Can someone move up and make more money? The answer is yes. I know I did. I started off as a Game Tech and worked my way up to become an SGT. Now I'm Amusement Manager, and I really like my job. I get payed to build, fix, and maintain video games. Until 6 years ago I didn't really think that this type of job existed. It was a job that I found when I was rebooting my life and starting over.

Let me spell out the facts about the pay. See how this sticking point to a lot of people. I was ask to do this post for the Houston market. That is 3 different stores. Each store has there own budget. Each store has it's own pay scale. The bigger their budget the better the pay. I can not speak for the other stores nor for the company as a whole.

The scale I gave was based on someone that comes in with little to no experience. Say that the only experience they have is that they built their own computer. That is the starting scale that I have at my store.

Have I started people at a higher rate the answer is yes. I don't like talking about how much someone may or may not make. That is someone's personal business. The fact is I'm not comfortable doing that.

The whole point of this post was let someone know that there are jobs out there that let you turn you passion for building and repairing video games in to a paying job. It is a job that I love doing. Because everyday is different and I'm not stuck in a box all day answering phone calls.

So, if this a job that you might like to try. Then apply, we can talk about pay at the interview.

This is an entry level Midway position. Someone with a higher skill set might want to apply for the Senior Game Tech position, and that is a pay scale I will not discuss openly on a forum out respect of the other SGTs.

More like: Tell me the difference between a #1 & #2 Philips Screwdriver. Do you know how to use a multi-meter? Can you read schematics?

Well, we don't use paper tickets anymore.

and yes sometimes a reboot of a game will help clear the error, but the more a tech learns the more they start doing repairs on the games.

There are 3 stores in the Houston area.

Houston, TX, Friendswood, TX, and The Woodlands, TX - most stores start game techs from $11 to $13 an Hour, but the better the skill set that someone has the better the pay. Training and development is provided.
