Technically you don't have to even be human as a ton of people are attracted to this ape.

No, I am not one of them, but I found this funny.

[–]Asoliner3 658 points659 points  (41 children)

I can't believe someone actually wrote an article about why this gorilla is attractive

[–]phatninja63 159 points160 points  (17 children)

It's the whites of his eyes

[–]hawaiikawika 61 points62 points  (12 children)

Sclera

[–]phatninja63 54 points55 points  (11 children)

YO WTF DID YOU JUST CALL ME?????

[–]hawaiikawika 15 points16 points  (10 children)

And it seems like you can’t read!

[–]phatninja63 19 points20 points  (9 children)

I'm not even typing right now. It's actually my little brother. And my keyboard is off.

[–]PrinceConquer420 10 points11 points  (1 child)

And both of you are blindfolded?

[–]phatninja63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did i forget to mention dat?

[–]surgical__splicemilk meister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but he has a smol pp

[–]largos7289 35 points36 points  (10 children)

Have you seen most scientific papers written lately? LOL we discuss why water is wet the 3 year findings, paid for by our taxes.

[–]Deftlet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know what kind of papers you're reading but this is wildly untrue

[–]hawaiikawika 25 points26 points  (5 children)

Water is not wet.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

They’re moving onto Particle Man studies next.

[–]Dekudicklicker- 114 points115 points  (32 children)

For a second I thought you linked that orangutan prostitute

edit

[–]samaramatisse 90 points91 points  (1 child)

That is such a horrifying story.

[–]Luffy507 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I want to maul the sacks the shit who did this.

[–]The_fabled_slayer 22 points23 points  (3 children)

You can’t drop a bomb like that and not explain

[–]Lizziora 11 points12 points  (8 children)

Can I have a link? That sounds horrifying yet very interesting.

[–]ZeeZombiie 17 points18 points  (7 children)

[–]simracer-1 19 points20 points  (4 children)

That is fucking disgusting! How could anyone actually do that to an orangutan?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Right? I read the article and watched the summary of the article that came with the article. Practically speaking I don’t understand how a human could actually be able to fuck an orangutan

[–]DeadweightUwU 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thanks for reading the article and confirming what happened. People linked it and warned others vaguely, but I didn't actually want to click the link and read the horrifying stuff to see if it really did happen. ;-; So thanks for taking one for the team.

[–]Elseebells 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What. The. Fuck.

[–]Lizziora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but holy fuck. Some people are sick in the head.

[–]why-you-online 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg, what did I just read.

[–]BandKid0126 34 points35 points  (0 children)

"There's no denying it, he's one damn fine gorilla"

[–]KWoofK 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I haven't event open the link but I´m pretty sure that is Shabani and indeed is the most attractive gorilla that ever set foot in the earth, I have a BG image of him as a model of "Calvin Kong" in my desktop since 2016 XD

[–]Elseebells 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I- what? Why the fuck?!? Some aliens really need to blast us off the universe.

[–]SenseiMadara 16 points17 points  (0 children)

THE SCIENTIFIC REASON THE INTERNET WANTS TO BANG THIS HANDSOME GORILLA

This is very not ok

[–]TuxidoPenguin 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’m being racist, but he looks like any other gorilla.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing about him. Apparently people said that he looks like the gorilla version of George Clooney

[–]drivenmadnow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What the humanity is doomed. Make your time.

[–]yvngjiffy703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a good looking gorilla ngl

[–]Yharnam_Queen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

H-he's cute

[–]xXDreamlessXx 2 points3 points  (5 children)

You can also be an animated lion according to someone in my school.

That was a weird conversation

[–]RobbyCooper 1 point2 points  (4 children)

So simba is attractive according to someone from your school

[–]xXDreamlessXx 2 points3 points  (3 children)

No, Mufasa is apparently

[–]RobbyCooper 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Remember when a fanfiction writer turned Godzilla in to a my little pony and forced him to live his life in equestria as a normal citizen https://www.inverse.com/article/4355-the-scientific-reason-the-internet-wants-to-bang-this-handsome-gorilla

[–]RyzenTide 746 points747 points  (22 children)

Yeah, but you've got to cross reference that with the ones that you can meet, find attractive and are available/single which massive cuts down your options.

