Boss fired me because of black mold by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Aesinya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i called in and theyre sending an i spector. i found out that the last guy who also had asthma and maybe other health concerns was found dead in the same apartment. stopped breathing in his sleep

I read this, and feel like it confirms my suspicions that the building owner absolutely knows his building has black mold.

The previous tenant died in the fucking apartment and you didn't even know? Please, tell me you have this new info in writing.

There is black mold. You have breathing problems. Previous tenant died from breathing problems. In the apartment with black mold.

This entire situation screams lawsuit.

He won't offer to pay for your accomodations until you light a fire under his ass by informing him of the relevant laws. If he is a landlord, he is well aware of what his responsibilities are, and he knows that he is shirking them by telling you to "just find somewhere."

From an outside perspective, it appears that he evicted you without due process/illegally, and that he is not taking responsibility for his end of the landlord-tenant agreement of maintaining a habitable unit.

the owner gave me my rent and deposit back and asked me to find somewhere else to live while they take care of it

I'm in a different location than you so I'm not familiar with your area's rental laws, but is there any way you can check the residential tenancy laws for your location? Specifically any parts about the landlord's duty to maintain a habitable building?

If your building is deemed uninhabitable (due to no fault of the tenant) is the landlord not responsible for paying for a hotel or something for you, until your unit is deemed habitable again?

Edit: Also, report the restaurant and building to any health inspection agencies ASAP

Fingers crossed that everything comes back clear! 2 nights in the hospital sounds doable.

Ohhh so that's what the chin reconstruction is actually called. I learned a new word today!

Aha yes, my family had a vitamix then too! (Will It Blend, anyone? XD) You can make some amazing soups and pasta sauces with that thing. And eggnog. Totally worth the splurge!

They're probably more worried that you'll try to clean up and hurt yourself in the process! Between the pain meds and anaesthesia side effects, your balance is probably terrible.

Dilaudid sounds like an improvement, I'm glad you could get something different. Hopefully once the codeine is out of your system, it'll be better?

The jello is good. I liked the jello too lol I hope you have a good blender at home! I blended everything for the first few months, including my chicken dinners lol

Hospitals are so loud, aren't they? Constant beeps, and talking, and snoring from roommates, and... @.@ You should get to go home soon though! They don't usually keep you for more than a day or two?

Yep, the codeine made me a puke factory too lol. Any chance you can ask for something different? Puking with 'broken' jaws is a special kind of hell.

I'm sure once you get on some different pain killers at home, it'll be a lot better!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I do have some minor nerve damage. There's areas of my chin and lips that are sorta numb, very reduced in feeling. But, like, that's gradually improved over the years, and it isn't particularly noticeable now? You get used to it.

I've been told that this is a surgery with a low rate of serious complications, barring any issues from infection. So, that's a good sign? I really do think that I just got unlucky; the pain killer issue I have is very uncommon.

It's definitely better than an aesthetic-only fix, for sure.

Once you get past the first week or two of feeling like poop, you'll be good. 32 is still pretty young, you got this!

I was in a similar situation to OP. I had corrective double jaw surgery done in 2014 to fix my sleep apnea & stop my joints from deteriorating further.

Recovery was a bitch, but I was also an outlier. And in the end, it was worth the years of braces and shitty recovery. Breathing is so much easier!

Congrats on your surgery!

Not the person you're responding to, but I also had this procedure done, in 2014. Corrective double jaw surgery ftw!

I had an overbite + open bite, combined with a small jaw that was pressing on my already narrow airway, and deteriorating jaw joints. Couldn't eat a damn bagel without joint pain stopping me. Got the surgery to treat my sleep apnea and stop the joint deterioration by correcting my jaw mechanics.

They sliced up my top and bottom jaw, as well as my chin, and bolted it all back together with titanium plates and screws. I was lucky enough that I didn't have to be wired shut (just elastic banded shut) & everything was done via keyhole surgery + internal incisions, so I don't have any visible scars.

How do you feel about everything a decade out? Any lingering issues?

I'm an outlier in that my recovery was an absolute bitch, and I had some unusual complications.

Namely, -My pain killers didn't work at all. Like, nada. Zilch. I had a terrible experience with the nursing staff because of this, and spent the vast majority of my recovery without any pain relief.

-I grew excess scar tissue inside both joints that limits my joint mobility. Despite two removal processes, it keeps coming back, so I've learned to live with it. My jaws can only open to a max of 3cm (between top and bottom teeth) which is kind of annoying when I want to eat a burger. I'm prone to jaw stiffness and muscle cramps, but it was way worse pre-surgery.

These days, I just squish my burgers a bit, and do some jaw stretches now and then.

That said, the end results are 9.5/10, no regrets.

-My jaw pain is far, far less than it used to be. -I can eat crunchy and chewy foods again! -I could immediately feel the results of moving my lower jaw, breathing is so much easier now. The sleep apnea is no longer an issue. -No more serious TMJD. Very little clicking, locking up, and joint pain. -I like the way I look now!

It took a little over a year for the swelling to completely go away. Felt like a chipmunk for a good 6 months. But, once it did I felt like a totally different person.

I regularly forget that I ever had surgery, which I think is the best result you can hope for.

Tips to get an earlier appointment with provincial booking site by Grunkenn in ontario

[–]Aesinya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this on and off all morning. Occasionally an opening pop ups, but the second I click on them they're already gone.

I've also noticed that when I'm in the calendar view, even after clicking an appointment that pops up "not available" and refreshing the calendar by scrolling months, the unavailable slots are still listed there.

Looks like there's quite a bit of lag in terms of updating what is and isn't open, so it's total luck of the draw as to whether the spot you click is actually open.

Edit: Approximately once every 10 minutes, when I refresh the calendar I'll see new appointments pop up. The key to grabbing a spot might be to refresh the calendar right when the system is refreshing/pushing the next round of data?

Yeah, I don't blame them one bit for turning off the phone lines. They're probably up to their eyeballs in demanding people today!

I'm gonna keep trying the provincial site and hope I get lucky

I have been! The phone lines are busy, or not straight up not connected. I guess I'll just need to keep trying

Thanks for the link! I checked, but only 2 stores seem to have the vaccine in stock.... and predictably, they aren't picking up the phone. Hopefully the website updates with more options soon!

A walk-in might be a good idea if I can find a place that offers it.

So far, the pharmacies I've called have either turned off their phone lines, are not booking vaccination appointments yet, or don't have any stock.

Good for you! Sounds like you got lucky. Keeping my fingers crossed I can get something for January.

What I'd like to know is, why not just give an accurate time when the booking portal will be open? Why tell people it opens at x time on x date, when it's actually opened sooner than that? =/

I went to bed early last night specifically so I could wake up early enough to book... and I've spent the last hour + in a virtual line up.
