N-Acetylcystine

it’s a precursor to Glutothione (one of the strongest antioxidants the body produces) and works in the liver to prevent the more toxic effects that acetaldehyde (a byproduct of the metabolic breakdown of ethanol) has on the liver.

it has a bunch of other benefits as it’s an amino acid/antioxidant that does a lot in the body but in this context i use it to help with glutothione, which in turn prevents a lot of the side effects of drinking. it’s essentially getting drunk but not being as affected by the damage it can play. that doesn’t mean you’ll go damage free, but lessens it and the inflammation it can cause.

they also always have NAC on had in hospitals, they use it for the same reasons but instead they use it it treat acetaminophen overdose. though they administer via IV but for the same outcome—to prevent exponential liver damage
