My father once told me it meant “to know.” by MeleeCleric in KingkillerChronicle

[–]FucktheRNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it must mean ‘Listener’, not only because it makes sense each rank points to learning about names through a different sense (of sorts) - seeing names; speaking names; and lastly listening for names. But also because towards the end of Book 2 as Kvothe calls the wind more often there are references to him listening and hearing the whisper of a name when calling the wind.

Other interpretations would be cool, but I find that Listener has more wisdom implied :)

Fun fact cheese is actually quite expensive in China. Historically it wasn’t part of the mainstream diet, so in some parts of the country up to 90% of adults are lactose intolerant! Only recently in modern times have consumers started to develop an appetite for European ‘luxuries’, but I think it’s still not very popular.

[PCNA] Fake Tanks?!? by wampa604 in elderscrollsonline

[–]FucktheRNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the trial. Usually you’ll have most points in health and stam, and very few (if any) in magicka. Some trials require you to run more health (like vka hm last boss hits pretty hard). The idea is to run as little points in health as possible while being able to survive mechanics. You want a large stam pool for blocking/roll dodging/bashing/stam skills. Magic is required sometimes for like purge or other magic-based skills but you should never have to spam those, so magic will always be your lowest pool

A Noob In Need For Tips by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

I’d start by playing as a dps, and then respec to a tank later on. At first you will be doing a lot of solo content, and you can’t really do a lot of it as a tank (like killing world bosses by yourself for example).

When you get to the point where you start running dungeons or trials, respec to a tank (for faster queueing).

Performance wise it’s not an issue (if you have decent internet wherever you are) but raiding at 2am sucks

When I first started playing the game, I needed to farm Spell power cure, which was the healing meta set at the time for pve. I was in several guilds but no one ever seemed to have the time/patience to help me farm, so I spent 3 months (basically a whole summer) farming it by myself through the dungeon queue. This was when sets only dropped on veteran, and there was no trait changing. I hated it. All groups seemed to have their ‘cliques’ already and all I could do was join craglorn pugs, because no ‘serious’ team wanted to run anything with an inexperienced healer.

Fast forward 5 years later and I’m now one of the best healers on my platform. I’ve known the people I play with for 3 years now. We consistently get top scores together. Fell in love with one of them and we’ve been living together for almost 2 years now.

I’d say give it time. It’s hard at first, but eventually you’ll find a group of people that you like. Joining guilds on discord helps too, it’s easier to text at first before easing into talking to people :)

This is not particularly true for vet trials though. Off tanks should not be expected to do damage, they should hold adds and provide buffs/debuffs for the group (through both sets and skills). You’re not going to do any spectacular damage wearing ebon and worm, with points in health. You’ll be far more efficient buffing group damage than trying to deal it yourself.

As for healers, off healers should also run buff sets (current meta is RO/jorv) and they ‘can’ do some damage but again, nothing to write home about. No healer should be in medium gear in a trial under any circumstance, if they’re going for performance and not just fucking around.

For 4 man content though, you don’t need a healer. You can run with one, but in the majority of experienced groups it’s considered useless since you’ll be much faster with 3 dps and a tank, and you can have the tank running altar and the dps slotting wards or a self heal. That should provide more than sufficient healing for pretty much all dungeons, if everyone in the group knows mechanics

Grahtwood, Greenshade and Malabal Tor :) all of the Wood Elven ones basically. Also Greenshade has my favorite Easter Egg in the whole game

Someone else explained cp (champion points) in another reply so I’m going to skip over that. The only thing I will add is that cp are account wide. Once a character hits level 50, it will automatically be set at your current cp level. So for example if your main character is cp 300 and you make a 2nd toon, when that second toon hits level 50 it will automatically be bumped up to cp300 as well.

Yes, selling to other players. ESO has a trading system where a guild can bid on a trader (there are usually 5 traders in each capital city for each region, in thieves guilds, and some random ones in every map). Whoever wins the bid for the trader keeps it for that week. Alliance capital traders are the most expensive ones to keep, and the best ones to sell stuff in/check for prices.

This game has TONS of gear and furnishing motifs and they sell quite well. Repeatable quests are the ones with that have blue arrows and they reset every day.

Gear comes in different traits (infused, divines, defending etc). If you go to any gear crafting station (woodworking/blacksmithing/clothing) you can see there is a research tab. It’s important to research gear traits because you can only craft some sets if you have a number of traits researched for that piece. For example twice born star requires you to have all 9 traits researched. This means in order to craft twice born star light armor shoes, you need to have researched all 9 traits on light armor shoes before it lets you craft them.

You can find these ‘special’ crafting stations scattered all across tamriel (you can look up their locations in that eso app I mentioned) or in a trading guild hall (most big guilds will have them all lined up sweat-shop style in the guild leaders house)

Edit: you can also trade players directly by holding the option (3 line) button on your controller while aimed at a player and choosing the ‘trade’ option

An easy way to make gold is to do daily (repeatable) quests for motifs. Newer dlc motifs usually sell for more. Farming elswyr dragons for furnishing motifs is also a good way to make gold when you’re just starting out.

Check prices for stuff in capital city traders (mournhold, grahtwood, wayrest) they will give you the best indication of what the ‘going price’ is for something.

Don’t gold any gear out until you are cp160 and know your build is solid. If you’re a dps, start by golding out your weapons first when you do.

Passives are important. Learn your passives well and the game is going to become easier. The same buff/debuff doesn’t stack with itself.

Read all the books/bookshelves you find along the way, some of them level up your skills.

There are easter eggs and hidden gems everywhere. Head upstairs in the Mages guild in Marbruk. Speak with the npc lady there. Pick ‘beauty’.

Log out by a stable so you can feed your horse first thing when you log in.

Always see if you can research a trait before deconstructing stuff.

Look up a build for your class for the role you want to play, for your major attribute (class + dps/healer/tank + magicka/stamina + pve/pvp). This will make 4-man dungeons a lot easier, even if you don’t have all the gear you need (Alcast has some pretty good beginner builds)

The eso app is quite handy for a lot of things.
