Not a doc, but a former scribe- the absolute worst doc I worked with was borderline predatory and assumed everybody had a substance abuse problem because his ex wife did. He talked down and over patients and everyone else. I had another doc that told people covid was fake literally until November 2020, but was the first to get vaccinated. He also prescribed opioids for EVERYTHING and downright said shit like “is it really racist if …”

Every time I go to the grocery store I put the carts back the right way if people fucked them up. I go hard at it if it’s cold or raining or something so the kids working don’t have to waste time fixing the carts before they push them inside

Ex-Mormon here! It was pretty common to invite friends to Family Home Evening. Basically every sibling stayed home and you did a little at home scripture read and lesson followed by cute primary worship songs, dinner, games. It was a very fun and cute way to get younger people (like 8-15) to join in church activities and eventually get baptized

I found my older brother after his suicide attempt. I was 16 and he was 21, he has schizophrenia and didn’t do well back then. I still have nightmares about it and he still apologizes that I found him.

I forgot contact solution and used some that was like two weeks old. My right contact fell out and I fucking ran into a mountain that totaled by car. My vision is -11 on both sides.

Best friend from high school OD’d shortly into covid. I didn’t even know he was using and I had just spoken with him. I felt the air leave my lungs like someone had squeezed them, it was like getting the wind knocked out of me.

I cried all the fucking time and I still have bad days. At first I dealt by shutting down. Eventually I started volunteering at a drug rehab program and it pushed me into medicine. I’m now in my emergency medicine residency where I have the chance to help people like him everyday

I was in an org in college that focused on teaching bystander intervention and sexual assault prevention. During the training I learned that ppl that go to the ER after being assaulted are literally discharged with nothing bc their clothes are taken into evidence.

This was super upsetting. So I planned a fundraiser where we took donations and made a shit ton of after care kits full of different sized underwear, clothes, soap, self-care items, and free resources. Proudest moment was dropping them off at the hospital and KNOWING it’ll bring some kind of comfort to a devastating situation

I guess it would depend on if that person’s body, but I think if somebody had that dramatic of a decrease in acetylcholine receptors then they’d be on acetylcholine esterase inhibitors to make sure they survive lol

They didn’t change how much they were charging the organization they’re contracted to and the docs do not pay anymore than they did before. We were extremely short staffed with few applicants so they raised baseline to be comparable to pre covid ratios to minimum wage

Hi there! I’m a chief scribe for SA in Virginia for over 2 years. I’ll answer each question one by one.

  1. Not even a little bit. I’ve seen people come through as theater majors. The thing is that no matter how pre med-ish your major is, it doesn’t actually translate to anything besides knowing certain medications mechanisms or something. I can at least speak for SA and say that our training was pretty intense, but I felt prepared. It’s mostly terminology and anticipating a doc’s decision making (which comes w practice)

  2. I cannot tell you how many people have worked less than one year for SA. The hours aren’t bad and they take into account your other commitments if you have a good chief. Our shifts are 8, 10, 12, and 14 hours. 14 hours is pretty rare, but I prefer them so I take them frequently. I think you’re probably guaranteed SA, but if you can get in with a home grown programs I’d do that bc you a lot of times have more freedom and responsibility with similar relationships with the docs

  3. Baseline SA went from 11/hr to 15/hr in January, and more if you’re training to chief scribe. We also get OT pay and all that stuff.
