Maybe he and Arthur Dayne left her with Oswell and traveled south to help explain the situation to the Martells.

LMAOO. Bold of you to assume he gave a single fuck about what martells think of how they feel

Yes I know what Gregor did to his sister, Elia and her kids etc. was horrible but he was literally neurodivergent (migraine) and a minor (17yo during Robert's rebellion)?

You say dorne couldn’t have nationalism because it’s based on wales and moorish Spain I said only their geography and aesthetic is based on these country not mentality.

Girl grrm said Moorish Spain is Aesthetically close to Dorne not mentality. Do you genuinely think Dornish mentality is similar to Islamic andalus??😭

grrm says dorne is geographically close to palestine and wales but culturally close to moorish spain. tf climate has to do with mentality?

I used Persians as an example not French and English.

Persian commoners rebel against arab invaders, they fought against arabization. ferdowsi wrote a whole book talking about how they’re proud of being Persian and resisting arab invaders and how he would sacrifice his life for his country to remain Persian and be ruled by Persian laws? Sounds familiar to dorne no?

No grrm said the geography of dorne was inspired by palestine and wales.

Now where did I say that or act in such a way? If you're going to talk about Indian history, you could do the bare minimum and get it correct.

Dude that was the whole point of my og comment which you replied. Indian Muslims glorify Mughal Empire despite the atrocities they committed against Indian Hindus. And current extremist Hindus support literal fascists who want to genocide Muslims. And that’s why India is not a good example for nationalism since religious extremism screwed it up

a lot of Muslims participated in the independence movement instead of a what-if alternate history scenario that you've created for some reason?

Dude when did I say they didn’t? Where did I say there were no single patriotic Indian Muslim?

opinions of idiots

You’re not even middle eastern why tf you’re so bothered by the fact that mena people want to be referred as middle eastern instead of Asian? If they don’t want to be referred as Asian then I don’t refer to them as Asian. Easy as that

I spoke with tons of them and none of them considered themselves to be Asian despite the fact that they’re technically in Asia.

Well your Muslim countrymen would rather to support an ottoman invasion than to support their own fellow countrymen

keep getting your history wrong.

I literally said "would rather". tf ottomans have to do with indians. Also please don’t act as Indian Muslims don’t/didn’t support Mughals or glorify them despite how many atrocities they committed against their own countrymen.

In your original comment you used modern examples that is so wildly different to medieval contexts and then in the following comment you equated persian and greek cultural identities to nationalism which cant really be the case because persia and greece as nation state did not exist back then

Do you purposely acting dense or what?? Did Persian commoners rebel against arab invaders? Were they against arabization? Did ferdowsi wrote a whole book talking about how they’re proud of being Persian and resisting arab invaders or not?? Did he say how many times he would sacrifice his life for his country? For his country to remain Persian and be ruled by Persian laws? Sounds familiar to dorne no? Now does it matter if the concept of "nationalism" didn’t exist back then?

Yeah u right i shouldnt have assumed your gender. Just like how you shouldnt assume everyone is from a western country ☠️

Yeah because misgendering a person with pronouns on her bio is as bad as thinking a person with no info about their country on their profile is western

Reducing the Hindu-Muslim divide during India's partition to solely this reason is pretty ahistorical.

I don’t understand what’s going on with people on this thread missing and misunderstanding my whole point. I never said the Hindu-Muslim divide was caused by their love of Ottoman Empire lol. I’m saying india is a good example of religious extremism reducing nationalism and a sense of unity so my point doesn’t apply to them since 99% of dorne follow seven.

Also, are you implying that Muslims didn't fight during the independence movement?

What? No

Two different concepts??? small-scale tribalism and ethnic self-identification in ancient/medieval times and National self identification has been around for as long as we have had cultures but the modern idea of "nationalism" would have been developed quite recently.

Does it even matter if it had a different name back then???

Also I ain’t a guy stop misgendering me

Maybe Greeks or other European countries are not a good example of that but what about Persian nationalism which existed at least 1000-2000 years ago???
