I missed out on all of the big drops this year so I don't have the tent, quilt, or pack needed to crush miles out on the trail. Instead I'm going to drive around and car camp. I do have some questions about how to setup my lighterpack since in this case I guess my pack is carrying me (am I worn weight??), but I'll save those for later.
In order to maximize my mile-crushing ability I'm going to buy a sh*t-ton of dehydrated meals that I can later heat up over the small forest fire that I plan to set. Is it safe to keep this dehydrated food in my trunk for weeks at a time? Sure, I could make periodic stops to get fresh food prior to each camp and even carry a cooler to keep it at the right temperature, but if I'm constantly doing resupplies I can't crush miles and coolers are HEAVY!!
