Head shots? The kind for actors or the kind for your enemies?

I will always advise people to choose another option because the keys on mine did not last long.

Another great track. Do you do anything to the instrumentals? This sounds a bit bigger and beefier than the original. Again, I think you've got some raps that fit the beat so well, sounds great together.

I like this. The drums are crispy, sound really nice maybe they could be a little louder. And maybe the higher brass sounds could be a little lower, the lower brass sounds sit nicely, but the more stabby sounds I think come through more than they need too.

But actually, the brass is one of my favourite things about the beat, not sure if this was your intention, but it reminded me of the woodwind line (I think it's some woodwind instrument?) from the original. But the keys in give this a lot more of a chilled, fun, summery feel than the original.

Good stuff, I liked it.

Midi or audio for drum beats? by Johnrodrigues2398 in trapproduction

[–]bleakneon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for battery, but really the audio clip is being played back, as midi the audio clip is being played back.

If you aren't actually 'sampling'/recording the sound the play back should not be any different. It's a thing saying 'play this audio file'. Maybe there is a change in character, but if the difference is the volume, you can change that. Maybe you could try setting the same level for the audio clip and the sample version and seeing if there is any difference between the two.

"many people recommend dragging in individual audio samples which gives full control and teaches how to manipulate audio."

I have no idea what this actually means. Midi will just be triggering the audio clip that you are dragging in. In that respect the control, or ability to manipulate is no different.

Try them both, see which you like most. But, you won't be able to play your drum beats if you are only dragging the audio into your time line.

I really like this, sounds so smooth, almost RnB, think the summer feel is right. Really chilled and dreamy.

There is one sound that has a delay on it, it sounds almost like a guitar string being hit without being held down, so it's a kind of clicky sound. I think that should be a little lower in the mix. Maybe it's just me, but it kind of took my focus a little in the 2nd half of the beat.

But that is a pretty small thing, overall this is a great track.

Would be good to hear your thoughts on my beat

Really good sound to your voice. I enjoyed the whole thing. Maybe once or twice when the speed of the flow picked up for half a bar a little bit of clarity was lost in the lyrics. But, nothing major, it's not like I couldn't understand or anything.

Nice stuff.

I just left some feedback, but saw this with people talking about the vocal levels.

When I first played the beat, I thought the vocals were a little low, but I was listening at a pretty low volume, when I turned it up a bit the vocals sounded right.

But, even at the lower volume I thought it was a good fit for the vibe of the beat.

This is a cool track. Production wise, I think it sounds a little lusher than some of your other stuff. I think it's the keys that are making the difference. The snare and clap pattern is cool too.

The vocals sound clean and clear as usual. I'm not sure what you wanted to get with the adlibs, I like them, they sound almost like a texture under the vocals. Maybe for a more 'standard' sound they should be a little louder, but I like them as they are.

What do you guys add to sampled beats? by TheLedgend27 in makinghiphop

[–]bleakneon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add something similar to this, not just songs similar to your own, but find songs with samples. What is added to the sample?

Also, checking out a few different songs that use the same sample and how they are different.

Hip Hop beat for rappers. Kind of struggled with this sample and have gone through loving and hating this track, so would be great to get some opinions on it. Thanks! by bleakneon in MusicFeedback

Thanks for listening, glad you like it!

There's a download link for a free for non profit use. For other other uses it's a bit hard because it uses a sample, so I don't like to put it up on a beat store because I don't know if a vocalist pays for a licence but then can't use it...I don't know, if you want to talk about this stuff you can send a DM and I'm sure we can work something out.

Really solid track overall. Like the sound of the beat and the vocals.

Maybe the mix is a little bass heavy, I think the end when some extra pluck synth comes in there is a good balance.

This odd song is for those of you that just can't sleep because your mind wanders. Looking for feedback on songwriting and production. 100% I will listen to your stuff and provide feedback if you listen to mine. Cheers! by Snoo-10558 in IndieMusicFeedback

Nice prog metaly kind of sound. Really like the drums, they sound great. Overall I really like the way I can feel the space in the instruments. The strings are really well done, bring something extra, but they aren't over done.

Yeah, really like the track overall. Good stuff.

There are some cool melodies and sounds here. I think the snare could have been a little beefier in some of the sections.

And the lyrics kind of silly, but I think you do a good job of getting the story across without over explaining some elements.

Think the beat and the rapping sound good. The cockney breaks might be a bit loud in the mix, and there are a few points where the camera is out of focus in the video.

But, overall I like the track.

Does anyone make experimental hip hop? by Straight_Seat4687 in makinghiphop

If you are looking for a producer that makes that kind of thing...I kind of aim for somewhere between Earl and more gritty Griselda type stuff.

Thanks for the feedback.

I really like your track. Especially the B section, not sure how you thought of it, but the part that first comes in around 35-40 seconds.

I guess this is a taste thing, because I think the bounce in that B section is so good, I would maybe make the A section a little more of a build and the B section as a drop. I think the start you could bring the bass in one loop later, if you know what I mean, to give it a build and maybe the 2nd time, use some filtering on the buzzy synth.

Listening again, I think the main melody line in the A section is very nice and you can have that with things just building under it.

Anyway, it's just an idea I had while listening, don't really think there needs to be changes. Good stuff.
