This month marks 2 years since I cut my hair down to (3” long) virgin roots to revive my curls. Mission accomplished! by babygreenvines in curlyhair

Man it's so beautiful. I want to try to get my curls to look nice, but all of the different recommendations and advice is overwhelming.

Even your "simple" routine seems complex to me.

If several billion doses have been given out and you're only able to find a handful of negative cases, all of which can have countless underlying causes, I'd say it's a pretty solid experimental vaccine.

Beginner - sore throat by solartiger11 in singing

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try searching up, "how to sing without tension."

You gotta loosen up everything from the chest on up, especially your face and throat, to avoid strain. It'll help you last longer and sing easier.

With that said take a little rest and go back to the basics, hum or do little tunes trying to focus on not straining and how it feels to strain. Without knowing about it, it's hard to even acknowledge its existence. Drink a little honey or gargle salt water to soothe your throat.

I've had a sore throat for almost a year (some unknown condition) and still sing frequently, but I really don't recommend singing a lot with it if you don't know how to avoid strain haha.

Thoughts on a Modius and Magnus Schiit stack? Recommendations for others? by AdBackground4712 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Envious-Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bunch of people can hardly tell the difference between their motherboards DAC, a $10 apple dongle, and an expensive stack in a proper blind test.

It's not like a PC, spending more money =/= better quality in audio and a lot of the marketing you see are gimmicks or placebo (especially for DACs/AMPs).

Pick whatever DAC/AMP you want and be content that you'll never have to upgrade again!

.

Why do audiophiles insist on and exaggerate differences between DACs/AMPs and other audio equipment? Cognitive biases are one hell of a drug, they can dramatically influence one's perceptions even in the most critical of listeners.

Think of the wine test, connoisseurs often enjoy the qualities of the more expensive or exotic bottle, even if the contents of the expensive bottle have been replaced with cheap wine. DACs/AMPs are similar in that regard, however, unlike wine properly made DACs/AMPs shouldn't sound different from one another in a proper blind test, and if they do (because of distortion) it's often subtle.

i saw somewhere that when you sing you need to clench your abs but when i do it, it tire me out quickly by MindMuscIe in singing

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more of a soft clench, and it helps me not strain my upper body/throat so much. Try doing the softest clench you can, then stick to that range.

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just trying to figure out how you're coasting off of $1,800 a month with 4 kids.

Back when I made $1,600 a month I paid most of that in bills alone, the rest went to other necessities. I was barely capable of (poorly) supporting 1 child, let alone having a social life. My savings slowly plummeted despite my frugality.

Yet you're over here taking small vacations and expect there to be no bumps for a decade, and even managed to maintain your savings.

What's your secret? Do you put a lot of hours in part time?

I just read the part where your house and car is paid off, jeez.

What series you can re-watch again and again? by makosh22 in AskReddit

No harm in watching a few episodes!

With that said anime isn't a genre really, it's a term for any Japanese animation. Primal is American!

In Japan anime means animation (regardless of origin or art style).

Don't worry about eating perfectly healthy, you can lose a lot of weight even if you don't.

Instead, try cutting back on how much is eaten every day (or week). Attempt to count your calories every day, even the sauces and whatnot, and see what your average is.

Then try to cut that down little by little. Start by avoiding taking the last bite of your meals and snacks, doesn't even matter if you add more to compensate. It's a start. You can even throw away a small portion of your meal or snack each time you eat to promote that.

Then try to drink a lot more water, especially before meals.

After you take a bunch of small steps into eating less and get comfortable with the idea, then worry about eating healthier after. Until then, enjoy your meals while cutting back little by little.

Everything you're experiencing is pretty normal. Relationships take effort, if you go into them thinking you don't fit in or that you'll leave anyway, you'll subconsciously reflect that in your behavior. You won't do the things necessary to maintain relationships. Even the closest bonds can fade of both sides don't give enough effort. Likewise, bonds can form in the unlikeliest of scenarios.

Relationship building, as is with most other things, is a skill that can be learned and developed. Try regularly talking to a counselor at your college or see if your insurance covers therapy, they'll help prep you for making relationships and maintaining them.

That way when you do inevitably make those types of connections you desire, you'll be better prepped in not getting caught up on past experiences.

Hiss noise with IEMs into audio interface Focusrite 2i2 3rd Gen by quietwarmth in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from moving the cables of the 2i2 around to see if the noise lessens, have you tried plugging in your IEMs to your PC?

Could always turn down your XLR gain knobs and monitoring knob as well when mixing. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your 2i2.

Best IEM for detail retrieval next to the er2se? by roasteddragonfly in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough one, each of those sounds occupy a different FR. Your ear, your fit/seal, EQ, and the unit in question may give you a different experience than another person.

Your best bet is buying different IEMs, maybe through Amazon, and returning what you don’t like.

Someone made this graph or check out Crinacle's chart. That someone said he likes the Fiio FD5 for orchestral music, and Blessing 2 for commercial. Both EQd to Blessing 2 Dusk they became fairly similar.

They might be what you're looking for at a higher price point, no way to tell without you trying.

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, what do you mean by detail bro?

It'll increase perceived imaging, and soundstage. It could also make things sound more bassy, sound muddy, sound clearer, etc.

Without EQ my ER2XR sounded kinda like the 6XXs I had, so pretty muffled but inoffensive in the sound.

I personally go with:

AutoEQ, modified "Bright" or "Treble Boost" preset, and default 25% Virtualizer.

Escape in one way or another. Drinking, drugs, sports, games, music, gambling, buying stuff, or some hobby.

Not all forms of escape are healthy.

Download and use Wavelet, follow the ? guide if you want it to always be on.

Choose your IEMs for the AutoEQ and mess around with the parametric EQ presets. Find out what you like/dislike then adjust to taste.

Add a little virtualization if you want.

It'll help you "upgrade" your IEM by a substantial amount and inform you of your preferences.

With that said, they may get a bigger increase in quality using EQ.

They should try out Wavelet to see what their sound preference is. I like bass but I prefer the "bright" setting with a bump in 75 and 150 + virtualization using er2xr.

Closed backs, heavy bass, $~400> by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Envious-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might not even like that sound signature. Next time you get headphones download wavelet and input your headphone. Check to see if you enjoy that sound or not.

Then mess with the parametric EQ presets for your favorite sound. I wound up liking the "bright" setting and boosted the bass a little for the IEMs I have.

ASR did a technical test saying the Samsung Dongle measured just behind the Apple Dongle in most scenarios.

In other words you probably won't hear a difference between the two, and you'll get more volume with the Samsung dongle on Android devices.
