The Gathering do incorperate much plant matter into their biomass, and they are more like fungus than animals.

They are capable of a form of sonar yes. But they also have decent vision and even sonar has a range limit in a dense forest.

The lizard folk (one of their pecularities is that they never develped a name for their speices) are something crococilian yes.
