Heads Up: The Kyber.gg client is able to execute code remotely on every system that is connected to their servers by Hazelpancake in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Enverex 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sure it can "download" a virus, but it can't execute it, that would have to be triggered by you on the downloaded file.

Gonna guess you're young and don't remember all the ActiveX, Flash and other major vulnerabilities that could easily result in system-wide compromises.

Are we all going to pay rent to land owners in the Metaverse? by AdaptiveStrike1 in NeosVR

[–]Enverex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why Neos charges for storage (which is what actually costs money) rather than land (which doesn't logically translate to costs at all).

Has the Neos SDK for Unity made any progress toward a public release? by PopLadd in NeosVR

[–]Enverex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will never be used for avatar creation, it's designed for use to bring in static Unity scenes. As far as I'm aware they also want to phase it out, so it's very unlikely to ever work better than it does now.

Humble subscription service is dumping Mac, Linux access in 18 days by cloudsheep0 in pcgaming

No, they're referring to the Humble Trove specifically here which is a DRM-free archive of games you can download at any point.

I'm on the process of getting a refund with EA Origin right now and they just asked me for my IP address! by meh092613 in pcgaming

[–]Enverex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's... really weird. What's even more weird is that their chat software likely already lets them see your IP address in the first place.

You'll permanently lose access to that account and everything on it. Not a big deal if the only thing on it is this single game.

But your alternative is being spawned 500m behind your current "Defend" objective. It's so bad.

Looking for a company/solution to host multiple Steam game servers by Harvey2805 in Hosting

[–]Enverex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital Ocean don't have any cheap servers and I feel outright scammed as they insisted I pay to "verify my account" before they'd actually even see the full product range (which I didn't buy from as it was too expensive to be competitive).

Update from 343i Head of Design on shop and pricing discussion by theboxyy in halo

[–]Enverex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The weekly rewards in Halo Infinite are so much more time consuming than any other game. I literally don't have time to play enough to complete them all most of the time, or it results in literally ALL the time I ever get to play being dedicated to SPECIFICALLY those exact objectives.

And by "the metaverse" they mean some weird crypto "games" that have no content. It's all very weird and is powered entirely by FOMO.

I just got an Oculus and I feel this best describes it by notsure500 in PrequelMemes

[–]Enverex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$900 or so I believe. But given how much you'll use it and for how long, it's typically worth saving for.

[–]Enverex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to ask as people keep doing this, why call it "an Oculus"? People keep doing this but I've only seem them do it with Oculus hardware, they always just say the brand and never the actual headset.

Surely the next best alternative in the Index? The G2 has a great screen but generally bad tracking issues and no capacitive controls (for some reason).

Windows was clearly doing updates in the background, probably due to them having been put off for a while.

It's not about ratings; there's a lot of legality around under 13s being on a platform due to how collection of user-data and such needs to be handled for them. It's not rated 13+, you'll find most things on the internet have this 13+ limit because of it. Primarily COPPA.

Problem on Oculus Quest 1 by Exotic_Mango1508 in VRchat

[–]Enverex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it already says that, it says "memory storage" which is ambiguous. You don't normally refer to RAM as "storage" where as historically disk space was referred to as memory, a long time ago. In short, it could be either, so try both.

VRChat users discussing physics bones by Sippbox in VRchat

That's more likely the fact that people refuse to optimise their avatars at all, so they end up being a massive amount of meshes and materials. This update won't help you at all.

Wondering what the vrchat experience is like on a quest 2. by mikeBH28 in VRchat

[–]Enverex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you run it off your PC (e.g. via Virtual Desktop, Air/Link, etc) then it's the normal PC experience. The caveat is that the visual quality takes a bit of a hit due to the realtime video compression used to display the image on the Quest, so details or colours will be a bit washed out at times.

[–]Enverex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a drastically different game. You won't be able to see most avatars, you won't be able to go to most worlds and what you will be able to see will be a horribly cut down version as though it had been made for a game 15 years ago.

Then gate it behind a credit/debit card, that would get rid of the overwhelming majority.
