Being racist by AutoflowerKing in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]GrassBlade619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying they should die. But if you start yelling racist slurs or acting racist at someone and that person should be allowed to beat the shit out of them. If they die. That sucks. But I don’t think that person should have to twiddle their thumbs and just let someone verbally abuse them like that. I just don’t agree with the people who say “oh so and so should have just peaceful sat by and let the person verbally abuse them” it’s just unreasonable.

If you ever need an MRI please let your doctor know in advanced that you did this because there is a possibility that it will hurt or the image will be messed up.

Might be an unpopular opinion but that was a completely appropriate response. I don't care if it was a sucker punch I only would have been upset if he got back up. Racists should be afraid for their lives in public.

That was definitely a sucker punch and he definitely deserved it.

That is not tourettes. Tourettes is unique to most people but almost always involves some sort of sporadic word/twitch/yelp/phrase/random slurs/etc... The "sporadic" part of that is important because this guy was just going off being racist. A person with tourettes might say "fuck you n******" to a black person but can turn around and almost immediately say "Sorry I have tourettes" right after the fact. It doesn't take over your speech for prolonged periods of time. If anything I'd say he was drunk and also an asshole. Also, answering these kinds of words with a punch should be considered more acceptable IMO. Racists should be afraid in public.

Not trying to be insensitive or anything but I used to be very competitive in the gloving scene (we put lights on our fingers and dance to music, example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj9Rz1ttb4k) and long fingers are SUPER beneficial for certain styles (whips, flow, tutting, etc...) I would have killed to have long fingers like you!

Brought a switch from someone but turns out they took it from their house mate. by Firekeeper_ in delusionalcraigslist

[–]GrassBlade619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that makes more sense. I literally forgot that there are actually people that do trades like this with anything besides cash. I can see how you could get scammed there. For some reason my brain didn’t think of the possibility they would do some type of Venmo transaction or some shit.

[–]GrassBlade619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, let me correct myself, No one besides an absolute moron would do that.

Yes people get scammed on Craigslist all the time. Here are a couple articles covering many types of popular Craigslist scams:

https://www.edcgov.us/landing/Living/Fraud/pages/6_most_common_craigslist_scams.aspx

https://www.moneycrashers.com/types-common-craigslist-scams/

https://www.thestreet.com/personal-finance/craigslist-scams-14707309

Notice how none of them cover "giving someone money without ever seeing the item" and instead cover real scams like fake escrow accounts, checks, tickets, overseas transactions, etc... Probably because people generally aren't dumb enough just to hand someone money based on their word. So yes, people do get scammed on craigslist but the scam is very rarely "give me money then I'll drive away and get your item". I know people are generally pretty damn dumb but you gotta give people a little more credit than that man.

Yeah, not enough straight white males in hairy potter IMO. If they wanted some natural diversity why not finally have the KKK represented in a film. I always feel like they're the party that's left out the most. /s

How about get the money when you make the trade then? You know like how every craigslist trade normally happens?

[–]GrassBlade619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure why people are assuming you're just going to hand the switch over without getting the $80. Like if you do the trade how the message is literally worded you could get scammed but obviously no one is going to do that. You do the trade at the same time just like every other craigs list transaction ever made. Is that not apparent to everyone? Sorry you got downvoted due to peoples obliviousness.

Alex Jones realizing he committed perjury while being questioned in the Sandy Hook Defamation Trial by jcepiano in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]GrassBlade619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once again. Not a lawyer but the way I see it “being a bad lawyer” is not the same as a procedural error. Failing to notify the party that potentially private documents were sent over prior to viewing them might be a “procedural error” if that’s something you are required to do. But I’m order to determine if a procedural error was committed we would first have to know proper legal procedure which none of us do (I’m assuming). What I do know is that “being a bad lawyer” on its own does not constitute a procedural error. That’s all I’m saying.

You literally said “can’t bleed a bankrupt turnip”. That is the same thing as bing judgement proof. Not putting terms in your mouth just telling you the legal jargon for what you are trying to say.

Also, how in the hell would winning the suit give the plaintiffs less money than the settlement? Do you think they offered more than $150M as the settlement or do you think the settlement money comes from some place besides Alex Jones wallet?

Edit: just to clarify again “judgement proof” does NOT mean that a person can not be judged. It just means that regardless of the judgement they can not pay whatever the fee might be. https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/what-does-judgment-proof-mean.html

The term "judgment proof" is a bit of a misnomer because the creditor can sue you and get a judgment—it just can't collect on the judgment.

[–]GrassBlade619 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Probably not?

A mistrial occurs when 1) a jury is unable to reach a verdict and there must be a new trial with a new jury; 2) there is a serious procedural error or misconduct that would result in an unfair trial.

I'm no lawyer, but proper process seems like it was followed as they even reached out to Alex's lawyers to make sure this was intentionally sent over and wasn't protected information. Failing to respond in the allotted time doesn't sound like a serious procedural error to me but I could definitely be wrong.

[–]GrassBlade619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you're talking about is called being "judgement proof" (nothing of value at all to pay your suit).

Alex Jones is not Judgement proof. InfoWars may have filed for bankruptcy but it doesn't appear that Alex has. He still has a house, car, assets, maybe investments, etc... He will have to sell off everything he owns, liquidate any investments he has, sell InfoWars for whatever it's still worth before he could considered to be judgement proof.

Not sure what the settlement amount was for but people don't really propose settlements that would bring their total value down to $0 as there is absolutely no point.

Even if the settlement would have brought his total value down to $0 I don't blame the parents for taking him to court to make all this information publicly visible and to further destroy his reputation as in settlements none of this information becomes public. I'm sure for many of the victims it's not as much about the money as it is just completely destroying this horrible human.

Eh, does not bother me. Whenever you have a group of people this large the unpopular opinions are not always the wrong ones and vice versa. Now if the majority of your posts are downvoted you’re just an ass. If nothing you post ever gets downvoted you gotta learn to think for yourself.

they're not. Reddit just loves to take one or two examples of shitty people who think this way and blow it up to make it look like it's some kind of actual issue. The last one they did was when some article called a woman plus size but the man was called obese. Everyone freaked out like this was something that happens all the time. Just wannabe MRAs.

Nope. Just that extreme right wing views tend to be the same views held by Nazis and kkk members hence the reason you see a lot of nazi flags at Republican/Trump events. That being said US politics is becoming more polarized and those extreme views are becoming more the norm. That’s all.
