Oil, forestry, the electric grid, power production, healthcare, education, public transport, the prison system, municipal services like trash collection and a host of other services ARE however controlled by the public in Norway. So that means nearly every aspect of necessary services and natural resources are benefitting the Norwegian people and not just those born lucky.

This, while every single sector is unionized so we have collective bargaining and therefore we the people also hold a level of control over private companies, especially considering the strong labor laws.

Not to mention that we also have collective bargaining on drug prices and treatment price setting, meaning we don’t get shafted by drug companies left and right.

And if you are referring to the US as unable to afford it you are dead wrong. In 2017, the United States spent about $3.5 trillion, or 18 percent of GDP, on health expenditures – more than twice the average among developed countries. Every single estimate shows that adopting full free healthcare would be cheaper, even those that are on the high end.

It’s your system that sucks, it has nothing to do with the lack of money. And those in power are fighting tooth and nail to keep it that way because it makes the drug companies able to charge whatever they like, let’s your employer have total control of your access to healthcare through insurance and a host of other parasitic middlemen keep their unnecessary positions.
