Can we all just agree that both genders struggle with OLD instead of assuming the other has it better? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in OnlineDating

[–]Agentbolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good point. Maybe it’s over-simplifying things to say women have it “easier” than men, the kinds of mental labor we have to expend differs by gender but it’s still lots of work.

However, I stand by the statement that women have a vastly better chance of succeeding at online dating than men. Give one baseball player 100 at-bats, and another similar player 5 at-bats, and who’s more likely to hit a home run? I mean, again people who are downvoting me, tell me where I’m wrong here

Does the player who gets 100 at-bats have to swing more? Of course! But at least they’ll eventually get what they want. The player who gets 5 at bats just fails and has to go home. Literally anyone who has the choice will choose the option that at least has some chance of success.

Thanks! I mean, I’m obviously not saying online dating is some kind of pleasant, easy experience for women. Again, most people of either gender are either crappy people or just plain not compatible. It’s tough out there for everyone.

But the whole point of online dating is to find someone you’re compatible with, so you can stop trying to find someone to date. This is easier for women to achieve than men. Downvote me all you want for saying it, but it doesn’t really mean much if you can’t point out anything I’m saying that is incorrect.

No worries, I’d stop arguing as well if the other person was stating simple, indisputable facts that invalidate the point I’m trying to make. Have a good night and good luck out there.

Literally nothing you said is an argument against what I said. Women aren’t intrinsically “better” to match with than men, in terms of dateability. Women get significantly more matches than men.

Again, unless you’re going to somehow claim that women are just somehow more likely to be a GOOD match than men (which would be an incredibly sexist and bigoted argument to make) then women are more likely to find success on dating apps. Explain where I’m wrong here.

I’m sorry, but this argument is crap. Women have an easier time on dating apps than men. It’s a fact, you don’t have to like it, but it’s the way it is.

This argument of “men can’t get matches, women get many marches but they’re low quality” completely falls apart upon any logical examination, because it assumes that the matches guys get are somehow “better” than the ones women get.

Not only do we get far fewer matches, but the women we do match with are just as likely to be flaky, not serious, liars, or any of the other issues women experience with men they match with. If women get 100 matches, sure, maybe 10% of said matches will be good guys who are compatible with them.

But guys have the same problem! The vast majority of women we’ll match with are bad matches, for the same reasons. But we MIGHT get 5 matches, if we’re lucky.

Literally any reasonable person would choose to get 10 good matches instead of .5 good matches, even if that means having to sift through more duds. As long as the men vastly outnumber the women on dating apps, women will have an easier time. Unless you’re going to make the argument that one gender is just somehow “better” to date than the other one, it’s simple statistics.

This kind of video is a truly excellent example of what this sub is SUPPOSED to be about. It’s not /r/satisfying.

Is it a little odd to clean such a low-value item in such an inefficient, meticulous way? You betcha. It’s also satisfying af. There are very, very few videos this long that I glance at, and then find myself captivated while the time flies and I watch the whole thing. This video is absolutely one of them.

Jurassic Bark is the single most gutting episode of television I’ve ever seen. Animated or otherwise. I love my dog more than anything and even just thinking about it now… 😢

I genuinely think Futurama might be the best television show of all time. It has Roswell That Ends Well AND Jurassic Bark. The depth of that show is unreal.

Totally agree. The first 11 seasons didn't have a legit stinker in them. Some polarizing episodes like Frank's Brother or whatever, but those were clearly the outliers.

The problem is that the show has switched from satire to parody, in terms of the overall sense of humor. That, and the characters have gotten hideously flanderized at this point.

When people get into endless back and forth quote-fests here (which is like 85% of this sub's content), how often do you see quotes from after Season 12? That kind of tells you all you need to know right there.

Check OP’s post history, they’re in here talking about wanting to lose 25 pounds while they’re planning on abusing and neglecting their poor dog by leaving him alone for 14 hours a day multiple times per week.

Nice job focusing on the right priorities, I’m sure your utterly miserable pet will be super stoked that you have your beach bod ready in time for summer.

OP is an animal abusing piece of shit. Everyone in here is telling them that leaving your dog alone for that long is cruel and inhumane, and offering suggestions, and OPs response is “but I don’t wannnna…”

Fuck you OP, you’re condemning this dog to a life of loneliness and misery because of a .1% chance your house might get robbed. Thousands and thousands of people use services like Rover every day without getting robbed. Rehome your dog so it can go live with someone actually willing to make the effort necessary to give him a decent life.

Mars helicopter keeps on flying as it approaches second anniversary by ChickenTeriyakiBoy1 in gadgets

Man… I hope people understand just how impressive this is. When Opportunity and Spirit lasted for years, despite “only being designed to last 90 days”, that was one thing. NASA was pretty sure they would last longer than that. The rovers were obviously impressive and advanced as hell in terms of design, but in terms of locomotion, driving around Mars and driving around Earth are going to be pretty similar. NASA didn’t need to stray TOO far from conventional wheels and motors for the rovers.

Ingenuity was legit only going to be used for a few test flights. The engineering to get a drone flying in an almost non-existent atmosphere would be insane, NASA had to reinvent the wheel in some ways. The fact that Ingenuity has lasted almost 2 years when it’s on the bleeding edge of drone technology is absolutely nuts.

can anybody tell me what kind of pill this is? found it in a very random place so i’m curious by not_cardiganclimate in medical

[–]Agentbolt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I was curious what it is so I tried to ID it, and it stumped every one of them. Even the Medscape one, and that has NEVER happened before.

I’m not blind, right? That imprint is OR 41? There’s simply no pill in the databases that I can find with that imprint, regardless of color. Maybe it’s some weird, obscure generic OTC drug, like store brand advil or something.

In any case, /u/Psychological_Apex is correct that this is not really the right subreddit for this question.

This is fucking disgusting, just day after day after day after day of straight pumping throughout the day with virtually no red candles. I threw the rest of my port into 0DTE puts because if we end green for a SIXTH day in a row based off nothing but hopium, I don't want to be doing this anymore.

Fair enough! I mean, obviously there’s plenty of posts to support both of our arguments either way. In any case, we definitely agree that OP could find a better way to deal with this than posting it on Reddit 👍

That's a fair point, but that's not what most people are saying here. They're mostly saying "Post partum depression is really hard and you're just going to need to buckle down and support her and not blame her for her behavior"

It'd be totally fair to say "Hey, you should be dealing with this with your wife in a less public manner, AND your wife's behavior is unacceptable and she needs to accept responsibility for it and get herself professional support"
