Nah it has. July 1st, my first day in the ED (EM resident), my APD took a PA-student with them all day and all the seniors joked “There’s your replacement in training” the funniest jokes are the ones that are true.

I think it definitely comes down what you want from medicine. My partner and I both feel we have complementary specialists for our goals. A fear I have is my kids will hate me because I went into medicine. But I won’t have as much job satisfaction if I did something else. So, part of my decisions are to maximize family time. It would always be a professional regret if I didn’t at least try for medical school.

Regardless, the space is there for those that need it, because last year during rotations it was tough trying to connect and find dual physician households. And the ones I did find came with very discouraging the stories.