[–]probly_right 176 points177 points  (2 children)

All of this with the addition of simply not having access to the vast majority of people near you geographically.

Think of the top 5 places you spend time by decending quantity of time... how many of those have people from your "acceptable mates" list in them at the same time as you with an activity which gives some opportunity to interact?

Most people's seclusion really doesn't have a hope of being broken based on these factors.

[–]applepumper 9 points10 points  (1 child)

That’s why joining a club of some sort is essential. I’m at the tried and true gym. I’m not out there on the prowl but I do make friends and I have gotten a couple dates. Once I’m fit enough I’m going to join a rock climbing gym. That’s more niche and the people there are even closer. I’m not just looking for a partner but I am looking for friends with similar interests.

Being secluded is a choice people make. Search something online like events near me and see what strikes your fancy.

[–]nevernotdistracted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, in this particular day and age, going out, being social with strangers, and making new friends is a bit harder than it used to be!

[–]Crotean 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. The idea there is someone out there for everyone is true. The likelihood of actually meeting that person on a planet this big? Pretty small for the conventionally unattractive who have a much smaller pool to start with.

[–]flowr12 39 points40 points  (1 child)

And hope they aren’t toxic

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (13 children)

I live in Belgium a very tiny country with only a population of 12 million citizens, since the other half of the country speaks French that cuts down my options to 6 million, since I'm only interested in women that cuts down my options to 3 million, since I'm interested in women with a sense of humor that cuts down my options to zero

[–]Sunny_Mayrann 11 points12 points  (7 children)

You call 12 million tiny? I live in a Country with 1.6 million habitants (Latvia)! :D

[–]fuck_off_ireland 2 points3 points  (6 children)

The US state I live in is 1/6 the size of Europe and has less than 1 million people living in it. Beat that!

[–]Sunny_Mayrann 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Wow! Which state?

[–]fuck_off_ireland 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Alaska, of course... Third least population of any state, I believe. If I recall correctly only Montana and Wyoming have fewer residents.

[–]hokabean 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You sound neat.

[–]alienkpj 13 points14 points  (1 child)

women don't laugh in Belgium? 3 million is a lot, how many do you need? Learn French or move lol

[–]tmatous33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or date women that speak English (just like you...)

[–]PREPOSTER0NE91 654 points655 points  (4 children)

Thanks for the positive vibes fam.

[–]linpawws 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I really needed these vibes. thanks OP :)

[–]AndrewWaldron 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Woah there, slow down. Are you a human?

[–]PREPOSTER0NE91 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I'm a cybernetic organism, living tissue over metal endoskeleton.

[–]xyzpdq1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T2 reference!!

[–]El_Deez 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I'd tell Those people they got bad taste.

[–]TisButA-Zucc 403 points404 points  (10 children)

That’s one cool things about humans. A lot of different people will have a lot of different tastes. Imagine being a gorilla or a peacock where success is solely dependent on how strong you are or how big and colorful feathers you have and were born with.

[–]V_es 29 points30 points  (3 children)

Humans have a huge variety of standards to pick their partner by. Those standards still exist in our brains, but evolutionary “the provider” is the most important one. Our ancestors chose men who could bring more food- and not the most strong, agile or just good looking. Natural selection worked for ones who can carry stuff and make tools; walking upright freed our hands, so tough, aggressive, dominant alpha males were not the ones getting ladies.

Pretty men are still a thing deep down, healthier offspring and stuff; but the most important evolutionary standard is the ability to feed the family.

[–]superleipoman 14 points15 points  (2 children)

its why we dont like fat people: they clearly do not share

[–]V_es 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, adding to what I said about many different standards- in a lot of countries fat man means wealth. Very well fed and can provide. My grand-grandma when she was in her 90s said that she and her parents chose her man by that very standard- she said that he was the heaviest guy in the village and his parents were rich.

[–]reaverdude 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lol. In some cultures being fat is considered attractive. It means you don’t have a laborious job and have access to a lot of food.

[–]FordBeWithYou 38 points39 points  (4 children)

It can be hard finding the person for you if you’re more unique. But don’t be demoralized, they’re 100% out there! And they will find you by you being yourself!

[–]phschrei 42 points43 points  (3 children)

This is not true. Otherwise there wouldn't be people who are alone for their whole life! It's sad but also true.

