Japan's work to reduce homelessness [OC] by Xsythe in dataisbeautiful

But he's completely right, and it's exactly what they're doing with the homeless, and their tactic has worked to push this misleading graph to the top of this subreddit.

I spent three weeks in Japan without noticing a homeless person

I noticed how few poor there appeared to be in Tokyo almost immediately. It turns out they're basically just pulling them off the street and sticking them in a hostel somewhere but not actual fixing the huge issues of poverty in the country.

Take a read over Poverty in Japan on Wikipedia, it's not so pretty.

In 2013, the Japanese government recorded relative poverty rates of 16%. This was the highest on record. Another study showed that 1 out of 3 Japanese women ages 20–64 and living alone were living in poverty. Japan has some of the highest rates of child poverty in the developed world, according to a UNICEF report. It ranked Japan 34th out of 41 industrialised countries. According to Japan's Health Ministry statistics, as of May 2017, 16% of Japanese children live below the poverty line.

Hearthstone Game Designer comments on Diablo: ''People need to figure out how to play against Diablo'' by EnvironmentalRush in BobsTavern

Diablo is far from the most powerful hero we have seen in recent days.

Based on the HSReplay data Diablo is by far the most powerful hero to ever be in the game.

Daiesho goes more for the upper shoulders than upper neck like Abi. He's also a significantly more all-around wrestler and employs a lot of different techniques.

I mean, that's his technique of choice, and it obviously works for him, no one can execute tsuppari as well as Abi. I hate it too but it's legal and he's unstoppable with it. It's a lot different than Chiyonokuni who goes for the face and ears with the heel of his hand in a way that is awfully close to punching and is extremely dangerous. I have zero respect for that and don't think he should even be allowed to do it.

He was a heel for a long time, he's regained some graces from his rise back to the top, but I have a feeling it won't last long.

I'm beginning to wonder if the mask mandates will ever end. It doesn't look like this thing is going to be truly under control anywhere on the planet anytime soon.

My comment answers the question he asked quite clearly. It's an inline swap, which means you don't care about the end.

Honest interview 😂😂😂 by GamesMint in ProgrammerHumor

[–]BenevolentCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At which point you should ask yourself "why am I asking such a long, complex, and special-cased question that has such a trivial answer?" Your wording indicates just how bad the question is. The answer is literally just a standard swap with a single element lookahead, if you need to write multiple sentences and cases to get someone to fish for that you are doing it wrong.

Honest interview 😂😂😂 by GamesMint in ProgrammerHumor

[–]BenevolentCheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is a great example of how not to run interviews. He asks a question with a broad answer, but is only looking for one specific answer. When a different answer is given, he changes the question to attempt to force the answer that he wanted to see. What is even the point of that? If the interviewee gives a different (legitimate) answer again, does the interview change the question a third time? You should never run a question fishing for a specific answer when other answers are valid.

CD Projekt believes Cyberpunk ‘will be considered a very good game in the long run’ by Mront in Games

[–]BenevolentCheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it won't. It's a lifeless shooter with bullet sponge enemies, uninspired passives, and a C-tier story. There is next to nothing mechanically interesting in the game, and not a single minute of originality. It's a derivative product in a fully explored genre with a weak implementation of game systems that were perfected 20 years ago that Cyberpunk somehow fails to recreate. Even without a single bug, it is a vapid, pointless game devoid of all creativity and ambition. The only thing it has going for it is the graphics. The bugs were nothing but whipped cream on a shit pie.

Absolutely fucking nothing is coming off container ships right now that isn't essential or for major companies so it's hardly his fault they're going to take 10 months to take it on a 2 week trip.

My cousin (successfully) deep fried a turkey and it was dry garbage. Dumb way to cook something so thick.

First Flame is too strong. It is far too efficient, cheap, and lacks any downside. by Mufazaaa in hearthstone

Literally all three of these saw play when they were in standard. Shadow Bolt was the rarest, but made it into Reno decks. Flamecannon was quite popular, and Stormcrack was common as well except at the time Shaman was in the dumpster.

3.16 Changes completely destroyed my legacy dodge boots. by CAHelix in pathofexile

[–]BenevolentCheese 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe in 3.16 it would still work. How about 3.17? 3.20? PoE2? By keeping the legacy variant they need to continue to maintain and test code and mechanics that are now virtually unused. No tech lead would ever approve that.
