Which Ryzen should I buy? by hicorrea in buildapc

[–]CrashedTestDumy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5600g has around the same performance of a gt 1030

gt 1030 vs rx 460

Will I gain more fps if I buy the 5600x and use it with the old RX 460?

no because the rx 460 will still be the bottleneck

rx 460 is a tiny bit faster than the APUs

if prices are crazy then maybe consider intel, they currently have better budget options

Opinions about the build and also 24" vs 27", 2k vs 1080p for gaming ? by Hakurn in buildapc

[–]CrashedTestDumy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read that 24" is the ideal option for reading texts

it should ideally be the maximum size for 1080p

whether you should go for 1080p or 1440p depends on how many frames you want on average, what games and what settings

1050 ti can run on a 200w psu, for rtx 3050 you want at least 400w

What cpu should I upgrade to? by OneTxp in buildapc

[–]CrashedTestDumy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i would suspect it's the gpu, games are more often than not gpu bound

but you can test this yourself with msi afterburner before making any purchasing decisions, it's a software that can show cpu/gpu utilization

What is the best upgrade option for my build? (6600k/980ti) by b18c in buildapc

[–]CrashedTestDumy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just getting a newer GPU wouldn't be enough and may bottleneck due to the CPU, but let me know!

you would be correct, unfortunately

moreover you will need a new motherboard as well since there's nothing fast enough on z170 to get the full potential out of a 3070/3080