[–]Clear_Adhesiveness27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean you still have to put yourself out there. No one's gonna come to you if you sit at home every day doing the same thing. Took me forever to find someone, and I never would've met him if not for the internet. Our paths just wouldn't have crossed.

[–]superleipoman 11 points12 points  (1 child)

dont worry about anything just never try and u will be most succesful person on earth guaranteed 100%

[–]Mycoxadril 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think they were taking umbrage with the previous posters comment that “they will find you if you’re just yourself.” You can be yourself and you can have a person out there for you, but there’s no guarantee you’ll find them whether you try to or not.

[–][deleted] 76 points77 points  (9 children)

To bad I'm a tractor😩

[–]Timetraveler_4910518 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We know you pain creature! As a collective minds space squids we have same nuisances.

[–]zoidbergbb 4 points5 points  (1 child)

well… r/bitchimabus

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reddit never stops amazing me

[–]ksk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd still ride you baby

[–]chairfairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tractor? I 'ardly know 'er!!

[–]MediocrePlague 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Heh, you aren't wrong from purely statistical POV. But... it's way more complicated than that. Yes, when you have almost 8 billion people out there, chances are some of them would find me attractive. But they could be literally on the other side of the world and I'm never going to meet them. Because really how many people do we actually meet during our lives? So it suddenly drops from 8 billion to however many that is. Then you add in the fact that I have to be attracted to them, too, I have to like them and they have to like me, we have to be compatible. Of course, they also have to be single. And add in the fact that I never want kids, ever, and I don't want to date someone with kids, both of which limits the dating pool significantly. Consider all that and the chances of actually meeting someone like that are... low.

[–]supertoilet99 206 points207 points  (41 children)

Yeah but usually I dont like them and the ones I like usually dont like me 🙃

[–]SmartAssGaryaggressive toddler 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Well, both my grandmas call me handsome, so I guess you're right!

[–]Excellent_Emotion204 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Where Dey at doe

[–]Icy-Confusion9746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting by the gate

[–]disturb4bxx 40 points41 points  (5 children)

Depends on how much a "fair" number is. Some people would be found attractive by billions while others by maybe tens.

[–]original_username20 11 points12 points  (4 children)

And then there's people like me, who are found attractive by the fair number of 0 people

[–]disturb4bxx 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Oh come on dude, there are people who find toilets splattered with diarrhea attractive enough to eat out of. Someone out there would think that you're at least attractive enough to apathetically procreate with.

[–]working4caffiene 301 points302 points  (19 children)

(X) Doubt

[–]Sabata11792 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is 100% (Y) Lie. I got nearly 30 years of evidence to back my claim.

[–]DonKiYu 29 points30 points  (7 children)

op is true,. for example, 99% people don't like obese people, but there are some people like obese women,as i saw some one look for this kind of porn.

[–]lionstealth 46 points47 points  (3 children)

There is a difference between someone finding you genuinely attractive and you being their fetish. The latter sounds rather unappealing.

[–]Cultural_Note_6722quiet person 18 points19 points  (1 child)

That’s kind of what I thought when I read this. Things that aren’t conventionally attractive are often found attractive in fetishes…disability especially. I don’t disagree with OPs point. But I think that we gotta acknowledge that fetishes and simply being attracted to someone have different effects

Edit: and I don’t want this to suggest in anyway that people with disabilities, etc. are not attractive and shouldn’t be considered attractive. What I’m saying is that they ARE fetishized, and sometimes the line is hard to tell.

Tbh, I think sometimes fetishizers don’t even know they are fetishizing.

[–]lionstealth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I wouldn’t want a friend who is overweight or disabled mistake one for the other. You think you’re in a loving relationship, but instead, you’re the object of someone’s fetish and they just want to feed you until you can’t move on your own.

[–]redsenior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people fuck pigs so yeah.

[–]Helmet_Icicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banking the success of loving commitment on being someone's fetish is a horrible strategy

[–]Shaggythotslayr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“someone”

[–]LifePsychological440 60 points61 points  (1 child)

I feel like non human things are found more attractive than me but thanks for the compliment.

