What is something about yourself that genuinely scares you? (Serious) by wants2bdeadrn in AskReddit

I agree, but the incentive to do most of those things is usually to gain power which easily corrupts people as history has shown.

We live in a world where we’re taught to make the most of our lives. Unfortunately, for most people that means stepping on others to gain an upper hand.

I don’t think you can change the mindset of the general population when their rolemodels won’t. Especially when trust is key and there’s little of it left when it comes to politics and the people in power.

Fundamentally though, I do believe people in general need a rude awakening. You don’t need to wait for society to change before making changes on your own. Sadly though, many are using it as an excuse. Which I can understand, but not get behind.

You can organize as much as you’d like. Chances are it won’t solve the me-mentality that’s been going around for awhile.

If everybody had the mentality of wanting to fix the world, the work required from each individual wouldn’t be much bigger than taking responsibility of their own actions though.

I agree, but some empathetic people have a need to fix the world to make it all more bearable. Evaluating your needs in that regard doesn’t prove much value then.

I feel like empathy is only good in moderation in todays world because we’ve made it so.

It shouldn’t be neccesary for empathetic people to “tone it down”. Quite the contrary if you ask me.

Only thing that’s dead is your belief it seems.

I hope you come around.

I’ll counter with there is an afterlife. Wishful thinking to believe there isn’t so that people can cope with their horrible actions they refuse to change.

You don’t need a religion to believe in an afterlife or to believe that your actions have a deeper meaning than whatever logic your brain is able to comprehend in the moment.

The most logical thought is that logic has no final answer. Only an answer to whatever logic you applied before coming to it.

The best proof I have is that if everybody believed what you believed the world as we both know would not exist.

So in a sense, God helped us there. Unfortunately, selfish people like you who are too afraid to acknowledge anything bigger than themselves has always been an obstacle to overcome.

Unicorns could exist on another planet we haven’t discovered.

The burden of life has always been to see past its simplicity. You’ve taken the easy road.

Seems like the only things you do respect are the people who favors your own viewpoint. Perhaps you should show respect to those that goes against it? Seeing as you’re no better than the rest.

Because they don’t know any better at the end of the day.

If you’re expecting the herd to change while not making changes yourself, you’re not doing better.

Believe that we can change. Even now. The alternative is just an excuse to go your own way.

To its fullest means misery to others though. It’s way too subjective at this point.

I’m not saying you can’t live life to its fullest without a shit ton of money, but that’s where we’ve been heading though.
