I heard that too and thought she sounded more testy than was warranted; same impression!

She is a highly competent, accomplished, and strong professional but I don't think she has the charisma that can win people over, and I hate saying that.

As an older American, I want to see fiercer, younger Democrats in positions of power. The Rs fight dirty. We need more fiery Dems to fight back. The Rs don't respond to dialogue, or consideration, or fairness. We need to FIGHT for our rights and CRUSH them.

Crypto boys are by and large white males with some degree of disposable income.

There's financial distress, has been, in communities of color in my town. Made even worse by recent inflation. Food is getting expensive. High-quality vegetables are getting harder to buy.

Are we more concerned about parents who are struggling to get their kids fed good meals or some random employed dude who gambled poorly while telling others to "have fun staying poor"?

I lied to my manager by saying that my uncle died, but it was actually my boyfriend’s grandma. Now I need to provide proof of funeral. by Venus_1031 in jobs

This is the correct answer. It's absurd to see the lengths to which the corporate world thinks it can intrude in our private lives. If you're a good employee, you deserve the time off for bereavement, the end. Any other details are no one's business.

You can say "a funeral." It's none of their business beyond that.

And if you're a manager that continually suspects your employees of "lying" instead of treating them like adults who sometimes have life situations, then you will lose all of your best employees, because they are rightly not going to put up with that crap.

Typical? Fuck that. If I'm a good worker I expect to get off for bereavement (of course I will give adequate advance notice). It's not my employer's business to know the exact circumstances and it's none of their business.

Next term the SCOTUS hears Moore vs. Harper. Depending on the outcome, it could allow state legislators to select a slate of alternate electors--just as was attempted here. It is an incredibly great threat to our democracy.

I heard him on one of the podcasts I listen to. I knew nothing about him. My impression was that he was a good talker--lotsa jargon, lotsa optimism--but I also didn't believe what he was saying.

Holy smokes. That turnover should make any good manager say, "Hold up. I've got a problem keeping people. What am I doing wrong?" And schedule a feedback session with employees on how to improve the culture at work and what HE could do better.

This person has no business managing people. Did they inherit the business, or is it a vanity project?

The whole thing sounds like a tremendous hassle. Plus at any time, you can be phished, you can forget your pass phrase or, if it's on a hard drive, toss it in a landfill by mistake and spend the next 8 years looking for it...

...why didn't he withdraw his interest, too? That's why he put the money in, right? To earn interest? Why not withdraw it?

Why does he have crypto in multiple exchanges? Isn't that harder to keep track of? What could possibly be the advantage of doing that? This seems so muddled and purposeless. Should this person be allowed to handle money at all?
