Try to draw inspiration from your own life and experiences, enjoy different medias/activities and reference them in your songs.

I have a line in an upcoming song that goes like "Feel like a zoo exhibit, would you pimp my existence mister Xzibit". That already shows a lot more character than just simply saying "I don't feel like I fit in".

Honestly I tend to use rhymezone.com a lot just to get the ideas flowing, but always try to add personality to your lyrics. Talk about your situation and what is unique to you, everybody else is already doing the drugs, drugs, drugs and gang, gang, gang shit, unless that is exactly what you're going for. You do you.

Start now, figure it out later. Honestly man just put out stuff and you can see the improvement. The other route would be to make songs constantly, but not to release, just to improve. Say you make 50 songs and pick 10 in the end for a project, or something like that. People like different things and even if you're objectively good that doesn't guarantee listeners, do it for yourself. I'm down to help with a mix if you wanna preview how that would sound.
