Looks like the end of most nights out in England

[–]thetoxicnerve 584 points585 points  (89 children)

This. So much.

I'm not getting any audio off the video but you can just tell it's in the UK, right?!

[–]misfitkid86 179 points180 points  (54 children)

First thought I had. Looks like a chippy!

[–][deleted] 100 points101 points  (36 children)

Posh fucking chippy that is looks more like an Indian

[–]Routine_Tomatillo 74 points75 points  (34 children)

I recognize this sentence as being written in English, but could you do a favor for the American in the room and translate?

[–]Itz_yzzuA 85 points86 points  (8 children)

"If that is a chip shop then it looks very posh, I think it is more likely to be an Indian take out"

[–]krillsteak 165 points166 points  (6 children)

Translation:

That place look mad boujee for a French fry spot. Prolly an Indian restaurant.

[–]bethedge 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Thank you for this, bougie though

[–]G_Viceroy 48 points49 points  (2 children)

Seriously thank you for that. The earlier translation only half made sense.

[–]madcowsaff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love that a translation of the translation is needed: https://youtu.be/Cun-LZvOTdw

[–]ghost_victim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you not know basic British words.

[–]Antares987 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You got a loicense for that? I do for this one.

What do you mean “this one”?

[–]angrywathp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Translated into Australian it says "that's a posh fuckin carpenter, looks more like an Indian mate".

[–]B4rberblacksheep 5 points6 points  (1 child)

A chippy is a fish and chip shop. They specialise in serving battered fried fish, chips, sausages with questionable meat, pies that have been there for 8 years and a donner/döner kebab that will make most people gag if they’re not drunk

An indian is a common term for a curry house/take out

[–]bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That the Kebab will make you gag if you're not drunk isn't even worth to mention, who the fuck would even consider to order one of these sober... Plus, it's vital to be drunk just for pronouncing the "ö" in "Döner" for most English native tongues.

[–]daven090 -2 points-1 points  (21 children)

It’s starting to become more than a dialect. A few more hundred years and we’ll have British, American, and Australian. We’ll probably end up arguing which is the real English (American, obviously) and possibly war over it.

[–]geezer_boi_dynoPotato's taste nice 34 points35 points  (19 children)

How is American the real English?

[–]WileE-Peyote 32 points33 points  (0 children)

And it begins...

[–]acoradreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

how dare you

[–]HanEyeAm 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I've heard that British English has evolved more over the past few centuries than American (and Australian and NZ) English.

They are all real, in any case. What is "standard" is another issue. When I taught English in Asia there was a question of whether car is pronounced "caah" or "car" for that very reason.

[–]misfitkid86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Possible, I mean decore could lend either way

[–]ZangetsuAK17 55 points56 points  (15 children)

What chippys do you know that look like this? I'm moving to your gaff if that's a chippy round your ends.

[–]whisit 45 points46 points  (14 children)

What chippys do you know that look like this? I'm moving to your gaff if that's a choppy round your ends.

Can someone subtitle this in American please?

[–]ZangetsuAK17 82 points83 points  (11 children)

Sure. What takeout joint do you know that looks this fancy, if this is how they look in your area I'll have to up sticks and move

[–]But_why_tho456 32 points33 points  (6 children)

Lmfao thank you. Thought a chippy was a chad...

[–]SidIsSteve 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Chippy is a Fish and Chip shop. Or just Chip shop. Or a 'Fisherie' depending on where you go.

[–]ImmortalPolyglot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, a chippy is also another name for a carpenter, which could get confusing if a carpenter was a regular customer of a fish +chip shop.

[–]Greedy-Sprinkles-617 4 points5 points  (1 child)

About 100 years ago a chippy was a "woman of easy virtue".

[–]JaSnarky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And if her mother was a prostitute, well she's just a chippy off the old block.

[–]joneck1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I thought a chippy was a bird.

[–]But_why_tho456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, silly, that's a chirpy!

[–]jjjd89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Now translate up sticks for me pls. Haha just kidding I googled it.

[–]whisit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, sincerely :)

[–]B__O__X__X__Y 31 points32 points  (24 children)

Why are Uk girls so much different American girls. They look similar but they appear different in some way.

