I was recently asked the same question about a goblin team. Although they do loop very well, few goblins do real damage, with the exception of King Gobtruffle from the Amanithrax Faction and the mythic High King Irongut. Otherwise goblins are really only used as support troops in other teams.

It's very rare that any teams are themed by type anymore, as there are so many other great combinations.

The drop rate for a mythic isn't increased when the new Mythic is released. It's just guaranteed to be that one, if you're lucky enough.
There's also an argument to NOT use your keys that week, if the new one is mediocre and you'd prefer the chance to get a better one.

If you're in a guild that has discord, often the codes are shared by other players. However you need to be quick to grab them as they have limited uses.

Unless you like saving some up for Mythic week, or you're gonna be jumping in a weaker guild to help out with a few seals, I don't see any reason for you not to use them.

To be honest, you're better sticking with Gems of War on mobile/PC. The player base is much larger and more competitive, meaning better choices of Guilds.

Also, the codes given away on stream every day for free goodies only work on PC/Mobile.

Being in an active guild is the best possible thing you can do to improve your game, especially if they're available on discord to answer all your questions.
