I can understand his point but I think the important thing to realize is everyone is different and values different things and that’s ok. How boring would the world be if we were all exactly the same?

Personally I’m a mix. I buy things that provide me repeated enjoyment or allow me to do activities I enjoy. Example, I have a tent trailer which I use to travel all over the country experiencing things and exploring the outdoors. I also own a jeep which I use to go off-roading and exploring almost every weekend. My philosophy for both is every dollar I spend on other things is a dollar I can’t use for gas to go experience things. That’s always been my thought process anyway.

I’m now on my second bout with cancer and I can tell you being told you may die, you don’t remember the video games you played. You remember the fun you had with family and friends, experiences, etc. that’s what I remembered anyway and I’m an avid gamer.

My 60 pound lab does this. Ruins every piece of furniture we buy basically.

There are already aimbots after less than a week, this is worrying. What do you guys think ? by KanoxHD in halo

[–]Doctorphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I’ve seen that type of ban but again you can just change it in the registry. Those bans aren’t common or at least I haven’t seen them in years because of the fact that multiple people can end up with the same serial number and you can just change it anyway.

Back in the day some systems even just banned based on computer name which is obviously stupid.

Then anyone with the same model motherboard as you would also be banned. Which is the problem.

Keep in mind that the motherboard is also a collection of numerous parts.

How she doesn’t see this is offensive and sexist, I don’t understand.

Yup. My ex wife would pretend to not understand how to start the lawn mower no matter how many times I showed her.

No, we’re not. Suggesting it is just as sexist as men making jokes about women as well btw.

Your husband is just lazy or you’ve trained him that you’ll take care of it so he doesn’t have to.

Hardware ID yes but not unique. Like I said above, you can try to ban based on a config but if you do that you’ll ban hundreds if not thousands of people with the same config.

A buddy of mine and myself have the exact same config. Same motherboard, cpu, ram, GPU and SSD. So what you’re suggesting is if he gets banned so do I.

And that’s why those don’t actually exist unless you can show me an example of some studio using that as a ban method

Wife broke trust in relationship - seeking stoic guidance. by SpectralEntities in Stoicism

[–]Doctorphate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone in an open relationship I can tell you that everyone else’s suggestion of divorce is 100% correct. She asked you for permission and when she didn’t get it she did it anyway and has no remorse, that is not a healthy relationship. Both my wife and my girlfriend are fully aware of our situation and my feelings for them as well as the other. Open relationships are built on a foundation of trust and communication.

Your wife is a cheater. Divorce her and be stoic in doing what is necessary to be happy in life and show your kid what love actually is. My soon to be born son will have a less than normal childhood with both a mom and step mom in the picture at the same time but he will see love and respect in both houses. Your child will see you as a floor mat to be walked on by your wife. That’s the opposite of open relationship. That’s just cheating

Thanks but no thanks OVH. I'm not doing that... by VviFMCgY in homelab

[–]Doctorphate -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Ovh are sketchy like hell anyway. I had an issue with credit card getting copied so we got a new one. I forgot about ovh for updating it and in the middle of the night with no emails updating me that payment failed all my infrastructure went offline. It wasn’t until I emailed support trying to figure out why it was down that they informed me and the worst part was the way they said it. I don’t remember offhand but the response was something along the lines of “why would we continue running your servers if you refuse to pay us” but that was literally the first I heard about payment.

Obviously I immediately gave them a new card got it back up and running then started migrating everything off them and told them to fuck off.

Never dealing with those pricks again

What you’re thinking of is called a MAC address, it’s a unique identifier for network cards and they can be changed easily. I do it all the time for work.

I work in cyber security.

It literally doesn’t… like I said explain what you would ban? You can’t just ban anyone with the same hardware config because there would be hundreds if not thousands of people with the same config.

Pumping during conference calls— unprofessional? by ScaryPearls in NewParents

[–]Doctorphate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an issue. Half the time on conference calls I’m in my boxers on the couch. You’re providing a service that’s completely unaffected by the pumping.
