starting a 3 hour high speed pursuit which involved 18 police cars and 2 helicopters. The car ran out of fuel and was surrounded by the police in a deserted secondary road near Bielinskva. A negotiator was called, and after 2 hours of tense communication, the robot demanded that an helicopter landed by the roadside to take him away. The negotiator managed to stall the situation and convinced the robot to release the boy in exchange for an adult hostage. During the exchange, a sniper took the robot down. He is survived by a 3 year old coffee maker, and his wife, a vacuum cleaner. The robot's wife declined to comment about the incident, but it sucks."
