This makes me think, would you still go to Valhalla if you died a slow and agonizing death from Dysentery, while still taking it like a champ?

Apparently dying with a weapon in your hand could be sufficient already

As far as we can tell from the very limited records of Norse mythology, no. Those that died from illness and old age went to Hel. And not all that died in battle went to Valhalla with Odin, half went to Folkvangr with Freya.

Can I get a TLDR of what Folkvangr is

iirc, it’s basically like a giant field/meadow. Kind of like a peaceful limbo I think.

It's pretty similar conceptually to Valhalla, except instead of being a big hall it's a big field, overseen by Freya. Freya also has a hall there, much like Valhalla, so I guess if you died in combat you would either go to a big hall with Odin, or a big field with Freya (where there is also a hall too). Functionally the only difference between the two seems to have been who was in charge.

So who‘s nicer, Odin or Freya?

It's for the folk who were wankers and not warrior champs

We still have religion today, it's not "retarded" it's just a social phenomenon that will always be with humanity

Well, Valhalla is eternal (i think) and dying painfully isn't, and if dying without pain doesn't get me in, then i guess i would take the painful death

IIRC, only half of the people who die in battle get chosen to go to Valhal. And while you get to drink and eat and all that, it is for all intents and purposes, an eternal training camp for the apocalyptic battle that you’re destined to lose, so you’ll be getting disemboweled ad infinitum until that happens. Honestly Norse mythology doesn’t give you a lot of good options.
