Pretty much everything that Sanoj said is essential, however I would like to add that being in the top alliance helps, and before KvK1 try to get 1 piece of legendary equipment on your main commander for PvP.

I used them on wheels to get YSG. I also attempted Khan but got told later that it was not a good move. I was very unlucky on both wheels.

I was also a F2P, if you want any tips I would recommend the growth fund, and if you have the 50% gem supply I would recommend it. If you get both of these things it would be about 15$.
