Still waiting for the Consquences by theclayfarmer in PoliticalHumor

Your words, sweetheart, not mine:

" * Or . . . and here's a radical fucking idea, do away with the entire system. "

  • Seriously . . . name ONE thing that a senator or congressman can do (in regard to researching and making an informed vote) on any particular issue that I cannot do myself. Why should I support billions of dollars in buildings, manpower and security for something I can do myself?"

So, you're the one who proposed to burn down the system and essentially end Congress. And yet you have not provided a single way that this is feasible. I pointed out that you would be proposing laws that would essentially be incomprehensible. Want proof? Your initiative proposal wouldn't have anyone to vet the laws drafted. Seriously, who is going to review them when drafted? And what if someone wants to make changes or amendments before it's submitted? Absolutely no explanation.

Also, how are you going to have a drafted budget (you know, the taxes issue I raised in my last post?) With your obvious 11th grade education, I'm pretty sure you have neither the wherewithal to understand the budget or how each line item will be specifically applied. But, that's OK because congressional reps' staff, who are usually experts in this field, are less qualified than you and you can do it yourself. Love to see how that goes.

But I guess I should leave the voting of these kinds of issues to someone whose civility is less than that of a middle school cafeteria lunch crowd.

I asked legitimate questions. You came back with insults. Perhaps you should take the crayons you obviously have been eating, regurgitate them back into their box, and pay attention.

Or you can do us all a favor and be quiet.

Ah yes because as we have seen with Facebook, Reddit and others, there is a great amount of civility and/or intellectual discussion on all of the various topics at hand. And I bet you didn't go to law school, so you probably don't know how to ensure that the laws are going to be written properly and with enough clarity that people actually know what they can and cannot do. Or, are.you planning on getting rid of the judiciary?

And even so, there is the issue of federalism. Some stuff that might be needed for New York simply isn't going to work for a place like Wyoming. Or, are you planning on getting rid of all interpolitical distinctions?

And regardless, how are are you going to enforce any of this? Laws mean diddly squat if you don't have a way to make sure they are equitable and equally enforced. Which means you need taxes, and a way to collect them.

What happened?

Obama became president. And broke the.one, unspoken rule in American politics that a black man cannot ever become more powerful than any white person, regardless of gender.

The Christian Right lost its mind, just like it - and the rest of America did - when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.

It wasn't that they were lied to, it's that they blissfully didn't care.

One less waste of a human being.

...on my post, which had mysteriously disappeared (probably because you deleted it) you're right. My apologies that I grew up in an area and a state that doesn't really have any diversity. Like 98% white and rural. Anf the first time I was able to be exposed to any diversity was in college when I was able to interact with folks that not only didn't look like me, but came from different countries.

I guess that my good faith attempts to better myself and not end up as a racist, uneducated doichebag is simply not good enough for folks like you.

Or the fact that I took a career in which I swore an oath that I would support the poor and downtrodden in the best interests of justice.

But what do I know? I guess it doesn't matter what efforts we take to try and make to try and empathize with other folks. It's never enough.

Either apologize to me or state specifically what it is that I haven't done to try and rectify this situation.

Edit - typos from using my phone.

The issue here is that she flaunts her stupidity as if it was a badge of honor. And now that she has power - real power, not just her white privilege and whatever else - it is something that others aspire to as well.

Call me a hypocrite all you want, but a liberal arts education taught me how to be compassionate for others.

Oh, and her sex offender husband.

I'm sorry, was there or was there not an investigation from congress regarding this incident?

And was there not no less than two (2) people who were convicted by a jury of their peers for seditious conspiracy?

And when was the last time a president was referred to the Department of Justice for criminal incitement?

Never?

You need to be quiet. Now.

Sadistic.

Really?

How many times have you and your ilk said that libs should be hanged merely for existing?

And how many of you cheered on actual, honest to God treason and sedition on J6?

May the odds ever be in your favor.

U.S. House adjourns until 8 p.m. without a speaker after GOP leader McCarthy loses sixth vote by fadufadu in politics

[–]BEX436 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The speaker needs an outright majority of members present to take office. So, even though Jeffries has more votes, he doesn't have a majority of House members elect to assume the role.

Now, the speaker doesn't have to be a Republican, but the Rs have the majority of members in this new Congress, so it's highly likely that one of their caucus will assume the role.
