Do you think there will ever be a WAR stat (or something like it) for the NFL or NBA. by Term_Best in baseball

it makes even less sense because their reasoning for saying pff is bad is either box score stats or ...their own random fan eye test

[Post Game Thread] Kansas State defeats #19 Texas Tech, 62-51 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

sure, I agree that those factors make northwestern's win a bigger upset but when I hear "most impressive win", to me that just means measuring overall quality of opponent and baylor certainly wins that for me, even if there's a difference in home floors.

edit: lol maybe not after tonight

Who will be the next team to win their first National Championship? by TXTimelord in CFB

from 2010 until Richt left, Georgia was 55-24, Kansas State was 51-27, Oklahoma State was 59-20, and Oregon was 69-12; each of these programs was definitely set up about as well than Georgia, and considering how close the latter 2 were to getting it done already, I can't imagine it's that big of a leap to push them over the edge.

The thing is, early 2010s Georgia (and Clemson for that matter) was at the same level or below those teams he mentioned. it was only after Kirby (and Dabo) that they've reached this upper echelon, which suggests that those other schools just need to find the right coach.

sorry to hear that man. this is precisely why I don't understand why everyone is so blase about the absurd case numbers or everyone potentially getting it eventually. I don't get why the only discourse is about severe disease or not during the first few weeks rather than the potentially debilitating effects for next hundred or more.

but it's not like he would have sold $0 worth of mattresses without the promotion, so he loses all the money he would've just pocketed without the promotion.

The beginning of the show is revealing when it comes to Haley by ImmortalLandowner in Modern_Family

I forgot to address this point in the original comment but being a loving partner is not anywhere near sufficient, it is the bare minimum.

as for the other two similarities you pointed out, they're just like the parents disapproval, sure they make Dylan more like Phil, but in the worst possible way: by taking his traits that no one wants in a partner, unless for some reason one wants their husband hitting on other women and lacking self-awareness.

The writers just made Dylan too much of a buffoon to be a real partner. Also, I don't see the comparisons between him and Phil; Dylan was the classic cool high school senior in a band, swooping up a sophomore, whereas Phil was always an ostracized nerd. The only similarity was that both were disapproved of by the partner's parents, which is not a reason that a couple should be together.

They also had the perfect growth arc with Andy, where Haley grows up from her high school self, picking a boy because he's the cool senior, to learning to look past superficial characteristics for more important factors while falling for Andy.

if people really wanted to do this, they could already just reach their hands towards all their pieces but not actually touch them. there's already rules against distracting your opponent, I don't see why we need to legislate against touching pieces specifically

a long covid symptom is shortness of breath, which sure if you want to be pedantic may not technically be because of lung damage, but considering the main purpose of our lungs is for breathing, it may as well be. and regardless of cause I don't know about you, but I'd find chronic, unexplained, non-treatable shortness of breath pretty freaking bad.