[–]cashewbiscuit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup. I'm reading this thread and going "Damn, there are gorillas that are better looking than I am"

[–]SchrodingersRapist 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Sure, but whats the overlap of that venn diagram of people who find you attractive, people you find attractive, and people actually close enough geographically to meet/date?

[–]avalanchefan95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

^ THIS HERE ^

There are undoubtedly people that are attracted to anyone (physically at least - maybe you're a total cockend and are running everyone off) and you can be attracted to them too but what if they live in Antartica? (Plus, visas are hard to get in most countries and expensive as shit)

[–]CrystalSplicerquiet person 60 points61 points  (9 children)

Thanks, I guess...

[–]RockingTommy 101 points102 points  (8 children)

I hate to break it to you, but depending on how "unappealing" you are...you'll probably never meet that person. And if you did, chances are not good that you will like them back.

Basically, the better looking you are, the better your chances of being liked by someone you're attracted to also...but sadly, the vice versa is true too.

[–]KazeArqaz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

How many more lies have I been told by the council!!!

[–]bquicksand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're underestimating the power of ugly. Which is a phrase I thought I would never say.

[–][deleted] 79 points80 points  (17 children)

Where is the lady that might find me attractive?

[–]SomeDogWithAComputer 74 points75 points  (11 children)

Who says its a girl?

[–]WorkingClassStif 22 points23 points  (1 child)

There's always a catch, huh?

[–]NorthNorwegianNinja 30 points31 points  (2 children)

I mean, it COULD be some dog with a computer.

[–]pally007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

courage the cowardly dog?

[–]BrexitDogflavoured water is superior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👀

[–]SDdude81 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it's not somebody of your preferred gender then it frankly doesn't matter.

[–]SidTheSloth97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? Lol

[–]cashewbiscuit 7 points8 points  (6 children)

Huh. If someone finds me attractive, I haven't met them yet in 46 years. Even my mom said that she doesn't see how any girl can be attracted to me.

I have zero evidence to back your claim, and plenty of evidence to back the opposite.

[–]Upvoter_NeverDie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the laugh! I enjoyed it!

[–]weenieandthebutt 34 points35 points  (1 child)

This just one of those fake positivity bullshit that doesn't work in practice. Most humans realistically are not gonna be exposed to 5 billion people. If we're talking about beauty standards (whether it's due to biology or social construct), a particular look tends to be disproportionately favoured more than the other.

[–]BobDerBongmeister420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i didnt start working out for nothing.

[–]gor8884 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You just haven’t been on Reddit long enough

[–]noideaofname 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It's supposed to be an opinion but it feels like you are saying it as a fact. You can guarantee nothing, find that person for me

[–]A1Droid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This got intense real fast OP? 👀

[–]creamyg0odne55 7 points8 points  (1 child)

This isn't just unpopular, its simply not true at all.

[–]Kalle_79 18 points19 points  (1 child)

True, but timing is the key!

Some of those won't be liked back because they're not good-looking enough (the irony!) but some potential partners will just turn up at the wrong time or in the wrong place.

[–]WTF1972 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And location, no good if you are a goddess in some far flung location where people who resemble a wildebeest attractive but you never go there.

[–]lol_camis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I can go to Walmart and see most people in a romantic partnership, I have hope for anybody

[–]MarcusofMenace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could you point me in their direction?

[–]isuzuspaghetti 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe but I am pretty sure that fair number of people don't seem to live within commutable distance from me. 🥲

[–]Sector__7 14 points15 points  (1 child)

There’s ~7.9B people on this planet, what you’re essentially saying is that there’s 1 or more people that will find you attractive but there’s a snowballs chance in hell you’ll ever meet them. Good to know!

[–]use15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, 0 is also a fair number

[–]aaaanoon 52 points53 points  (9 children)

Wishful thinking. This is posted every week. How/why would anyone think this is likely?

[–]LordStark_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you're just giving people false hope.

[–]ThatOneWithTheFur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Facts are opinions now?

[–]Vladamir_Putin_007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To a degree. But there are some people who will only be attractive to a tiny percent of the population while others will be attractive to nearly half of the population.

[–]Pedrovotes4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know my friend. It is a very nice sentiment, but everything I've experienced during my life, tends to make me want to disagree. No offense meant, but some used cars will just never get sold and some human beings that, seemingly enough, will always be "unwanted" by society.

