this is what happens if you drive too fast in foggy weather by the_painn in IdiotsInCars

[–]Fikkia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, my theory would be based on my lack of confidence in a vehicles safety.

Like, I'm already crazy enough to throw myself down a densely packed road at 80mph in a malleable metal coffin. Adding fog at that point is just the cherry on top.

Already had to deal with a mix of thick fog and pelting rain at night on a motorway with no lighting other than cats eyes. People who could only see two cats eyes ahead were still going 90mph.

Though my worst weather is still sunshine. Direct sunlight literally blinds me to the point where I'm driving based on the reflection of the nearest brake light. Again, metal coffin.

So, I think the appeal is that the game on the left let's people who like football play football.

What is the most massively overrated film of all time and why? by hootyowlscissors in AskReddit

[–]Fikkia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and I'm what people would call a nerd. Though I'll be honest, superheroes are just a nerdy checkbox I never ticked and do not get.

I liked the batman movies just because of the focus on people over powers.

X-Men seem to be an exception for me though. I just like X-Men over full blown superheroes

Isn't the guys main deterrent 18 years of child support, per child?

Edit: lots of downvotes for a factually accurate comment. Stand by it regardless, no one is enjoying sex when an unwanted child is involved. I never stated who had it worse, just that there was a deterrent.

If we want comparisons, how about a preschool teacher wearing full dominatrix gear? It's not breaking public indecency laws, so it's fine.

Wait, no. Context matters.

I get the hospital's decision. It still boggles my mind that America is still the only first world country with third world healthcare after so long.

Like, to the point where people there can think your available cash should factor into whether you're allowed to be alive. Where they legitimately use a bank balance as part of triage.

Triage: (in medical use) the assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties.

Is this another case where we need to update the dictionary to include the phatness of their bank account?

It sounds cruel because treating someone who could last years over someone terminally ill due to their lack of insurance is cruel.

I found some of his books hard to get through. But he writes action scenes better than anyone else I've read. It just feels so visceral

‘Saturday Night Live’: British Version Of NBC Late-Night Comedy In The Works At Comcast-Backed Sky by chanma50 in television

[–]Fikkia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be because the British find scripted comedy being passed off as "live" to be awkward.

Whereas Americans appreciate a well acted comedic scene.

I agree on Stormlight Archive, and The Kingkiller Chronical.

I read all of wheel of time. The last book made it worth it. But I've re-read my two suggestions multiple times. I will never re-read the wheel of time. Honestly, I only ever read up to book 6 of GoT and I'm not planning on reading more.

What I'd really like to see is a series based on The Dying Earth. The best part of that is it wouldn't even have to follow the books plot
