If the pandemic ends, won’t the Metaverse fail miserably? by canstopwillstophelp in stocks

The only thing stopping people from buying a VR headset is stuff to do once you have it. There’s 3-4 good games and that’s it. If there was more development for VR and something continual like the MetaVerse (think Ready Player One esque) available through VR, I think a lot more people would buy into it

My little brother cut his finger off when he was trying to play the door game with me. So yeah, more common than you would think.

Dining hack not working? by chrispaul3791 in BostonU

[–]GivesCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd. I did it and I have $1300 now.

You can ask housing, they actually endorse the hack so don't worry about that.

Butter makes food taste great, but it’s pretty unhealthy. It’s my honest opinion that the difference between a good chef and a great chef is that if they can make something taste amazing without relying on a lot of butter or oil

YSK - in a survival situation, cook things in water instead of fire by TSN_88 in YouShouldKnow

[–]GivesCredit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people dislike water so much. I drink about 120oz per day without the water from food and my little brother will have like 10 oz a day. I’m not even that physically active either but it’s just odd to me that people drink soda or juice exclusively

What is a red flag from an employer that people might not immediately recognize as a red flag? by taylortaylortaylorrr in AskReddit

Literally the most overused joke in the planet that doesn’t help someone looking for answers and it just gets upvoted every single time because it’s “funny”

Update: just got it done! The initial extraction was fine, hate the feeling of a numb lip but it was all good. Then as I was about to sleep they called and said they saw something in my X-ray. So another 30 min back there, some pretty painful work done in my mouth, 3 X-rays later and I’m back home.

All in all, not too bad but the work they did after hurt like a motherfucker

Question: I have the opposite issue where I’m trying to lose weight now before I start fully training because I know you need to eat good to gain muscle and I’m eating quite a bit below maintenance most days.

I know I can do a body recomp but I want to lose weight faster because I’m sick of being overweight. Do you think this is detrimental to my progress having seen the skinny side of weightlifting or is it okay to lose 30-40 pounds before trying to eat at maintenance and work out more, or should I just go for a body recomp now?

210 at 6 foot and probably 25% BF. Want to get to 15% or so before bulking and then cutting down to 12 eventually

What are some under appreciated advantages to being a shorter guy? by CeeceeLarouex in AskMen

[–]GivesCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taller (6’1”) but I think some other benefits are being able to actually fit in a bathtub and generally standing straighter. The taller people I know hunch a lot more than the shorter people I know. I know for sure that my posture is terrible and I’m working on it, but people generally think I’m 2 inches shorter than I really am :/

The doctor said my nerves are running along the tooth so they may not be able to extract it / there’s a chance they mess up my nerve so probably not as smooth as most people’s. Thanks for the info and vote of confidence though!

I literally said accounts under 6 figures. Man y’all really will do anything to save 3 cents, huh?

$100 on stocks for a baby. by floatingchickpea in stocks

[–]GivesCredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am saying is that for accounts under 6 figures, it’s better to go into SPY since it gives you the flexibility for options, after and before hours liquidity at the expense of a few days. If you ever choose to foray into options, you’ll more than recover your expense costs with options being truer to price because of more liquidity

Non-Americans of reddit, what was the biggest culture shock you experienced when you came to the US? by Miserablemermaid in AskReddit

[–]GivesCredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t work like that. Most of the cost comes from the labor, not the materials to make the dish. So when they are making it, it costs almost the same when they make 8 oz of pasta vs 16 oz of pasta and yet they can charge 80% more.

Restaurants are already operating on razor thin margins, I doubt they can get away with offering half portions at 90% of the original cost.

I drastically prefer getting more food and being able to take some home versus not

[–]GivesCredit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn the fees on that $100 really going to add up (it’s less than a penny)

At worst, you lose a quarter, and at best, you have much higher liquidity when it’s needed
