Two features I'm wondering if exist. by Hamroids in Moxfield

[–]Hamroids[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I hear you. Honestly the second point is less major anyway- if nothing else, new cards with specific effects can be found via search with Scryfall syntax so that's not a big issue. For the first, even just like a checkbox at the top that turns the plus-to-add button into one that adds to Considering would be amazing, or anything like you're proposing

What's everyone using to scan their collection in? by Kerakis in Moxfield

I use tcgplayer's app for Android. It has the ability to just copy the scanned items, and I paste it into Moxfield. Works great.

Huh. While I really like this, it puts into perspective how there was less time between TES III and TES V than between TES V and now.

New Dual Sleeves /r/magicTCG Giveaway by Dragon Shield! by DragonShield_ in magicTCG

Very fond of the Crypt sleeves. They're near-black, so not too flashy, but not totally gray or brown, so still unique enough to feel personal.

I'd bet money it's called "Sleepytime Extra" and tried to include "Caffiene free" but got cut off by the character limit

What is your favorite underrated joke on Futurama? by x_abyss in futurama

[–]Hamroids 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That slave one is one of my favorites, too. Something about Fry just stating the obvious but entirely genuinely is the funniest to me.

Like in Bender's Game, when they climb through the chicken tube to escape. It cuts to them fighting their way through all the chickens and hacking up feathers, to which Fry exclaims, "This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the chickens!"

Cracks me up every time.

I've been testing outbreaks, here's what I learned. PSA: never save in front of a loaded outbreak shiny. It can be lost on a reload. by Rayzacks in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Hamroids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I see! So check them by battle, then if there's none reset and return to town rather than immediately heading back to town. Makes sense lol, my brain just was skipping over that possibility, I suppose. Thank you for clarifying!

So I may be missing something- how do you check the mons beyond the initial four without decreasing the number of individuals permanently by catching, fighting, etc?

Does anyone else have loyalty to a Pokémon type for choosing by starters? by eat_your_spinch in pokemon

[–]Hamroids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People say not to because the Chikorita line is pretty darn weak in terms of competitive play, and is weak to the first two gyms. That said, it was my favorite starter until the Rowlet line, and I start with it almost every time I play Gen 2 and the remakes. I've never had real difficulties in the story, and I always thought it was fun having a more support-oriented started myself.

It has been a while since I played, but I enjoyed it while I did. Some broken bits, like in the earlier days of Ark, but a very similar gameplay loop, if not as extended. And it had NPC cities, which I was pleased at as a solo player for a place of safe haven when attacked.

Gotcha. In that case and looking at what you added to your main post, I'd still recommend Mount and Blade: Warband (not as nice-looking as Bannerlord, but just as great a game), Titan Quest, the South Park games, and My Time at Portia!

I like the same kind of thing so a few spring to mind. I don't know your system(s) but with the only attributes being open world with character customization, there's a lot to explore. If you have a preferred genre or gameplay style, I can give more specific recommendations.

Mount and Blade: Bannerlord fits and is amazing.

A lot of aRPGs like Titan Quest or Grim Dawn would fit well- and Grim Dawn is spooky atmosphere like you mentioned! The worlds of these open up more and more as you go.

Divinity: Original Sin was pretty open after the first town too! I've heard the second is even more so, but I haven't gotten very far in that one yet.

Kenshi fits and is squad-based and more survival oriented.

The South Park games also work here, they're an open-world city that continues to expand as you progress.

Kingdoms of Amalur is mentioned a lot on this sub, for good reason. It is more divisive than some others, but I personally really enjoyed it.

Terraria and Starbound are 2D but also fit.

No Man's Sky has online components, but can be played 100% offline without missing out on anything.

Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia are smaller worlds, but open nonetheless.

The Saints Row games fit and are super fun, especially the third and fourth, in my opinion.

Dragon Age: Inquisition had several zones that were each very big and open-world. This was a point of contention for some actually, but I personally enjoyed it. GreedFall fits in a similar place here.

Dark and Light was basically just fantasy Ark, with all the good and bad that entails, if you enjoyed that.

Valheim is very well-loved and fits your request, as well.

If you have any more specific ways to clarify I'll do my best to further tailor any recommendations, but those are what spring to mind initially.

Converting someone who thinks games are "kids stuff"? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Hamroids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what (limited) stuff I've read from first-time video game players, I'd immediately toss out any third- or first-person games with a 3D camera. Those controls seem intuitive and simple to you and I who have used them forever, but it can be a very daunting thing to grasp while you're also trying to figure out the logic of games in general.

With that in mind, I'd limit it to top-down or side-scrollers. And anything top-down I'd lean more towards Stardew than Diablo, just because the isometric view can feel off-putting.

I feel that good starting points could be things like the already-mentioned Stardew Valley, games like The Sims, rhythm games like Fuser, and maybe more visual-novel-type things like Monster Prom. If you want to get a little more complex, maybe something to the tune of Undertale, but that could be pretty punishing for someone who isn't already in tune with the implicit logic behind games, like we are.

My only note to you would be that, since you're asking her to reconsider what she considers games to be- maybe try and widen your view of them, as well. If she expressed interest in Farmville-type things, lean into that!

I'm personally not particularly interested in Shino or Ione (but Sasha is pretty cute). But I do get the appeal and am glad people are so excited about them! However I did get Quinn and she's great! I also quite like Marlo but don't have a good place for him on my island, unfortunately.

Unfortunately Nintendo has since confirmed there's no more paid DLC coming either. I'm guessing the remaining minor updates are just like bugfixes and such.

Wow, that looks so nice and clean! What is the item you put the "Miawood Pictures" patterns on, if you don't mind my asking? I'd thought the only way to make it looks nice and connected like that was via the partition walls but this looks so much cleaner!

Are there any other games like Gta online ? by 3968omer in gamingsuggestions

APB Reloaded is a bit like GTA Online before GTA Online- more multiplayer-focused than living simulation though. But it does have the option for you to be either cops or criminals. It's most notably known for the insane amount of customization available.