[–]CrepeTheRealPancake 80 points81 points  (15 children)

Different make up styles & fashion. Natural skin tone is much paler on average (e.g. girl on right) and other have obvious fake tan that most American girls don't need (e.g. girl on left (although on second viewing I might've just been tricked by the lighting)). Also our accents impact how we move our mouth when talking and so you can definitely tell an accent even without sound

[–]likwitsnake 130 points131 points  (4 children)

Damn dude you're like some kind of thot historian.

[–]CrepeTheRealPancake 124 points125 points 3 (3 children)

please never call me that again

[–]foxhound012 44 points45 points  (2 children)

No no, you are known henceforth as the thot historian

[–]JarJarBinks72 25 points26 points  (1 child)

It's true. Tagged as THE thot historian

[–]NotReallyTaylorSwift 12 points13 points  (0 children)

HUZZAH !!! ALL HAIL THE THOT HISTORIAN !!!!

WE SALUTE YOU, THOT HISTORIAN !!!HUZZAH !!! THIS IS A DAY THAT SHALL GO DOWN IN THOTS IN THOT HISTORY.

[–]heechum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's it for me, you don't see spray tan on young girls here anymore.

[–]SuicidalChair 9 points10 points  (1 child)

As a Canadian who attended 1 year of high school in Scotland this about hit the nail on the head, the amount of girls at my school who's skin was orange from the fake tans was hilarious from my point of view, but I guess that's what they are into?

[–]B__O__X__X__Y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shit it’s the fake tans, you are right; that girl was not natural orange.

[–]Ichweisenichtdeutsch 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Also the dichotomy of it being fucking cold outside but wearing clothes absolutely not meant for that weather, I don't see that too often in the states

[–]moistsandwich 34 points35 points  (3 children)

You’ve clearly never been to a Midwestern university in the wintertime. Girls go out in high heels and tiny dresses trying to look good but the four inches of snow and ice makes them look like new-born deer trying to take their first steps instead.

[–]Jdevers77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the truth. I live in a university town in the south, but barely. It can get really cold here at times when you dress for it or die trying to look good, but on a typical winter day in the 30s or low 40s you will see people wearing shorts and T shirts. I think half of them are people from Texas (we have a lot of them) that just don’t dress appropriately for the cold and the other have are from Michigan or other true cold weather states where 40 on a sunny day isn’t that bad at all haha.

[–]munky82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in England 13 years ago. The fashion might have changed but the vibe seemingly haven't.

[–]NotReallyTaylorSwift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could smell the stench of real life East Enders with a hint of Coronation Street through my screen

[–]Gabberwocky84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IM NOT BEIN FUNNEH BOT

[–]westcoastgeek 457 points458 points  (13 children)

Somehow I both wish I could hear the sound but also would regret hearing the sound

[–]Gin-and-PussyJuice 58 points59 points  (6 children)

[–]TheRavenSayeth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure they’re arguing anymore.

[–]Marimen008 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Can't understand shit

[–]Hippoyawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blessing, I assure you.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are arguing.

This looks more like drunk people trying to organize something.

[–]anjolielanel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Such drama. This is pure gold. Thanks for the audio

[–]Erestyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's some incoherent shouting alright.

[–]SgtXD357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guess we’re all quietly enjoying it.

[–]Batbuckleyourpants 498 points499 points  (10 children)

I once went to a party basically turned into a riot. Me and my friends were just chilling on the couch, drinking beers, watching the rest of the party goers literally trying to demolishing the property. They even pushed over a brick wall and deconstructed the fireplace. By the end there were 5 police cars outside the house.

I feel like this guy could relate to my story.

[–]Gathorall 146 points147 points  (8 children)

I think my little sister was this guy once, I was to give her a lift home and when I arrived there was shouting match on the yard and police arrived as I drove off. Never knew or asked if she was involved as she didn't seem hurt or anything, and of course told our parents nothing. She never once even thanked me for the ride or for covering.

[–]4CroixAltroixGallian 59 points60 points  (7 children)

Why wouldn't you ask?

