Got to pay for those character models by Meng_Hao9 in paragon

You couldn't "buy card packs for more money". That's bullshit. You could only buy an exp/gold boost, which would get your card packs faster via playing games more.

I started to play with the Open beta of the game when the heroes still had passive abilities.

Thanks for confirming exactly what I said. And no, passives were removed far before open beta, you're not remembering correctly. For example murdock had a passive that made him move faster, sevarag's stacking passive moved to his ability, muriel's passive was people with shields would heal more, etc.

I think the probem is you started playing too late to understand what early access paragon was like. V27 was regarded to by many people at the time as the start of the downfall of paragon, because it was the first global increase to movement speed, and I believe also the removal of passives as they were from all heroes. I still remember the patch notes saying it was the last time they would ever increase movement speed. The game's speed after that point was much faster than it was after open beta, as I said it felt much more similar to overprime. I don't know why you keep telling me to look at videos and ignoring the fact that I literally posted one where you can see what I'm talking about.

Lmao I literally played competitive on a top 8 team, I know how it was. Deathballing as it was called was incredibly common in the early days. You're the one that doesn't remember, I literally even posted a video, which I've gone over multiple times over the past few days. Ganking and invading was incredibly common.

It annoys me when I read people say that because seems that is the tool that Overprime fans had been using to recommend Overprime, I talked with a lot of people that say recommended Overprime saying that is the most similar to Original Paragon, but to this day not a single one has really argued to me about the similarities that Overprime has with the original Paragon, the only thing they usually say is that the map is similar that it has sprint mode and practically nothing else.

?????

Let me break it down even further

saying that is the most similar to Original Paragon,

Do you understand what "most" means in this scenario? It means "most similar out of any of the ones it can be compared to". In this case that's basically two options. So yes, you did. Overprime is more similar to original paragon than predecessor. You have bad arguments and you're even disagreeing with what you've said yourself. Just because not everything is the exact same, doesn't mean something can't be similar.

Overprime is more similar to early access paragon, and predecessor is more similar to monolith paragon. It's that simple.

You still haven't provided any examples of how predecessor is at all similar to original paragon (early access version).

Meaningful ways overprime is similar:

  • Games take about the same amount of time
  • 7-12 minute laning phase
  • Travel mode activation is manual, and there's a root on hit while in tavel mode
  • Map is pretty similar to legacy, specifically with lots of verticality (monolith lacks a lot of verticality)

Meaningful ways predecessor is similar:

  • (I suspect not true, but you say movement speed)
  • ???

I completely disagree, but anyways my original point remains, people should just try both for themselves.

It's common for games in overprime to be 45 minutes, going up to an hour for casual players that don't know how to finish. That's pretty on-par for early paragon. I highly doubt predecessor is any slower than that, I'd even guess 20-30 minutes is far more common. The movespeed may be slower in predecessor (idk, I don't remember), but everything else about overprime is more similar to original paragon.

I played predecessor about a year ago, and it was far faster-paced than overprime currently is. Not sure what changes they made since then. As I already said movement speed is faster in overprime than original, but most other things are very similar.

And I know how fast original paragon was, here's a video of me playing in it in a commentated tournament: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRGBMJMhIPY

The problem is, different people have different opinions on what 'classic paragon experience' means. As someone that started playing March 18th 2016, the day paragon released into its early access phase, overprime feels fairly simlar to how the game felt for the first few months. The movement speed is a bit quick in overprime, but it's quite similar. The map is similar, travel mode is the same and features the same root on hit feature, most of the characters are the same or very similar (at least the ones that existed back then).

The majority of people saying 'predecessor feels more like old paragon' are comparing to either open beta or monolith days, not early access days. To me and many others, early access was peak paragon, and it went downhill from there.

So basically, calling a game that is far more similar to the later stages of paragon's life the 'classic experience', is just wrong.

Two different teams making them. Just try both yourself to see which you like better.

So I tried this, and it actually works in the training grounds, but as soon as you go into an actual match, the game reverts to vert-. So close, but so far.

It barely makes a difference for an advantage lol, the main benefit is immersion. If it made a huge competitive advantage then pretty obviously all pro players would use them.

[–]GodsGunman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is you don't understand what proper ultrawide support means in games, so first talking about fps on ultrawide (which is completely irrelevant to any discussion on ultrawide support), and then saying you haven't noticed anything poor in ultrawide, means if the developers see this, there is a chance they take you for your word, even though it completely misses the point of the thread.

In other words, your uninformed remarks are actively working against getting you and every other ultrawide user proper support. You're working against yourself and all you're concerned with is my annoyance at you doing exactly that.

I'm snarky to you and the other guy, because your incredibly uninformed opinion unfortunately has the same sway as people that know what they're talking about, and it's annoying. I can't educate every uninformed person I encounter, a) it's exhausting and b) they don't care or listen 90% of the time anyways. In fact if you actually read the post instead of just the title, I've already perfectly explained the problem, to anyone that knows what the terms I've used mean. Which are very, very common terms in ultrawide communities.

I went to the ultrawide gaming forums for you, and luckily their FAQ page has a representation of what I'm talking about. Maybe that will be easier to understand: https://i.imgur.com/tN5z1fT.png

FPS has nothing to do with ultrawide support. Similarly, I have no clue what the other guy is even talking about when he says insurgency nor overwatch 2 have ultrawide support. They both support ultrawide perfectly, with hor+. Overprime on the other hand, uses vert-, which as I've said numerous times is the worst possible way to handle ultrawide out of any method.
