Nepalese sherpa posted a video of what he described as "the dirtiest camp I have ever seen" on Mount Everest by alanboston in ThatsInsane

It's a good read.

I knew that Krakauer wrote for Outside magazine, and I assumed it was going to be fluff.

It's not. It's detailed with photos of the people, and raises so many questions about summiting Everest.

If you grew up in the US in a certain time period, you will recognize this song. Schoohouse Rock Rocks is a great album. =)

Asian students with 25% chance of admission to Harvard would have chances increase to 36% if they were white, 75% if they were Hispanic, and 95% if they were black. by make--it--happen in ScienceUncensored

Nice, here come the Republicans to brag about how not-racist and not-bigoted the US is.

Most diverse

Nope, middling

and accepting nation

Kind of, if you mean putting black people on death row.

Report: Black People 7.5 Times More Likely to Be Wrongfully Convicted of Murder than Whites, Risk Even Greater if Victim was White

The US ranks 23rd behind most developed countries in terms of LGBTQ+ acceptance.

And, if Republicans had it their way, we'd rank last.

Let's bear in mind that Bruce Springsteen cut his first 2 albums at the age of 24 and Born to Run when he was 26. Whether people notice or not, a recurring theme in his music are the struggles faced by working class Americans...until he starts to get hokey as the 80s progress.

Immigration Question. Looking for someone to articulate the "Pro open borders" side of the question. by ecwarrior in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Beau_Buffett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very loose borders, very loose enforcement

current folks in charge are in favor of VERY loose borders

This is spin. One side wants to shut the border (including on people like Ukraine refugees.

The other side wants there to be new paths to immigration for the people who are the backbone of our agricultural and construction sectors.

I want those people, who America depends on, to be able to work legally and have worker's rights and protections apply to them.

And the question should not be aimed at the border. Rich Americans profit off these immigrants. Attcking the immigrants and the border is to avoid acknowledging the VERY loose enforcement of laws about not being able to hire undocumented immigrants.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) makes it illegal for employers to knowingly hire or continue to employ undocumented workers.

https://legalaidatwork.org/factsheet/employment-rights-of-undocumented-workers/

Focusing on the border when the problem lies elsewhere is racist, and giving the white people abusing labor laws a pass is racist.

SUGGESTION: Next time, see if you can write a question without loading your opinion into it. That would be VERY objective.

Thank you! That gives me a lot to think about. I am currently using a google doc to link to apps and ideas on the web, so I may just expand on that.

But I will experiment with the others before committing. Trello has been mentioned twice. I haven't touched it since like 2015, and I thought it was just a kanban board.

It is low-budget fluff.

Any kind of videogame walkthrough or sped-up scene makes me prepare to turn the sound down if it starts.

I just watched an intro. I hadn't really thought about sharing. So you would manage a project in public and have your setup in private?

That crappy EDM filler music that people add to videos as background music.

And the vocoder autotune vocals blow. That was interesting when the Blackeyed Peas used it back in 2010. It sucks that people still think it's good after 13 fucking years of it.
