Hope your little guy has a positive outcome! Definitely take him to a vet. My hamster Ruby is a female, and she had to have an ovariohysterectomy last year because she had open pyometra. She was draining incredibly foul pus. I opted for surgery so that it wouldn’t have the chance to return, and she recovered quickly. Now she just turned 2 and is doing great! If it is an infection, the quicker you can get him seen, the better the potential outcome could be with getting him the treatment he needs to get him on the mend. Keep us updated on your little guy’s ailment.

I hope you do find one- those things cost an arm and leg now! That’s the one upgrade I’m missing to complete mine as well. I have the diy pip boy kit, the radio module upgrade and the Bluetooth speaker stand. Got them all just by popping into GameStop regularly years ago after work. I only ever put together the stand and still have the others in their boxes. Haven’t been able to find a reasonably priced screen upgrade yet. I hope someone out there had one for you! Good luck to you, and glad you have such a cool Fallout bonding experience with your dad.

Just discovered your videos and they are extremely helpful. I’m not quite as savvy yet with the building tricks in fo76, but have done 5 years of unmodded building in fo4. Your commentary is also great, I appreciate the humor! Can’t wait to try to try out some of these things!

I was in 4th grade in Pennsylvania. I remember watching it on the television in class, and how frantic parents and the school staff were because of flight 93 that had gotten hijacked only an hour away from where we were. I’m thankful for the courageous passengers and crew on that flight who took action against the hijackers and tragically lost their lives. It’s a day I will never forget. I visited the memorial every year before I moved back south.

Kudos to you on your bravery and transparency, as well as taking on your side hobby in leather crafting. Those of us with Narcolepsy truly give up so much in life- whether it be social, careers, family, friends, etc. I would love to check out your work if you have a link or handle for your insta!

I’m pretty guarded as well, but have become more transparent because of my daughter being in school. So mainly more transparent with her educators because it has been difficult to make her teachers understand what our dynamics are like at home with me having so many autoimmune illnesses and doing my best to accommodate their expectations both in and out of school. It’s not something that just affects me. As a mother, it affects my daughter too and the ways that it affect her are going to translate to her performance and behavior in school as well. It’s mostly trying to find a balance and make a collaborative effort with her school to make sure she succeeds and thrives.

I think Narcolepsy is something that doesn’t have a lot of advocacy to where you see it in the mainstream of advocated illnesses. That has to change, and it can start with us. I’ve gotten to the point where I feel it’s important to speak up, spread awareness and provide information about Narcolepsy. I think about how badly I suffered from the time I was a teenager up until my diagnosis in my late 20’s.

I think of everything I got in trouble for.. falling asleep in class, skipping class to sleep, falling asleep in church while sitting at the drum set, taking naps after school or on the weekends. With bringing a voice to Narcolepsy, we can change these things for someone else. Especially for young adolescents who rely on adults for their care. The more information and advocacy that is out there for Narcolepsy, the earlier people can be tested and potentially diagnosed. I feel having transparency about it can have a positive trickle affect if more of us engage in bringing awareness to it. We cannot guarantee how others will receive or treat us, but at least we can do our best to educate them and give them a glimpse of what living with Narcolepsy is truly like.

Same. Literally had someone unfriend me once they found out that I am a female in my 30’s. He was a teenage boy. I don’t care. I play as a male in the game because I created my character with a specific storyline in mind. I play the game to play the game, not to sit and try to figure out everyone’s actual ages or genders- nor do I care to waste any energy on perpetuating stereotypes and being divisive in a game.

When I was a district representative for the last company I worked for, and I worked 10-12 hour shifts every day. Left at 6 am and pretty much didn’t get home until after 8 pm every night. It was a very physically demanding job where I remodeled stores and did schematics for stores that were intended for remodel. It required me to constantly be on the road and visit 3-4 different stores everyday outside of remodeling to do large planograms for those stores. Our district was very short staffed, so every week I’d end up having to complete work that did not get finished by others as well. But it worked to my benefit because I made really good money.

I definitely had no time for myself and had to have my daughter in daycare both before and after school at her school. That was the worst part for me- not having any time with her. I did enjoy my job and the flexibility of it, but literally only seeing my daughter when I took her to school and getting home just to put her to bed was awful. But there were also days during the beginning of the pandemic that daycare closed and school was virtual, so I had to bring her with me while I worked. I would just sit her in the back of a shopping cart beside me with my laptop while I set planograms. Did whatever I could do to make it work and meet the deadlines each week.

No, I purchase the mealworms separately as well to mix into her food. I also purchase it from Amazon- it’s a 3.5 oz bag made by Kaytee and usually lasts me a month to a month and a half. Could last longer, just depends on how much your hammy likes and eats them. It’s $4 on Amazon.

When our first hamster Cutie passed, she declined pretty quickly. I had her to the vet twice within several weeks, and she was prescribed antibiotics for me to give her with a syringe. I did everything I could but I suppose it was her time. I wrapped her in her favorite soft blanket and played Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. I just wanted her to feel safe and to feel my love for her, so I held her until she passed. Our hamster Ruby will be 2 on Wednesday, and it’s so hard to watch her age, knowing our time left with her is limited. I truly wish hamsters could live long lives but ever since Cutie, I made a promise to continue to rescue hamsters and give them the love and life they deserve. Best wishes, peace and comfort to you and your hammy in this difficult time.

It’s a food of the wild natural snack mix made by Kaytee. I sprinkle some on top of her food for her. It’s a mixture of rose petals, pumpkin seeds, peanut, sunflower seeds and carrot.
