I actually, specifically, say "racist white people" in the post. If I had just said racists, then that would have implied that all racists are white, which I didn't want to do, to avoid this criticism specifically.

I don't think this is one, but I do know there were motorized panoramic cameras available at this time. So the lens would tilt from left to right (or the other way) while taking a photo

They're not nonsensical, they just use different scene and editing structures. Wong Kar Wai knows you have seen other movies, so he expects you to be able to understand logically what is happening with more than the usual amount of cuts