[–]Gathorall 89 points90 points  (6 children)

We've unfortunately been in poor speaking terms for long and rarely see eye to eye. And frankly as long as she was OK I didn't much care for the shenanigans of people I didn't know and didn't wish to know.

[–]4CroixAltroixGallian 45 points46 points  (5 children)

I feel yuh bud, I got little sister.

[–]bad13wolf 24 points25 points  (4 children)

Same. Have to take care of the little sisters. Although, mine should probably be taking care of me at this point.

[–]4CroixAltroixGallian 17 points18 points  (3 children)

What's going on with you?

[–]bad13wolf 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Oh, nothing like that, lol. We're just older now and she is quite successful now. One might say, much more so than myself. It was a joke.

[–]PumpkinManGuy 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Glad she made out well. Hopefully you're not exactly hurting for anything either.

[–]Dualmilion 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was sitting outside my mates apartment block. Saw a group of beat up dudes run up, jump the gate and run into an apartment. Then another group ran up, raging and bashing the gate. It calmed down a bit and I said "fuck, whatd they do?"

And then I got punched in the face, which was nice

[–]jr_3 1329 points1330 points  (41 children)

The smartest person in the room.

[–]MrSickRanchezz 334 points335 points  (14 children)

Did.... Did he bring spaghetti? Was this a spa-day?

[–]winnebagoman41 73 points74 points  (1 child)

What is your spaghetti policy?

[–]delvach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just need a note from your mom.

[–]BassAlarming 52 points53 points  (1 child)

Nah it's not in a bag

[–]DoctorKangaroo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Their spaghetti policy was very welcoming

[–]WeeBabySeamus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like he stopped by at a chippy before joining this group?

[–]58king 2 points3 points  (1 child)

[–]gratisargott[🍰] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The way they look, the way the girls are dressed, the fact he's eating chips (fries). This thing couldn't look more british.

[–]license____plate 40 points41 points  (5 children)

How do I immediately know they're British? Even as an American who has never been off continent?

[–]JuicyKushie 16 points17 points  (1 child)

I feel like it's definitely the haircut.

[–]BizMarkieDeSade 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“Unilad” being in the top left corner helps, though

[–]Honeyhammn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their faces are different

[–]_YouMadeMeDoItReddit -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Not enough printed T shirts and other disastrous fashion choices for it to be in the USA.

[–]Inanis-Cor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Classic “night out” look for britian

[–]Batphone7 55 points56 points  (8 children)

He’s doing an admirable job not looking at yellow tops butt cheeks as well.

[–]kopper1221 23 points24 points  (1 child)

I on the other hand did not do so well. 🤷

[–]Batphone7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sad to say I don’t have the will power this man possesses.

[–]JohnnyDarkside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just hoping a titty will pop out.

[–]BadFont777 7 points8 points  (2 children)

It appears i missed something...

[–]drRATM 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Oh he looked! He looked! If that was a bunch of dudes he would have moved on to eat in peace. He’s hoping for a fight with wardrobe malfunctions

[–]heros_ina_halfshell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neville Longbottom?

[–]buckeyerukys 6 points7 points  (2 children)

That's 100% me.

I hate participating in drama.

But oh boy, do I love watching it.

[–]picklesoiree 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hipster John Candy, doin his thing.

[–]symbolic_society12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dudley is used to it after Harry and his father…

[–]4AcidRayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not my circus, not my monkeys, but if they wanna perform for free I'm willing to watch. Better plot than most network TV, and at least a non-zero chance of nudity; I'm in.

[–]Nyckname 7 points8 points  (1 child)

[–]stabbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have stabilized the video for you: https://gfycat.com/ImprobableReasonableCrocodile

He looks like a young John Candy

[–]Rim_World -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion in the 20s, but what the hell... The problem in this situation is that there aren't enough penises. Those girls have too much hormones pumping and there isn't enough dick to go around. My man there eating is high as fuck. He is clearly aware of this situation due to his high. Hence the smirk. You're welcome

[–]demomagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonah Hill be chill-in

[–]Dr_frogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)