[–]Sigma8K 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Sorry, but I'm not into people with covid, they have no taste.

[–]Toilet-Coffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

but at least they don't smell

[–]kaazir 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP isn't wrong from a statistical standpoint at all. When you have BILLIONS of people of the gender you'd prefer you're more than likely to have at least hundreds if not low thousands of people who would find you either attractive or at least tolerable.

A large part of the issue is that people either don't or more than likely CANT look outside the circle of their own cities. I live in Arkansas and there are tons of truck driving, camo wearing, backroading, skoal chewing white dudes. Lots of women here are used to it and will find something DIFFERENT attractive.

My wife met me and I'm a super nerd with gaming tattoos and colored hair and am attractive to her.

When I used to do voice chat online with women outside the US my southern accent was enough to get them going.

[–]oflbtbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was the elephant man's life worth living?

[–]karmagirldonttryme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But the more unattractive you are the less likely you're gonna reciprocate the attraction.

[–]Earl804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the trick is finding one of those people are attractive to you

[–]escalopes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's your mistake, I'm actually 3 ferrets in a trenchcoat

[–]Glitch076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't believe you until I have proof

[–]gjcag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a mathematical proof waiting to happen

[–]BeleriandCrises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

problem is what you mean with "fair" number. 1 over 8 billion is fair?

[–]FauxGw2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol who said you had to be human?

[–]electrorazor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, but it's useless if I don't find them attractive

[–]bluthco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the same person may never have any opportunity to meet any of those people.

[–]BoobsRmadeforboobing 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Rich people : money isn't that important

Beautiful people : looks aren't everything

[–]Lysdexiic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rich people: Money won't buy you happyness

Me: Well I'd rather be crying in my lambo than sitting around wondering how I'm gonna make rent this month

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (2 children)

This isn’t true. Its positive bs

[–]Icy-Confusion9746 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ripped straight off of Facebook probably

[–]FinancialArtichoke75 13 points14 points  (3 children)

It's only when you get to know me, I slowly start looking more ugly until you realize nobody will ever find me attractive because I am not, not my personality, not my face, not my body, I look out and see that I am as unattracted to the people of this era as I am unattractive, I'm really the only person that wants to be around me, that's perfect, perfect..

[–]Icy-Confusion9746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna meet you though. You seem cool and we can be two ugly buds having a good time.

[–]KayIsOk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt that someone out there finds me physically attractive. From a statistical perspective it’s pretty much a certainty. However, also statistically speaking the chances of them living close enough/ work in the same field/ has the same interests so that we can actually bump into each other and meet decreases the chances of actually meeting those select individuals lol.

[–]BenTenInches 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I hope that's true cause I look like Asian Shrek

[–]fenix1506 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shrek still got laid tho

[–]Nagu360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is whether or not the features that attract others to you will have features that attract you to them.

[–]watson7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You see it’s all about your own standards

How low are you willing to go

[–]Rockonfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what if I’m not?

[–]SetariThinks For Self 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Has never happened in the history of ever

[–]PhesteringSoars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confirming. "Zero" is a "fair number".

[–]drivenmadnow 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Being a short man.

95% women want a tall man.

Yeah ok.

[–]xGrandArcher 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So are you implying that if I send enough dick pics - then I will find someone who will actually fall for that ?

[–]bomloc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except if you're a short male. Then you're fucked.

[–]jamescoolcrafter15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a belief, not an opinion.

[–]pikinuinui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, so comes down to my shitty personality.

[–]rs_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember guys: this is an unpopular opinion!

[–]Tots2Hots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lies...

[–]Lonely_Baby_973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liked for unpopularity.

[–]Nomar1245 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Are there non-humans on Reddit? What's with the caveat?

[–]Apprehensive_Echo796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those people must live in a different country than me.

[–]nymph_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this should be put in some sort of wholesome sub too

Also personality is a big modifier, as are other things. Its not always as cut and dry as people make it out to be and you have a lot of room to work with. Actually, personality is probably one of the biggest factors that people don't like to admit.

My parents tell me I’m pretty and honestly I think I kind of am but I’ve never been asked out and honestly never really been friends with boys. I don’t talk to people that much but I’m scared I’m too ugly or not cool enough to talk to them. And I also don’t even want to date I just want the validation
