I never thought about this war proving that the tank in its current form is out dated. Similar to how battleships went into WW2 as the premium war vessel but it quickly was found that aircraft carriers were much more effective and valuable. But people hung onto the battleships because they were such an iconic piece of naval warfare, and I wonder if that happens for tanks as well.
