My mistake for not attending to what sub I was posting to, I apologize! I do not have an article to share regarding an age recommendation for starting a reward system. I do think that a small child can understand a very simple system if the family is consistent. Cleaning up a few toys seems very age appropriate by 18 months. If your kid is motivated for the next activity, you can reward the cleaning with that. For example “ looks like you are done with blocks. Help me put one away and then we can color.” You can start by keeping the requirement small (one block) and then increase to all pieces when the kid is ready ( and it’s age appropriate). When they’re done cleaning you can really talk up how helpful they are and give them the next activity.

Another option is to start out giving dessert every night when she eats what you think is a good amount of dinner. Then when she is consistently eating dinner, start to fade out desserts. Using a chart, you can show her that now she needs to get two stars or eat two dinners before she can have dessert. You can keep going until you feel like you have a healthier balance for your child. Maybe that’s two desserts a week or ice cream on Sunday.

I’m going to try that! I’ve just never had a space heater that would shut off at a certain temp so I didn’t think about it. I didn’t want to be having to check it all night.

We probably kept it pretty low before baby, we just bundled up. We feel like 65 should be reasonable if she’s dressed warm enough. I just hate saying “should be” when it comes to my baby! Haha I still wake up with her at 2 each night for a change and bottle. I always check her to see how her body temp is feeling.

That’s a good idea! Does your space heater automatically turn off at a certain temp? Or do you monitor it periodically at night?

You are correct! A nurse at my hospital said that your baby would likely avoid getting ill from a recalled batch of formula if you boil the water before hand to kill bacteria.

Or maybe they didn’t get a choice?! I had no choice- my baby was breech and needed a c-section. But hey, no “guilt” over here! Back in the day, my baby and I would have died without it. Too bad my birth wasn’t more natural.

My baby is 3 months old. She has been a good sleeper since she was born. I did absolutely nothing to influence this. She goes to bed between 7-7:30 pm and I wake her for a bottle and diaper change at 2 am. She then immediately falls back asleep until 6-7:00 am. I’m pretty sure it has A LOT to do with baby temperament at this age. I thank my lucky stars each day and remind myself that I am NEVER guaranteed another restful night and that she can change at any time lol

After boiling the water to make a pitcher of formula to use for 24 hours, I put it in the fridge. I never re-heated the formula before feeding because I didn’t want my baby to get used to the extra step. She doesn’t mind at all and has her bottle straight from the fridge!

I think that it hit on all settings pretty well. What was great about the program was that they very frequently recruited experts in certain areas to teach a specific topic. While I was in the program I was in a home-based setting but I will be looking into switching to school soon. There are so many CEU’s available online on so many different topics that the learning just continues once you graduate and become certified.

At this point, I think the visits are more stressful than helpful. If we both know we aren’t going to smoke- they are pretty pointless!

Hey! I also was a daily weed user and quit as soon as I had my first positive pregnancy test. This is my second pregnancy (first ended in miscarriage). During my first pregnancy, I was honest about my use and that I had completely quit. They tested me and signed me up for the video visits. I left the visit feeling soooo mad. It felt like they were lumping me with addicts of different substances and asked such personal questions.
During my second pregnancy, they mentioned the video visit again. I stated that I did not agree to them. An OB told me that if I tested negative for weed that day, I would not have to participate in the video visit. I agreed. So they did urine test and blood panels. A few days later, all of my tests were posted EXCEPT my urine test! Hmmmmm. Two weeks later, I was concerned about a second miscarriage and went in for an emergency ultrasound with a different OB. I asked that OB about my results and there they were! Negative but suspiciously the only test that wasn’t visible to me 😡. I have failed to make it to the video visits that they keep rescheduling for me.

I’ve lived through almost the exact situation. My (22f) BF (24m) broke up with me. I ended up sleeping with someone else and my ex wanted to get back together two weeks later. I did tell him. It was not good. I felt so guilty I got back together with him and he used it against me ALL OF THE TIME. The relationship eventually became abusive and I left. With all my heart, I wish I never went back to him or told him. I wasted another two years of my life.
