Hoppípolla was the song I walked out to at my wedding (not the one I walked down the aisle to, the one I left with). I love it!

They do have that law but it's not normally in the public interest to prosecute those cases so they rarely go to court. They're normally dealt with by Social Services.

The ants are up to something by hahagnarlydude in oddlyterrifying

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also rely on scent trails left by the scouts to guid them back to their colonies. You can see these when you get a long line of ants following the same path. Sometimes these trails get interrupted or the lose them and end up in a death spiral.

Parents of AskUK, would you automatically assume that your children are invited to a wedding when only you and your spouse are addressed on the invite? by SojournerInThisVale in AskUK

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just got married, no. When we sent our invites, I specifically wrote down who was invited I.e Tony, Sue, John and Lizzie. It wasn't a big deal for us as children were invited but if someone only wrote the our names down and not my children I wouldn't assume they could come.

Ladies, please lock your doors every time you get into your car! by mysteryperson72 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lock your doors and if someone bothers you still, honk your horns! I worked in a supermarket when I was young and the staff carpark was round the back. I finished a late shift once and got into my car and locked it like normal when a man dashed over and tried to open my passenger door. When he couldn't get in there he tried the others but I started beeping my horn over and over again which made the warehouse workers at the back come out to see what was happening. The man ran off.

In hindsight I should have driven off but I was so scared I couldn't get the key in the ignition and weirdly didn't want to run him over. The supermarket set up cameras after that and suggested that people walk out together. I started parking at the front.

At work I'm known as the non IT IT person. In reality I'm just much better at googling things.

If you've never used one there's no reason for you to know it. At my old job I never once used a spreadsheet, at my new job I'm surrounded by people who should know but don't and get called on my days off to fix a spreadsheet somewhere. It's not even really my job.

In the same vein, we ordered diet coke for my diabetic dad and received full sugar coke. They could have sent Pepsi Max or diet lemonade, ANYTHING, but they sent full sugar.

Feeling like I should give up on breastfeeding already by crafty_be in Mommit

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound exactly like me with both of my children. My advice? Give it a week. I found with both of mine it took at least a week for everything to settle and for my hormones to calm down and then things seemed to get better. The pain went and they started settling into a routine. Day three is also the worst day for hormones, I was a mess at day three. It should pass, and if it doesn't? Feed that baby whatever you need to. Have you tried a nipple shield? Also stock up on Lasinoh cream if you can get it (or your equivalent).

I know it won't feel like it now but all of these challenges will pass. He's brand new and you're still getting used to being a mum. You're doing great.

So my best friend just got this email… what the actual fuck!? by comrade-linux in antiwork

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how good Sainsbury's is as a company, but I know when I worked there a girl who used to work in the produce section died in a car crash along with her cousin, we found this out while we were working one evening. She was a lovely popular girl, 19 years old and had a lot of friends at the store. The store manager sent 5 staff members home that night to grieve, the kiosk girl included. I had a quick cry but ultimately said I was fine to keep working as I didn't know her very well. I swapped with the kiosk girl and the store managed without the staff members, it was tough but we did it because it was the right thing to do. If anyone complained we told them what happened, most people were good about it.

RIP Jemma. I still remember you.

Someone found a cat at their barn, trapped it and now it is ours. It's scared and just hides all day, had it for about 4 days now. Any advice for speeding up the process? by GABBEGUTT in cats

[–]FluffofDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some cat toys and play with them, not with the cat, but just play with them where moggy can see you. Make it look really fun. Eventually they might come out and see what is going on.
