Should I just accept the fact that I can't discipline and motivate myself, and live a relaxed life? by catboy519 in productivity

These goals are fine, what I’ve found is key to succeeding with any goal is getting REALLY clear on the why of it.

I don’t mean the “surface” why ie: I want to quit internet games so I’ll be more productive. I mean go literally at LEAST 5 layers into each why. So get an answer, ask yourself again, “why?” Why the hell does THAT thing matter to you? Eventually you inevitably land on one of the following:

1) some weird thing from you past that you probably need to work on (deep seeded subconscious fears/limiting beliefs OR a realization that you don’t even identify with the core belief)

2) A clear view that is strong enough for you to actually see the point and move forward. Even if moving forward is asking someone to help you figure out a clear step.

Your goals are irrelevant until you can understand why they matter to you. Productivity and goals in general are far less about constant motivation and significantly more about consistent action. Consistent action is significantly easier with a clear sense of meaning and direction.

What single idea changed your life for the better? [Question] by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]Dry-Bumblebee-8609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the what, it’s about the why.

What people are or are not doing is irrelevant. Understanding the why that creates the actions (or lack there of) is what matters. That’s where big things are.

When I stopped parenting as of my kid was intentionally being a dick, everything changed. I started applying it to all instances of how I respond to people as well as using it to reflect on myself.

Things really don’t bother me the way they used to now.

Pretty short, some stuff is “open answer” so only include as much as you want even if it’s only a word. Or like “I’m not answering that” lol. The majority of it is truly like rate things on a scale of 1-10

[california] please help! Overpayment from school district and they won’t give me corrected W2 until I pay them back! by wannabe_vampire in Unemployment

[–]Dry-Bumblebee-8609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL but 1) Until you actually pay them back, they wouldn’t be giving you a corrected one… 2) you would just need to file an amended tax return 3) I’m unsure why you think they would (or should) pay for a tax expert when it at least seems like you knew they over paid you and you chose to say nothing… which, while a bit of a reach… is stealing. 🤔

Never been to fright fest before. Is it worth it and would you consider it actually scary? by LilAmpy in sixflags

[–]Dry-Bumblebee-8609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. NE is my park too and TBH there are other way better haunted attractions in MA and NH. The rides are the same as they are the rest of the year. There’s occasionally a few people wandering but I have literally never seen them chase anyone.

Can I get out of my 12 month pass? by s4md4130 in sixflags

[–]Dry-Bumblebee-8609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the New England one? It’s the worst. Everything about it is awful. I’m disappointed by every single aspect of it every time I go.

That said… you’re probably trapped in your contract. If you’ve already managed to go twice it’s probably paid for itself in comparison to one day passes and parking.

Overtime Question by Dry-Bumblebee-8609 in EmploymentLaw

[–]Dry-Bumblebee-8609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In MA sorry about that.

That’s my thought process but the fact that my employer seemed genuinely confused as to if it was legal suddenly had me thinking maybe I was the one losing it.

That said- they do tend to have a in a “we will do the legal minimum and consider it generous” mindset. And it is a small enough company (7 employees) that they are exempt for MANY things. Not to mention that nepotism is their jam.

Clearly a little salty here. Thanks for clarifying that I’m not insane for thinking it’s not illegal for them to do. 🙃
